The critically acclaimed series "The Wire" featured some very memorable characters such as: Stringer Bell, Avon Barksdale, Omar Little, The Bunk and Jimmy McNulty. However, no character was more feared than Chris Partlow. The Chris Partlow character has to be one of the most cold-blooded characters if not thee most cold-blooded character in television history. Partlow was an enforcer, adviser, and friend of Stanfield's and was willing to do his part to help Stanfield achieve his goal of wearing "The Crown" no matter the cost. This video is a collection of his best scenes, not his best one-liners.
PS: RU-vid would not allow me to put the scene from Monk's apartment when Chris and Snoop ambushed Omar. Sorry.
I do not own the rights to this video. This video and all rights belong to HBO. This video is for entertainment purposes only.

The whole interaction between Chris and Michael over Bug's dad was revealing. Chris knew exactly why Michael wanted it done because he obviously was victimized as well. The whole scene of beating him to death was made all the more intense by the reaction of Snoop. It was her moment of realization of where Chris' whole being was created.That was, for me, one of the finest and most intense scenes of that entire series.

@voteZDLR
@voteZDLR 6 лет назад
@Jordan Jacobs Are you responding to me? Cause I didn't say anything about whether he got raped or not. I think it's VERY clear that Chris took that kill SUPER personally, with how intensely and like you said "in his feelings" while doing it. That was pure, unadulterated hatred what he did to him. Even Snoop herself was shocked. So yeah I believe, too, and always have that Chris WAS a victim of sexual abuse. Either that or he's just already got it ingrained in him the prison culture thing where like for example if you are a sex offender who goes to prison who hurt children especially you might as well get ready to do all your time in solitary. Cause in prison the people who harm children in anyway especially sexually are marked men. Plain and simple. But yeah I agree, Chris has never showed as much hatred in the entire show and I've seen it twice. The Devil was in him when he did that, and honestly IMO for a good reason, fuck that piece of shit.

I love The Wire for the simple fact that, they didnt treat the audience like idiots. They didn’t always spell things out for you to understand, a lot is left for interpretation. For example, they never outright told you Michael and Chris were molested as children, it is heavily implied. When you see Chris rage out on Michael’s Dad was the perfect way to telling you without telling you Chris’s past.

Chris is so professional in what he does, it’s so casual to him that he finds a way to be nice about it to his victims. You clearly don't know the clinical definition of a psychopath. And most of the people he killed were not innocent. Psychopath are incapable of empathy, or emotion. They care about nothing and no one, family included. not the case with him. That is the reason the army weeds them out, and they make crap teammates.
@colinhead7414
@colinhead7414 7 лет назад
jimmd56 i only seen Chris show emotion one time, and that was with Bugs father. To be honest i don't really know if u can call that emotion.
@jimmd56
@jimmd56 7 лет назад
That was because Michael told him Bugs father molested him. The way he killed him was totally unprofessional, and it was heavily implied that he reacted the way he did, because the same was done to him. that may even be why he become a killer in the first place. If that isn't emotion, I don't know what is. that and the fact that he took Michael under his wing and mentored him like that. Psychopaths cannot do that. and the other time he showed emotion was when at the apartment, they failed to kill Omar. he was worried that he would go after his family. that scene where he throws that knife to the floor. He may be morally reprehensible, but he is not a psychopath. Marlo on the other hand, definitely is.

The hit with the vendor takes my #1 spot as the most haunting death in the series simply due to the randomness of it. In every other death, there was always some level of "involvement" so their murders made sense. Even the security guard fell due to directly confronting Marlo. However, regarding the woman, she had no ties to anything happening in that world. It could've been anybody. She was just in the right place at the wrong time.

When he said "say Omar" to the guy that witnessed the shooting, it implied that they wanted Omar to be charged with the murder. ***** Right, but you never get to see the extent of that. They leave it up to ones imagination, which I think is brilliant. You could only ever tell from the look in his eyes or the way he spoke. +Erick Santos Actually, I think Marlo eventually found someone to grudgingly respect, if not fear, towards the end of the series. That one scene when Marlo visits Avon in prison is a textbook example of an imbalance in power dynamics. I believe that Marlo didn't initially take Avon too seriously, calling him weak and, yes, even running him off the streets and into prison. But that time when he visited Avon truly made him change. It showed that if Avon had been the one to deal with the up-and-coming Marlo instead of Stringer all those years ago, Marlo might have met his match. Avon, from the beginning, knew how to push Marlo's buttons, toying with the latter's sense of pride by insinuating that he was working for some "white man in a suit", whereas Stringer had tried unsuccessfully to appeal to Marlo's (probably nonexistent) non-aggressively businessman-like side. And then there's the fact that Avon has influence even over the corrections officers. It was clear that although Marlo stole the crown from Avon and had his fifteen minutes of fame, he was still crude in his power, relying more on fear than a respect-imposing demeanor, and never going to be as respected as Avon. I think Avon had it bad because of having had Stringer take on Marlo, but in the end I still think Avon was more of an experienced and well-respected leader than Marlo was.

I've watched many tv series during my life. Chris Partlow has always haunted me ever since I watched all 5 seasons of The Wire for the first time. He doesn't think about death row, spending the rest of his life in a prison or what happens to his soul after he dies. He just kills.... never thinks twice, he just kills like it's an every week thing for him. He doesn't seem to regret anything. Killing for him is easier than for "normal" people to choose what cereal they want to eat lol
@Se7enDuece

That's what makes him such a great character. Very few people know someone or have someone like Chris Partlow in their life. He does something on a regular basis that "normal" people consider heinous, and it's just a regular part of his life, like picking up milk from the grocery store. For us "normal" folks, that makes him intriguing because we have a hard time wrapping our mind around someone living a life where killing people is pretty much an everyday "errand". We're voyeuristic, we like to peek into the lives of individuals that live outside the realm of what "we" think is "normal society". It's why Breaking Bad was/is such a popular show.

The scary thing about Chris and Snoop was that they were like still in their 20s you know. The average mafia hitman is a grown-ass man, but these 2 were just still in their 20s I think, and already responsible for so many cold murders.

Just noticed how Marlo wanted Stringer's hit to be attached to his name. An indication that he needed to keep trying to boost his reputation and back his name. Marlo's whole journey throughout the show was flexing his name on power trips. He could never garner the respect that Avon had. It was all about fear for him. My name is my name...
@shaolintiger97

Brother Walton Marlo never wanted Stringer's death added to his rep. When his handler told Marlo what the streets is saying which is that Marlo killed Stringer. What was Marlo's response? "It don't make me no never mind." Which means he don't care. If the streets is saying that then add it to his jacket, he's not gonna correct them, so let them keep talking.

I still say that Barksdale Organization from Season 1 takes down Marlo from any season easy. Chris was the only one that had any real planning plus The Barksdales lacked the recklessness of the rest of Marlo's muscle. I had a thought though, the actor that played Chris, Gbenga Akinnagbe, was an extra as a cop in a scene in Season 1. What if that was Chris? It would certainly explain his obvious training and precision. Also I love how he responds to Andre's "My family won't know" with "They'll know." He seemed to carry his self with some honor.
@ucantknockthehustle

Season 3 Barksdale Organization takes down Stanfield Organization too. They were about to ambush Marlo with grenades and all that shit. The only reason the Barksdale Organization fell is because Stringer snitched on Avon. Marlo just got lucky that's all.
@Gootothesecond
@Gootothesecond 10 лет назад
ucantknockthehustle Yeah but he wouldn't have made it past 2 episodes with Season 1's crew. Remember, the Barksdales actually almost killed Omar after he set them up while Chris and company set up Omar and still couldn't hit him.
@Sam61493
@Sam61493 10 лет назад
**(might contain some spoilers)** i agree, barksdale season 1 probably had enough muscle to take down marlo in season 3, but by mid season 5, marlo owned all of baltimore with enough muscle to keep it in check. the thing is, marlo had the pride of avon, and the coldness of stringer, but he was also more cautious, more businesslike (more so than stringer), and more efficient than them. after omar broke into marlo's card game, marlo joined the co-op, while when the barksdale organization was in trouble mid-season 2, avon refused to take prop joe's package until stringer went behind his back. marlo listened enough to take good advice then did away with his enemies like prop joe and hungryman to assume control of baltimore also, for as ruthless as chris was, he was loyal to marlo and served good advice and oversight when needed. stringer wanted it his way while chris never stood out against marlo avon got ambushed by omar and shot by chris. marlo knew how to play the game better than anyone else and came close to getting hit once at the end of season 3
@compounding_gains
@compounding_gains 10 лет назад
Sam61493 *****SPOILERS***** I think you should say the Stanfield Organisation as a collective was more efficient and businesslike because there were times when Marlo made silly mistakes like his card games -- which was apparently his only vice -- and when he was thinking of going to celebrate in AC after topping Prop Joe. Chris on both occasions warns him against both of these impulses (reacts negatively when Marlo suggests using more money for gambling and says he's needs to prepare for Omar respectively). Without Chris, Marlo would have slipped, and those two situations were possibly fatal. But then Marlo was indeed a clever player, knew how to war and knew how to manipulate and intimidate people and was sociopathic in his quest for power. Also, bear in mind that the Barksdale Organisation had the drop on the top 3 (Marlo, Chris & Snoop) just before Avon got arrested (which was a result of a "crisis of leadership" in his crew thus showing that he was definitely on his way out), so it was also a fair bit of luck that lead to Marlo to being the -- very brief -- kingpin of Baltimore.
@Gootothesecond
@Gootothesecond 10 лет назад
Sooftah I don't know on both counts. I don't think they were as efficient as they were pragmatic. They tended to kill just in case and Chris had an ingenious way of disposing of the bodies but that caused fear and enmity among those they worked with which makes people react to you irrationally like what Bodie did. It wouldn't have been long before everyone turned on Marlo. Also, Marlo wasn't as business orientated as one would think, he was just power hungry, there was no reason for him to raise the price of the package once he got control of it. All that would've managed to do was force members of the Co-op out since price was a large reason for joining it. I think the only thing Marlo really had going for him was viciousness.

It just occurred to me, I sometimes see parallels being drawn between the police and the criminals they investigate, but Chris is, actually, a police officer. I mean, he isn't a cop, but he is very similar to Landsman. He's doing exactly what he's told, even though he's doing his best to keep his boss from raining too much Hell on his own people. He trains his soldiers, expects compliance regardless of what they're told, and in the end he ends up doing quite a bit because of "political" reasons that aren't necessarily related to his job. Most of his killings are investigations into other "crimes", but he is very methodical about it. And, in the end, he gets screwed like McNulty not because of how he does his job, but because he cares too much about one job in particular. He loses himself in a quest for "justice" and ends up leaving his DNA all over the place.
