Side quest characters in other games: “My cat is unwell can you collect 3 of these bushes to heal it?” -Quest ends- Side quest characters in TW3: “My cat is unwell, can you help her?” -Follows cat into woods. -Cat actually not cat. -Cat was a women in love with the guy. -Another women got jealous of them and turned her into a cat. -Now the side quest progresses And the most amazing part of this is that, this guy with the cat is just some other NPC you encounter on your path as you wander off. This is what makes The Witcher 3 so special.

My only problem with this game is that the characters are so realistic and loveable that by the time the main story is done I feel so alone, the final act of this game is just amazing, you start to view all the characters as family and you’d do anything just to be around them, it’s devastating once you’re done the game and know there’s nothing left to experience with this family you’ve made. I’ll always praise how well Ciri and Geralts relationship is handled.

I remember playing this for the first time last year. I tried it in 2015 borrowing from a friend and didn't get in to it so gave it back. It was on sale for £7 GOTY and I am so glad I gave it another shot. I agree with everything in this video entirely. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I put in about 120 hours for my first playthrough and the 2 DLC's and plan to go back through it once the PS5 upgrade comes out later this year. It's absolutely sublime. I also hated gwent the first time, and ignored it for the first 20 hours or so of my playthrough and then it suddenly clicked for me and I did every quest and tournament and got every gwent card and would often just boot the game up to play gwent and that's it! 10/10 game for me personally, despite it's flaws.

@Stasss Not even close? It has sold more copies, has a better average review score, and received more awards. It's also a much bigger part of popular culture today, outside of RPG gamers most people wouldn't have a clue what a Witcher is, at least before they watched the Netflix show. And like I said, 9 years later people are still talking about Skyrim, and playing it. It's not that impressive that this game is still popular when it's half as old. These are just facts. W3 is pretty good, but it hasn't done anything Skyrim hasn't done before. In terms of open world exploration, it's quite a few notches below Skyrim or any TES game, this game's biggest strength is by far the story. There is far, far more to do and to explore in Skyrim than in Witcher 3. A single playthrough, completing all the side quests along the way, takes easily 3x as long in Skyrim.

@@BigUriel As someone who played morrowind as their first rpg game ever, played through the majority of oblivion, and played skyrim through with mods at least a dozen times, The Witcher 3 is the benchmark when it comes to the quality of games. There are very few games, if any, with as good of character development, story, and writing. There are also practically zero games with these three things along with a wide variety of choices and consequences. That being said, Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls as a whole are widely more influential, but not in terms of being a benchmark, but for basically making western RPGs mainstream. Bethesda has always had good player building, exploration, and replayability, but in every other aspect, The Witcher 3 is far superior.

I often play this and think that they didn’t even need to add certain content in or add so many detailed side quests and yet they did, knowing that some stuff, only a few people would ever get to see. That for me shows that CDPR really care about giving value for money with their games. They could have bundled their dlc together and called it the Witcher 4 and asked full price and we would have gladly paid it but they didn’t, they released it as dlc and for me, that shows integrity, especially in today’s money grabbing, EA dominated video game world. It makes the wait for Cyberpunk 2077 worth it as we should expect that will also be incredibly detailed and full of content like the Witcher.

Michael Dromes. Well that sounds an awful lot like conjecture to me. The main story plus all the side quests and Witcher contracts added together can take over 100 hours and if you’re taking the time to explore all the mystery markers all over the map, complete your Gwent deck and just taking your time, it’s a game you could easily spend 150+ hours in before you even reach the dlc. That’s incredible value for money.

I have kicked my self in the A$$ everyday for the last two weeks for letting this game sit in my PS4 library for all these years and never played it until now. I tried it for like 5 minutes when I first bought it but I hated the clunky controls, so I forgot all about it and got invested in other titles. After hearing about how awesome it was for years and watching the Netflix series I decided to give it another go. The movement controls still suck(not as bad since I adjusted them)...but the game and its world are so fun and engrossing that I have decided to tolerate the fact that Geralt isn’t capable of taking just one or two steps and insists on stopping and looking at posters and business signs repeatedly when he is supposed to be running through town.
@mjmamat4058
@mjmamat4058 4 года назад
William Brinkley. I kind of did the same with Monster Hunter. I watched the first minute of a review and immediately decided I wouldn’t like it but then when the Iceborn dlc came out I gave it a second glance since they were offering the base game and the massive dlc for the same price as any other full price base game and boy o boy did I feel like a muppet for not picking it up sooner! Very enjoyable game IMO. Witcher’s controls take some getting used to for sure though. Geralt’s movement isn’t great and sometimes he’s hard to control when you’re trying to take loot from multiple boxes in a small room with other obstacles nearby. For me that’s the Witcher’s main downfall. There’s the occasional bug and every now and again the game crashes but generally I think it’s a highly polished game. Anyway, don’t beat yourself up, at least now you get to enjoy one of the best games ever made and once you get through the ginormous main game, you’ve got a butt load of dlc content waiting for you 😄

This is what happened with me too. I never heard of The Witcher before the third game; in fact I've never been much of a fan of the fantasy genre to begin with, the sole exception being The Lord of the Rings well as Game of Thrones (which was way more grounded than other fantasy media and still a good show back then). Watching the Sword of Destiny trailer for The Witcher 3 when it first aired though, for some odd reason, really caught my interest. Maybe it was the music, or the visuals, or the way it presented a gritty and grounded world in a fantasy setting similar to GoT. Maybe it was the fact it presented a quality narrative-driven singelplayer game, something that has been a dying breed for years in the mainstream. I'm not sure what caused it, but I remember rewatching that trailer a lot and being washed over with this intense desire to explore the story and world within the game. And then I got TW3 on PS4 (this was before I joined the PC Master Race lol), and fell down a rabbit hole I'll never regret nor forget. Even 5 years later, I'm borderline obsessed with the games and the books lol

The books are amazing too. Never played the games (wish I could, though), but these pieces of paper are just so engaging and thrilling, even when there's no action going on. Sapkowski's wit and dry humour make for an excellent recipe and the best part is it all feels like fantasy, unlike a majority of the stuff that comes out nowadays. I love the part where Ciri is training with Geralt in the second book, swinging her sword while practising her footwork on precarious bits of wood, and at the end it reveals she's been wearing a blindfold the entire time. And the characters too... Yeah, I'm rambling again. I'll just say, if the books suck me in for months at a time, then the games will be even more time consuming.

CDPR deserve all the credit they get because of the fact that they chose to release it as an expansion when they could’ve very easily made double the money and awards by releasing it as a stand-alone game, which every one of their players would’ve been fine with. This game got me through my first year of high school, which was hard for me as I didn't go to the same high school as my primary school friends and this game became that close friend I needed. Not only did it help me adjust to high school it also heavily influenced me as an at the time 13 year old boy with Geralt becoming a role model to me who I can say with confidence helped me develop into the person I am now. This game was outstanding and I'll always be thankful for what it did for me.

It's absolutely brilliant, never actually considered to buy an expansion for a game and never bought one, but right now that I finished the game I am going to do that just cause this game is that god damn good and it's that worth it. For me - the depiction of the effects of war, the sense of depth in the world - past witchers and their lost gear, their last moments, then things like the interdimensional episode - it just kept pushing the idea of fantasy further, while making the world feel very gritty. I cannot wait to get back into this game when it gets the free current generation upgrade. The worldbuilding, character writing and relatively simple but immersive gameplay are all amazing. I definitely don't think that this game is as perfect as everyone says it is. In hindsight, it does have some flaws and areas of improvement, and it took a bit longer than it should have to really hook me, but there's just so much heart and quality put into this that the pros vastly outweigh the cons if you're open to this kind of experience where you just get to live in this world with all of its terrors, dramas, adventures and completely believable and complex relationships.

Super late to the party, but I'm playing through the Witcher 3 for the first time and the thing I've immediately picked up on and really noticed was that the side quests and subplots you can develop are just as fleshed out and have the narrative importance of the main story quests. Every time I've done a side quest, I feel like there's something more to be desired, that there's a plot line I'm actively developing, and I can say that no other RPG I've played has done that. Super neat.

This game managed to create world that doesn't seem artificial. There are so many little things. One of my personal favourites is that Redanian army actually holds the only large scale crossings over pontar. There are checkpoints, palisades and soldiers standing guard. It actually feels like they have a grip at who and how many people can actually cross the pontar not just being told this.

Completed it 100% with all dlc's 3 times, including all places on map cleared etc. And it never gets boring, it feels like you are inside that world phisically. Since then I havent completed any game to the end, except terraria and gtaV(which was just short) and DS3, cuz all the other games get repetetive and boring after a short time. In Witcher everything is important and stands out, every character, place, every monster, enemy, village, every interaction, you never know when a random encountered villager or monster can change the course of your further story by affecting something that wouldn't happen if you hadn't met him. There is so much of those you dont even realise it untill you play the game 2nd, 3rd and more times, and during my 4th playthrough I was still surprised by smth from time to time, and even then I was able to find out about smth new from the internet, YT.
