The beauty of snowy Skellige, busy streets of Novigrad, colours of duchy Toussaint. Capture the wonders of the Continent with PHOTO MODE - a new tool available in #TheWitcher3NextGen!
No, no addition at all. Photo mode is advertised, but still does not even open on PC. After 2 hotfixes of which the second announced it would fix it. 😒
No, sadly it is the end of the king. At least on my PC. All it does now is stuttering. After 1300 hours in GOTY I will have to deinstall Witcher 3 now, because it is no fun anymore to play it.
Hey CDPR, do you think you guys will further optimise the next gen version? I found like many others the RT GI feature to make the game almost unplayable even with a 3080ti, would love to know, love the upgrade in general though, thank you so much!
No but with 3080ti and 11600k I cannot get playable framerates with RT global illumination on, I guess I kinda wish they were more up front about just how demanding RTGI would be, then I would not have had high expectations, it seems only the 4090/4080 with frame generation turned on is good for it, and I’m only talking 1440p as well….
@@George-um2vc why do you feel entitled you should be able to play with max graphics because you have a 3080ti? If you want to experience cutting edge then you go buy the cutting edge GPUs too
@@djurius perhaps you replied to the wrong comment because I don’t feel entitled I would simply like to see further optimisations if it’s possible, that’s all🙂 hope that makes sense
@@George-um2vc Bro. RT is RT. It doesnt matter if you think your pc 'SHOULD' have better framerate. Thats not how real life works. Go play Metro Exodus Enhanced edition and complain even more.
For all those people who are saying there is no difference in rt mode outside its about details which you dont see immediately but if you look closely every shade around almost every blade of grass is adjusted thus you percieve it as more picturesque and with more depth overall try to switch modes in certain sunny place and you will notice also when you want to see GI go to dense woods in velen near novigrad for example and turn rt mode on and you will see the difference right away how everything is hazy bluish and dreamlike
Unfortunately I can't seem to access the photo mode... :/ I read online that the "U" key should be standard but not on mine. When I assign that key, though, (or any other) nothing happens either.
Happens on many PCs. Mine also. Rumor is that there is a way to fix it, if You edit a certain game file. Sound a bit like an "ikea-type upgrade" to me, if I have to do all the editing of the game files myself... 😉
I went to update and thought twice,. Looked at some boards and I guess there are all these issues with this update. I'll stay away until they fix them. No rush, by then a few of the mods will be updated too, hopefully.
I wish I had done that. But on Steam I got the upgrade automatically. And now mit witcher 3 game is lost in "issues". And I do not even try to play in ray tracing mode...
My photo mode on PC is broken for some reason. Most or all of the screen blacks out when I hit U to bring up photo mode. Sometimes there's an eye shape. Idk what's going on lol
Oh, I remember looking forward to a new playthrough also. But it will never be again as the Next Gen arrived. All I get now is stuttering and low FPS. This is the end of Witcher 3 for me.
Does anyone else have the problem that photo mode doesn't work on PC? In my keyboard settings it says there is no default key, and if i set it to U (or any other key) nothing happens if I want to activate it.
Yes, same here. Simply never opens. Edit: Still does not even open after the 2 hotfixes that claimed to fix it. I am so pi*** off by that photo contest CDPR organised to celebrate the new photo mode instead of fixing it.
photo mode is bugged on PC. when i press U to activate photo mode, the screen goes very dark, i can barely see things, no matter where i am. anyone else with same issue?
Please fix the base / standard version. It stuck on version 1.62. You can't transfer the save file into ps5 version with base game. It only works on GOTY version. Please fix that CDPR.
On PC many players experience lots of crashes. And drops of FPS. On my PC it often suddenly drops beneath 30 FPS, mostly in cities when NPCs are around. And even with proper FPS the game runs not smoothly, but stutters and jitters. On my PC - that meets the recommendations - it is next to unplayable, but certainly no longer any fun. The advertised photo mode does not even open. And they nerfed gameplay in many ways, not all of them welcome.
Would like to see an option to remove NPC and change time of day, weather effects in the mode the most. Other things are somewhat optional like having Geralt make poses but often times I have the right shot but not the right weather or time of day and having to meditate to adjust is a lot to ask. NPC are also sometimes in the shot. Having the option to remove both Geralt and any NPC would be nice but weather/time is critical. Additionally when we enter camera mode, it snaps to face Geralt which is very disorienting, I would suggest simply entering camera mode whichever way we are facing already as its probably what we want to take a photo of anyway! Thank you for photo mode though, I post gaming photography online and I am super happy I'll be able to share pictures of my favourite game of all time!
I think that your suggestion will be overlooked 😓 Game is at a bad state right now with this unpolished update. Again, lack of testing like with cyberpunk is apparent.
@@pleasedonotlikeme3460 It has not been my experience. Apart from 30fps Ray Tracing as well as that mode having strange visual glitches, I have not encountered much in the way of "unpolished". Roach still gives some issues but that's on brand at this point. Everything else is fine for me and I've been playing for hours. I'm on PS5, so maybe it's different in other platforms.
@@mgsRyder do you know if photomode is on last gen too? I haven't found anything about it. The 4.00 update was a little bit over 10 GB so it would be weird if its not there.
@@rare_form A quick Google search turned up this bit "Unfortunately, Photo mode is only available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The update did not bring the feature to PS4, Xbox One, or Switch." Seems like its really a "next gen" update as its title suggests so not much beyond maybe the new quest and items, bug fixes were added to the last gen. I'm sorry. I feel for you, i know it must suck but you have to see it as a next gen type of thing. I see no reason not to have made it a thing but yeah.
@@mgsRyder thanks dude! Couldn't find anything they always talked about next gen update, but yeah well... its not that bad actually, I've waited years for a photomode so a few weeks or months until I've got a ps5 is no problem. I'm happy it finally got one
7 months later and the advertised photo mode still does not even open on some PCs. Nor has there been any word whether this - and a lot of other new bugs - will ever be fixed.
Photo mode does not even open on PC... even after 2 hotfixes it does not even open. Will this be fixed? It really was annoying that CDPR organized a "photo contest" before fixing photo mode... but it would still be nice if it would be fixed some day (and not just be advertised without end).
*1. Where is HBAO+ in settings?* *2. Where is optimisation?* *3. You conspired with NVIDIA, and now we have to buy their graphics card overprice? You removed HBAO+ and now called it RTX shadows, "Thank you", now the fps drops much more than with HBAO+. I'm not going to support the Jacket with its high price policy, I have an AMD RADEON 6800XT.*
no, performance is fine, the problem is they updated the LOD object, so if you use ultra setting before and get 60fps, you are not gonna get same result with the same setting, particle effect also increased which cause some frames drop, you just need to upgrade your pc at the end of the day
@@sussy_61 Nah, it shouldn't be like that. Even on the lowest settings it works worse than it worked before. If the game doesn't reach 60 fps on the lowest settings on GTX1060 6GB, then something isn't right. On the previous version I had over 60 fps on Uber so it should tell you something.
@@sussy_61 "no, performance is fine, the problem is they updated the LOD object, so if you use ultra setting before and get 60fps" I never used Ultra settings... but the FPS are way under 40 and even suddenly drop beneath 30. And as soon as there are NPCs the game is stuttering badly, as if the frames do not get the same time each. " you just need to upgrade your pc" My PC meets the recommended system requirements. And I have read many players that have a 3000.- and above hardware - and still experience crashes and stuttering. Anyway CDPR should be aware that not every player out there is a millionaire and can buy prime hardware whenever he or she wants. Recommended system should garantee the game does not stutter.
Highly doubt you will see this comment but still. Ray traced shadows are BROKEN. For real. They flicker they disappear they radically change when you move the camera especially in a sun lit forest.
God i wish you would do a preview trailer like this for Cyberpunk one day for the option of 3rd person view for walking and exploring and when engaging in combat and quests to go automatically first person.
The Depth of Field section could use some more tweaking. Aperture and Focus Distance don't always work as well as it should. Also ran into an issue where activating photo mode in Oxenfurt/Velen (around Hearts of Stone questline) just shows a blank red screen while it works fine in other locations/regions.
@@George-um2vc Oh for sure. There are a ton that need fixing. Like even without the RT stuff, it stutters like an Unreal Engine title lmao. But yeah, I was just pointing out the Photo Mode ones specifically because the trailer was about Photo Mode. Haha
@@BenyaminLorit fair enough man, hopefully CDPR takes all this seriously and fixes it. It seems that since this game runs on an old version of RED engine and was originally at Directx11 title, the RT implementation has yielded even worse results than Cyberpunk's, this makes sense since Cyberpunk at least had the benefit of using a newer version of RED engine and from what I understand was always intended to be a Directx12 title.
On a PC that just meets the recommended system requirements You can't even play it in "performance mode": FPS that drop beneath 40 most of the time, stuttering as soon there are NPCs - and many players face crashes.
Somehow it's better out of the box than Cyberpunk 2077's photo mode. Two major differences are: In CP2077 the camera movement is very limited, and auto focus is on by default. In TW3 auto focus is off, and camera is allowed to move more freely and further away from the character. Pottery...
Man, I CANNOT wait to make content on this. I make cinematic gameplay videos and this next gen update will give me SO many great opportunities 🙌🏽 excited
Cool, but it sucks you cant photo mode almost whenever you want like in cyberpunk, since now the cutscenes are not prerendered anymore, I thought thats how it would be.
Why didn't they put photo mode on ps4 and xbox one? The previous generation also received the update, not the graphics, but at least the other updates included armor, the new mission and other things.
Don't be envious: It does not work on PC either. It does not even open. And still does not after the 2 hotfixes that claimed to fix it. So You missed nothing there...
Wonderful possibility, I wish we could have it earlier. So hyped for the 6th walkthrough with my Regis and Geralt figurines :) P.S. I've done a video with 2300+ screenshots (100% walkthrough) , check it out if you want to💜
I was wondering why Witcher just had an update. Thank you... Also can't wait for the new installment. Please don't ruin it...bring back the old team to help.
Stop shilling for CDPR, the update removed several cutscenes because the devs could not bother to upscale them, the performance is trash and the fps into the trash.
I personally haven't used it yet but been seeing a lot of others who aren't happy about performance since the update. If they did remove cut scenes to bring in a camera then that's completely ridiculous.
There are some speculations that Foliage Visibility Range set to Low/High/Ultra/Ultra+ is causing the fps drop, apparently Medium setting of this option fixes fps issue. Can someone with updated game confirm this?
@Werner Pfeifenberger Does not work. Many players on PC face this problem. There is no pre-assigned key to Photo mode when they enter the settings. If they assign one, the game ignores it. You can press the assigned button ingame as often as You will, but You will never ever see any Photo mode open.
Yeah, but with CTRL+ALT+PRINT as they always did. Because photo mode does still not even open on PC; not even after the 2 hotfixes that claimed to fix it.
Great update that broke a perfect game. All You get now is stuttering, low FPS and a photo mode that does not even open. And Netflix Nilfgaard armor, of course. 🤢
Photo mode doesn't work well, every time you turn it on the LOD in far distances gets messed up. Go to woesong bridge in white orchard and look at the windmill, then enable photo mode the windmill will disappear but the spinning blades whatever they called stay. Also bottom of bridge to crows perch by the fast travel post enable photo mode and you'll see the roofs of the buildings don't look as good. This also applies to the Nvidia overlay photo mode as well. Also you cannot screenshot in dx12 mode using Steam as Steam overlay does not work without deleting a dll file which is a bad idea.
this one is different and better, it also allow pc modders to unlock some setting regarding photomode....back then, people just use otis photomode tool but it isnt free
