@@audreydoyle5268 make black magic layered aubergine pasta then. Rlly look it up you can substitute the pasta with eggplant or zucchini or whatever you like and it's still extremely good. Even better than the original sometimes butt u didn't hear that from me
huh? I have never seen or heard of anybody here eating "Summer Stew" I have lived in many differenyt parts of the US, too but maybe it is just some families
It's always interesting to me to find names for dishes that I just grew up with, and just called like beef soup/stew or something (probably not the official name just what I knew it by). I like it because it shows me that even though growing up and up until i saw this video that I thought it was a common thing that everyone knew about, doesn't mean it is just because I know about it and the people I know know about it and that's one of my favorite things about the internet You made it look really good, and I wish I could have a bowl just like when I was younger, great video.
@@azurastar3223 see that's what I was saying too, like at home I remember being excited about the stew, but knowing that it wasn't anything fancy and that they made it so that we had food for like a week (family of 6), so it's fun (and even funny sometimes ) watching internet discover or try to repackage what I grew up with
@@bostonb4kedbeans I know, that's why I said that this is one of my favorite thing about the internet. Because it reminds me that my common things aren't common
I'm Croatian (Europe) and we cook this often, in summer often without the meat and call it sweet cabadge (soup). It is really good and healthy, and yes for a time it was a hit in dieting because it doesent contain a lot of calories, is filling, healthy (and if eaten daily, makes POOP😂).
In Mexican culture we make something similar. It's called " Caldo de Res" translating to beef soup. Some people cook it sans tomato or with it. Though a lot of people cook the chicken one (Caldo de Pollo) for healthier reasons. I'm vegetarian, so I make a pure vegetable one. Coincidentally- turns out vegan.
I like the format of laying out all the ingredients you're gonna use before cooking 👀 makes it looks a lot less intimidating to attempt that way! I gotta find that pot you're using to cook too
I want one too... I just saw KimonoMom's Short advertising the Japanese clay pot version called Donabe, can be used on burners, induction stove, or microwave
@erikad0511 i would want to read up on product and see long tested etc. At least with gas you can see what flame you have. Unlike my unreliable elec plate stove thst doesnt work correctly
The secret to making tomato paste delicious is to fry it with a little oil in pan first (add seasoning if you want) and THEN add it to your pot. I promise it would taste better
@@jenninemorel7693the real tip is to know the difference between sell by, use by, and best before. Best before is effectively good forever, but flavour/consistency/quality will deteriorate over time. Just don't eat it if it went moldy. Sell by is just the date stores are allowed to legally sell up until. It could still be good, but also might go bad the next day. It's luck of the draw, so smell/taste test before consuming. Use by means you shouldn't use it beyond that date as that's the minimum safe length of storage time. These times are usually pretty accurate. Generally speaking, you should NOT use foods beyond their use by date as they can cause considerable harm through different kinds of food poisoning, which often results in hospitalisation or death.
That looks like this really common soup from Central Europe (common as in: home cook common, you’ll never see it in a restaurant cuz it came from desperate times)
@@user-ry6jj6kx2s yeah, the US and Europe shouldn’t be lumped together, I think many Europeans would take great offense lol The one time Europeans agree on something haha
Same! I just wanted to stew, and I added tomato paste, miso and nutritional yeast, so it would add some flavour. Turns out it’s similar to a recipe that exists in another country! I add some lentils and /or chickpeas for protein.
This reminds me of a Chinese soup my mum always makes - luo song tang or chinese borscht. Basically, it subs the beetroot for tomatoes. Looks super good tho!!!
I make cabbage soup that is similar to this. It just has the cabbage, carrots, chicken stock and tomato juice instead of paste. There was a diet based on eating cabbage soup and a few other things, lol. But I just genuinely like it.
it's very much similar to Arabic dish called tabakh rohe which means cooking by its own as it doesn't need souch effort it's like a comfort dishfor tired mothers❤❤❤
I just made a huge pot of this for me, my boyfriend, and my friends. I added some beef stock with the chicken stock and this is the best stew I've ever had!! I can't get enough!
I adore your cute ceramic pot with the lid that is a cute bowl. I find that all cultures and countries outside of America have such beautiful and unique cookware. In America everything utilitarian is ugly compared to other countries. I love the cookware of the various Asian cultures, as well Azerbaijani cookware and Central Americans have beautiful cookware also. I wish I could travel just to go buy cookware and household items from various countries. This looks yummy. I’m going to subscribe to see all the lovely things you plan on sharing with us all. ☺️💛🌸
i didnt hear it was for weight loss. i just looked online for spooky recipes snd got vegetarian witches stew, with mushrooms that had little eyes cut into them, and pumpkin shaped carrot slices
Oh, I make something similar for my kids, only we call it Troll Soup (my son likes trolls). I usually put broken spaghetti into the soup, so that its like troll hair. I often use sausage or leftover meats for protein, or I add some beans. For us adults its a tasty veggie soup that is different from what we normaly do. For the kids its a fun soup with a story, where they want to eat a variety of veggies, not just peas and carrots.
Im on a keto diet and your videoes helped me a lot ❤🥰 I know you do put ingredients that are a no no for my diet, but I just find a different substitutes 😁 keep it up!
Keto diet has killed so many of my patients for multiple organ failure. Be careful and it should only be temporary unless your Dr requires it for a certain condition.
Thank you so much for focusing on healthy and delicious meals, I love food and food videos but struggle a lot with my weight and its nice to see something that looks genuinely delicious and is healthy ❤
In the Philippines, we call this Potchero and it's literally our national hero's favorite dish. I love it because you can just make it whatever veggies you like or have, similar to Chopsuey/Chopsui.
