You really gotta respect how each season had intro music that matched the theme/energy of that season...this season was all about war and shaking things up and the theme song definitely represented that...absolute chaos was about to break out.
Finished the wire recently for the first time. What a series! Just like The Sopranos, Season 3 is the best of the series. The introduction of Colvin and Carcetti, Hamsterdam, the rise of Marlo, and the downfall of Avon and Stringer all made it so dang good and unpredictable. Also, “Cheese, who’s your dog?”
I love the references to the Barksdale-Stanfield war. The boxing, the dogfighting, all the shots of dead bodies and blood, the comstat murder numbers, all the guns that are shown etc
@0:27 to 0:35 the Segway from crushing the vials with the shoes to the "Target Crime Reduction" powerpoint and a BPD officer just walking by putting his hat, the COMSTAT manuals, and the rug being rolled over whatever was there before just has this feeling to it that characterizes the season in so many aspects. it just shows that the game is all about covering up the eyesore and optics optics optics. And what is perfect is in that 8 second span you hear "you got to keep the devil, way down in the hole", and it flows together sooooo perfect.
Just to add (2 years later) to this nice comment; After the rug gets rolled open there is 'dope on the table' as kind of an excuse for people to forget what just got left under the rug. ''Just forget the increase in crime, we got dope on the table'' kinda.
0:55 - 0:57 The cut between zipping up the body bag to the pan of the Bodymore Murdaland wall is so god damn good. Shows of how much blood just gets spilled over the season and the overall issue of the murder rate being so high.
@@thelimon4338 I read that sentence and it looks like incoherent babbling. I’ve seen the wire, but what that guy typed looks like somebody drunk or high wrote it.
Best Intro. Hands down. I listen to it every episode. It's the only one I don't skip through. Aside: I never really noticed how much Aaron Neville sounds like Cleveland Brown, though. Just dawned on me; now, I can't unhear it.
This was the meat in the potatoes of The wire season 3 it just got harder and better absolutely this is the best season of The wire and I watch has thousands of times and I can't stop season 3 of The and season 4 and season 5 of The wire
I watched a ton of tv shows. The Wire is the only show i never skipped the intro, not even once. This one, S3, is my favorite tho. Sorry Tom, gotta give it to the Neville brothers on this one
I am very happy when I say I watched this serie but I feel so sad when I know I have only 9 seasons left before I finish the whole show... so fckn sad shhiyyyyyyyyyyy
I won't say best tv ever because some idiot would become angry and start talking about how some other tv show eg. sopranos or twilight zone or twin peaks etc were the best
1. Breaking Bad 2. The Wire 3. The Sopranos 4. Twin Peaks 5. Game of Thrones 6. Oz 7. Lost (seasons 1-4) 8. The Walking Dead (seasons 1-5) 9. Sons of Anarchy 10. 24 My top ten
I thumbs downed this comment. Granted Season 3's intro music is my favorite version of my favorite season of the series, I nevertheless appreciate that David Simon and his crew were trying different variations for this show's five compelling seasons... If I have anything bad to say about the intro songs, as I do about 95% of other TV show intros, its that each introduction variant should've aired only once on the season premiere episode of each season, otherwise the introductory sequence and it's accompanying music become tired and trite.
I could say the same about the outro music, although it thankfully was brief and didn't take up as much of the viewer's attention as the intros that were aired episode after episode.
What? Season 4 was arguably the best season of any television show ever. 5 wasn't perfect but it wasn't unbearable to point where I'd say the show fell of its still better then 90% of Tv despite its dip in quality.
