no1 and I mean NO1 wants to hear your bichh voiveovering classic tv scenes, plase take your channel down, at least I'm going to try and see if it's possible to remove this shit channel from showing up on my seach results. I urge everyone else to do the same...
I was shocked to hear HOW he passed away man. Who ever sold him that laced cocaine needs to be in prison if they did it on purpose. Thinking he’s rich so I’ll get him hooked on fentanyl and make him spend all his money with me. I think he used to use heroin back in the day though. If you watch The Wire you could see how he looks healthy and put on weight in some scenes. In other scenes you can see he lost weight and doesn’t have that glow on his skin. I struggle with addiction myself so I can tell if someone is using a mile away. In a interview he said he spent every dollar he made from The Wire on his drug habit. I just wonder if he knew there was fentanyl in his cocaine or if he was into speedballing aka Belucci. Heroin and cocaine mixed, when you sniff it withdrawals are not that bad when you stop. Idk how it works but I’ve been told it does.
@@exspiravit6920 some people take a break and just die after they use again because their tolerance. I can't even begin to count the people I've lost coming fresh out of lock up or rehab like this Sometimes the dope is just stronger than usual because the randomness of circumstance. I over dosed in front of my ex wife after sniffing and smoking dope for two years. That shit was just especially strong that day. Did my three bags and slumped out in the laundry room. I know I look like a cheesy cracker but I've been on and off institutionalized since I was 11. Been a user and an addict since 12. Been homeless on and off for almost a decade. I'm very confident in saying that sometimes shit just happens. Dude almost assuredly knew about fent; who doesn't ya know? Sometimes the odds are just against you and you lose
That would make String Hades not the media versions he's God of being unseen underworld is his domain he owns all wealth because he owns all things under ground like precious metals and gems, so String owned money in the underworld
I'm sure someone has pointed this out but Omar saying " ya boy gave you up" in the stringer death scene beckons back to how Brandon was brutally tortured but refused to give omar up. As if to say his homosexual and not outwardly tough looking boyfriend refused to give up Omar after torture but your tough drug dealing kingpin best friend that you've known since your infancy in the game gave you up easily. The contrast is quite interesting as it shows that they both have codes but Omar's transcends pragmatism.
My favorite scene was Bunk scolding the hell out of Omar about his negative impact on the community. In a twist of fate, one of the little kids who grew up idolizing Omar ended up killing him.
at least with scrapping maybe a broken jaw or a cut eye and maybe a little jail. if u shoot someone it’s over. or if ur in a gun fight there’s only two ways out. I’d rather throw my kettlebell around or lift some rocks cause I’m kinda a barbarian in real life bro 😜😂. I liked that scene too.
@@Ahmedkhan8802 Tone's talking about the scene in season 3, where you see a bunch of little kids in Hamsterdam roleplaying as drug dealers and stick up dudes, and among them is Kenard who says "I wanna be Omar!"
Great video, but kinda disappointed you skipped over the scene where Bunk chews Omar out after Tasha's death. I think it's really important in understanding the downside of Omar's philosophy. Because he morally places himself above the likes of Barksdale and Marlo, he has a huge blind spot when it comes to his own role in the cycle of violence and it's effect on the community. It's why he's so shocked when Bunk tells him about kids "playing Omar". Ironically, it's because of his strong morals and self-righteousness that he can be ignorant of the unethical aspects of what he does.
Omar is one of the deepest, best written characters in TV history. I love what this video says about Michael and we not being able to realize he is a potential Omar until we see him become it. It's what I felt exactly when watching his ending. This show has so many layers, shows us a genealogy of the streets and all it's pieces. In the end, the feeling is that we know so many things, and Omar and Michael are this anomaly, that grows from little things, little possibilities to escape the pattern, that are so subtle that only a sensitive character like Omar would understand as a path to follow. Beautiful writing on this amazing show and beautiful analysis by ScreenPrism, once again.
To add to that, Omar's death by some little boy at first watch. I rewatched all 5 seasons. The little boy was Marlo's cornerboys Omar put shotgun to in eariler scene.
Yes we don't see it coming and yet once it happens its so obvious it couldn't have happened any other way. We know from his very first scene that Michael has a strong moral code. He bends his code to protect his brother, but he still has it. And we see he retains that code even as he learns the game. Even after he masters it. A shotgun is not the best weapon to commit a robbery with. Its hard to maneuver, and slow to fire. But its Omar's signature weapon. Michael is making a statement by using it. He is carrying on on Omars legacy. "The game" is an ecosystem, and ecosystems have niches, and niches get filled one way or another.
RIP to a fantastic actor, and by all accounts a kind and decent man. I'm stunned by Michael K. Williams's death and heartbroken, as I'm sure many of his fans and family are. He's gonna be missed.
When he caught that bullet from the kid my heart stopped and I shed a tear. He was a full Robin Hood, love it when he goes to prison and his smarts. He really was my favourite character.
Agreed. Every time I rewatch The Wire, I skip past the part where Omar gets killed. Then to add insult, the toe tag scene in the morgue was like adding salt to a festering wound. Greatest show ever.
Omar arguably makes the largest impact as a character in the show, even though he has very little screen time in comparison to all of the main characters
Fab StillSmokin idk about that. Omar only robbed drug dealers because they were about that life. Only time it showed him robbing an innocent man he forces his brother and friend to give it back. Also he probably is the most patient considering he almost always planned ahead and waited for the right moment to strike rather than storming in head first. Only after butchie dies does Omar become sloppy
I just finished watching "Boardwalk Empire" and just gotta say: Michael K. Williams was as completely riveting there as he was in "The Wire." His magnetic onscreen presence is mind bending. Cannot get enough of him...
Omri W : I wish I could get everyone I know to watch The Wire lol. Most just think it's an old show and don't give it a chance. They have no idea what they're missing.
BIG FACTS i had a friend tell me "power" is better im like brooooo no freaking way that corny ass "power" can ever be mentioned in the same line as "THE WIRE"
Jaycie victory me too I know they want keep it realistic but they couldve let omar live.....they wanna keep it all the way 100 they couldve killed off 1 of the cops just saying....omar was everybody favorite character well most
My wife asking me why marlo visiting avon in prison i let out a big sigh and said youve not been watching she said i have i said they youd know whats going on then
The Wire is one of the smartest tv shows ever. Its characters and story have a depth and complexity that would make Shakespeare grin. Every single person involved in this show deserves to be prouder than proud.
As the son of 2 police officers who then got caught up in the drug trade as a teenager\young adult i absolutely love the Wire. The amount of stuff they got right is insane. All the lil stuff they thought about that other movies\tvshows don't, made the show feel so much more real
@@hey.3249 I’ve heard that before lol especially cuz all the details are pretty wild but I wouldn’t be able to tell the story without outing a bunch of the underground politics of my area n I’ve finally got the target off my back these last couple years from other street politics n I’m not about to paint it back on just so some rich connected assholes and their politically aligned friends can come after me😂
An excellent dissection of a complex character. He was a fan favorite for the very reason that he represented the gray in all of us. People like to think of criminals as these horrible people but there are those who know them and love them. Omar gives us the view of someone who straddles the line like most of us and shows that many in different circumstances could be world leaders, but that those that lead don't generally have to agenda of fair play and doing things with a code
A Code Got To Have a Man Omar was that man. When he died, Michael became that man. I love the way this show shows the complete cycles of every role in the game, from every angle.
Agreed. The greatest part about the ending of this show for me, was that nothing was ever really resolved. None of the problems faced in the show were ever overcome just taken on by new faces. The cycle will always continue... Powerful television.
I've never wanted to watch The Wire, because of the cult-like rabid fans, but this is the first time someone actually explained why it was groundbreaking and worth watching. Even with all of the spoilers, I'm going to watch the entire series now.
I envy anybody who hasn't seen The Wire cuz you get to get blown away by the discovery of it. I've seen them all at least 6 or 8 times & probably will again, but nothing like that thrill of first realizing how much bigger it is than any other show you've ever seen..Just be sure to watch every episode in order; doesn't work like most shows where you can drop in at random & get the gist of it.
Every 2 years or so I will watch the entire series again. At this point I have seen it more times than I can count and I still get the same feeling as when I first watched it. Best show of all time hands down.
Brother Mouzone is my man. When he tells Avon Barksdale “ business is what you got now. How you got here is your word and your reputation.” That’s it WORD.
I loved Omar so much. Thanks for putting into words why. Such a well-rounded, fantastically drawn character. His death, and especially the manner of it, still hurts.
The scene and exchange with Levy in the court is one of the best ever written and protrayed in all of television!! I remember first watching it and laughed so hard.. I even rewatched it several times and I still laugh every time I watch it even today!! Omar is my favorite series character.. You short is well made and only proves just how unique and complex yet likeable and how people want to believe in him.. Especially with his brains, raw courage, conviction and difference his sexuality. Thank you!
I just recently watched The Wire for the first time. The show is not only fantastic, Omar may be my favorite character in TV. I wish they would have had a whole show with him.
I remember one of my ex-girlfriends coming home and see me watching the show and saying why are you watching lowbrow drug-dealing TV shows you should watch something critically acclaimed like I do in Grey's Anatomy. I looked at her and laughed. I then said is Grey's Anatomy talked about at Harvard? What is it ranked on IMDb is it higher then the wire? Yeah after she read about it I didn't hear that anymore. Come to think about it I should have broke up with her right there and then. Would of save me years of her bulshit.
Dang, this is a year old, I'll reply anyway. A comment like that would have made me lose immediate attraction for her, no matter how fine she looked physically.
The disrespect of the young will destroy the planet! But why should they have respect for a world that teaches them to hate, make war and abuse the weak!!!🤨
If you mean the drive to get what they want. McNulty is an unfaithful man who trolls the street for easy picking. Omar is depicted as monogamous. McNulty is at times sloppy with his job. Omar always plan and executes his moves meticulously...
RIP - Michael K. Williams, aka Omar Little, aka Chalky White. A great character actor who lives on through a legendary body of work on what will be remembered as some of the best television of all time.
This just made me smile! Thank you!!!! You guys can never do enough of The Wire breakdowns of characters, have you done the women of the Wire. Thank You!!!!!
There is actually more going on under the surface with Omar and Kenard, it's VERY subtly done, I only picked up on it on my 5th or 6th viewing of the series. Kenard kills Omar because he used to idolised him, only ever hearing the legends and stories. You can see this in the scene where Bunk is investigating the stash house shootout, he sees a bunch of kids playing at being Omar, if you watch again, the one saying "my turn to be Omar yo" is actually kenard. Later, after jumping out of the apartment window, Omar ambushes Michael and the gang on the corner, hobbling along on his makeshift broom crutch. It is clear from Kenard's reaction that this is the first time he has actually seen Omar, and he expresses his disappointment at seeing this mythical figure he idolised in that physically vulnerable state. This is why he kills Omar. Also Cheese is Randy's father, bonus fact for you there (confirmed by David Simon, they wrote a scene with the two in before Randy is sent to group home, but they never filmed it due to time retraints.
I think another reason Omar died was because he killed Savino. He gave Bunk his word that he would never kill anyone and then he went against his word and therefore broke his code. I think his random death was like a meta retribution.
I agree he's an incredible character, but I feel like Omar gets off too easy. There are two great "tragedies" for Omar, Brandon and Butchie being brutally murdered by the Barksdale gang and Marlo's gang respectively. And both of these were his fault. The first time, he robbed the Barksdales, and they came back with the murder of Brandon. He goes on his long revenge rampage, and actually wins. He kills Stringer and Avon gets life. He's too intelligent not to know how brutal drug kingpins are, and the chaos he has caused. So what does he do? Go and rob the high end poker game. Remember, like the first time, there was no reason for him to target these guys, however bad they are, he clearly started the issues between them. He was largely feeding his ego, like in the clip where he talks about "running with the wolves". As a direct result of this, Butchie is tortured and murdered. So he's on a revenge rampage again. But that's bullshit, this isn't even about Marlo, there will always be a Marlo. This is about Omar, and his insistence on poking lions. He isn't just putting his life at risk, he's putting everyone he knows' lives at risk (even his grandmother almost was collateral). I do think this is played out in the subtext. Omar by the end is a shell of himself, and his anticlimactic death is fitting.
Butchie wasn't Omar's fault that was Marlo. Omar was already gone and what does Marlo do? Goes and kills Butchie and brings Omar back. Marlo was poking the lion not Omar. What did he think Omar was going to do? Prop Joe even warned Marlo but he ignored him. Marlo was too proud to let Omar go.
Yes, Omar left, but only after starting conflict with Marlo unprovoked. Obviously Marlo's attack on Butchie was horrific, even by the standards of the show, but it wasn't totally illogical- Omar had robbed Marlo and got away with it, and that could hurt Marlo's reputation. As he said, crown don't mean much if the fellow wearing it always getting his shit took. Marlo thought Omar was going to come back and die, and that's exactly what happened.
Prop Joe set Omar up against Marlo. Omar doesn't need to be provoked he robs for a living. Anyway, Omar robbed Marlo even more after killing Butchie. He burned his dope and his money and killed a lot of Marlo's people. Omar called Marlo out on the street and shit all over Marlo's reputation. A little boy got Omar where Marlo failed. He would have been better off just leaving Omar alone.
WOW MAN I FIRST SAW HIM SPEAK HIS FAMOUS LINE MANS GOT TO HAVE A CODE AND IT STUCK TO ME AND NOW I KNOW FROM WHERE IT ORIGINATED AND MAN WHAT POWER AND ENERGY AND ACTING THIS MAN HELD RIP MICHEAL K WILLIAMS
The scene where bunk was getting on Omar about the trouble he causes in the community was amazing. I was in awe when I saw it. The greatest scene in the greatest show ever.
