Robert Chew (Prop Joe) was my best friend whom I miss dearly! I miss him calling me all times at night going over his character on the Wire. RIP Robert and Michael.
@@dree35 Really? Of course many of us did. His weight fluctuated all the time. I moved away from Maryland and couldn't physically be there. It got worst when he broke his leg and couldn't walk as much as he did before.
@@chaazyasharal7037 fluctuated? As in he got skinny and then heavier? That would seem like a more dire issue at hand I just wonder why more people don’t try to get an intervention going.. would’ve shaved years off his life. Not trying to be ill just legitimately asking questions cause alot of people claim friends and don’t do things a real friend would
@@dree35 Not skinny but he would go down several pounds. It was fluid and he was very tired of having to go to the hospital to have it removed. It was hard in his heart.
Sort of. If I was Stringer, I'd have said, "If these guys haven't met, why did Prop Joe know who he was by sight and make an ironic comment before he'd even approached and acknowledged them? Not that it matters. Everyone knew Prop Joe was devious.
Joe was making money making the intro. Plus obviously he didnt want people knowing that omar stole his shit. Or that he was am earning a premuim by reselling his stolen shit at a higher price. Or that he even bought back his stolen shit and are now selling a premium. The thing with lies you gotta bar all holes. Joe was just watching his back.
The Wire, what an amazing show. World class writing, acting, directing etc.. in nearly every episode over five seasons. I think that qualifies The Wire as the best real life drama in television history.
yeah really world class writing thats what most people do with the person who almost put you in jail ..invite them to drink im talking how lester reacts with kima says she ratted on them. no human will do what lester did if they were in there right mind
Mike valenzula Lester was a very unique individual. He knew he went over the line and he respected Kima as a professional. I think. understanding the context, his reaction a fully understandable. As I said, great show with exceptional writing.
Dude I've seen you on multiple videos talking about Lester buying Kima a drink. Shut the fuck up. You sound like a God damn idiot with that broken record ass shit. That the only thing you can come up with? World class writing lil nigga, bow down and pay homage. #FACTS
I'm still in shock but R.I.P. to Michael K. Williams, a great talented actor that will be truly missed & he was a real one. loved all his work. Legendary actor.
Everyone is finding hints of his accent, but only AFTER they knew Idris Elba with from England. Nobody caught any of this shit when the show was first airing.
DISCO-INFERNO-70 It’s funny now. You can sometimes hear him struggling to keep his accent from coming out like in the scene where he orders Slim to kill the senator.
@@hankscorpion He died over the summer without ever watching it. He preferred westerns. I kept it for myself and watched the shit out of it multiple times over the next month. Initially, I felt the same as you did about The Wire. Rather, I despise “cop shows” for the message and narrative of the “hero cop” they promote in society. In fact, the only “cop shows” I tolerate are Hill Street Blues (for the acting and writing. The Wire actually owes a bit of gratitude to HSB, in my opinion) and Starsky and Hutch (because of the Gran Torino). I despise “cop shows” so much that I ignored The Wire until the final season, thinking it was just like all the rest. That changed during the final season when I was in a shared living situation and we would all gather on Sunday nights to watch it with enthusiasm.
This had to be one of the best series that television has to offer, it had everything, leaving you thirsting for the next episode and you were never ever disappointed. All the actors had you engrossed one way or another. RIP Mr. Williams you nailed it bro. I want to see another series top this or even come close.
@Josh Harrison I don’t think British have anything to do with it but in my free time I will take a look. I’m pretty sure British have nothing to do with it. If anything baltimoreans will be sounding more like New England people or the people on Tangier Island if British have anything to do with it.
If the meet was guaranteed by Joe, he should have picked the place. If Stringer knew where the meet was beforehand, he'd be able to set up on it. But Stringer probably deliberately stayed close to the fountain.
@@ImTheSecretSquare don't get so deep. It's a fiction TV programme. Yes some of the Characters were based on real life people. And the Wire was a brilliant series which reflected some real life issues, but don't get so deep on it.
Could also be an allusion by the writers to the movie 'The Conversation' with Gene Hackman, which is based around a recording of a conversation in a park, near a fountain.
String took charge and started walking, that was a subtle move to show who will be in charge of the negotiations. Omar trailed behind and played ketchup; but Bell was in charge. BRILLIANT!
@@eternalyfeful normally I'd tell you to increase your standards but you don't look that great either, so you two would prolly go well together as a couple
+The King in the North I'm still piss about that all these years later. It crazy that he went out like that especially prior to that kid killing Omar he got his ass whoop by Mike. But it was unexpected that probably why he killed omar we got rob of the Marlo Omar square off.
UK what's funny to me about that statement. Yes all three of them died but they all died as a result of the unpredictability of the streets. Stringer died because Avon betrayed him and gave him up to brother muzonne who informed omar about his whereabouts. Prop Joe died because Marlo betrayed him and I don't know how he didn't see that coming. Omar died because his ideals and way of seeing things betrayed him. He didn't think a child was a threat and would never put his hand on children to begin with so didn't think of the possibilities. They were all betrayed in some way. The ultimate message being you can love the game but the game don't love you back and will betray you at any given time.
There was an outdoor concert at Power Plant Live (behind Prop Joe where it says "BAR" 0:31) and I went to this exact spot and stood just like Stringer did. I used to have a picture, but I lost it.
Bubs was a crack head. The only thing they are loyal to is getting high. Omar only applies the rules of the game to those who follow the rules. If they had just given Brandon an ass whopping or even just ransomed him back for the drugs, he would have taken that on the cheek and moved on. Even if they had just killed him he would have stuck to the code and just come back at them with guns blazing. But they tortured him and them desecrated his body. That's what made it personal. He was out to get them by any means necessary.
@@ryansaunders65 He was partly justified for his snitching. I don't know much about his story, just what I read on Wikipedia. The guy banging his girl and whoever was supposed to be handling his money for his lawyer fees deserved some punishment , but the ones who stayed loyal deserved better. He let his need to hurt the ones who betrayed him outweigh the loyalty he should have had to the ones who stayed true. So yeah he is a snitch.
@@clintonlawrence701 Nah. hes a rat. They ahd every right to torture ole boy, Omar killed plenty. Omar the only one who broke the rules by snitching. his lover wasnt off limits. His lover helped him put in work.
0:16 - Joe had a lot of street knowledge and surprising understanding of a lot of things. He was sort of a 'street database', but he was good at parlaying his knowledge to his advantage. He was, in a lot of ways, the most natural business man of the various kingpins. He was always looking for a way to turn any service or product into revenue.
