@@tcllandrew7323 Correction: In the 3rd book. I know Sapkowski himself labeled "Blood of Elves" as first book, but book itself doesn't try to explain things from two "stories" books. Not even mentioning 8th book happens before everything and is a book, not stories. Those 5 books starting from "Blood of Elves" are the "Witcher" series, but for me they're more of "Ciri" series. Anyways without 2 first "books" you won't have a clue about Jaskier/Dandelion, Yennefer or even job of the Witcher (since "the" books doesn't really focus on slaying monsters), so they are important.
I'm currently doing an armourless-Death March playthrough, and it looks hilarious running around with nothing but my bare skin, trousers, and weapon sling, lmao. So professional!
It's actually not as bad as I thought. I mean, over 20 deaths, but that's still less than what I thought I'd get. I'm at Imlerith, and his fight is ridiculously hard to do with this.
Despite that, I have only 2-3 hits before getting hit to death, so I have to rely on my health regeneration (I'm using Gourmet, so I actually haven't used a single potion in this playthrough yet)
Al-jeebar, it's not just the facial animations,a lot of emotion is conveyed through body language and movement in this scene. And the way the camera behaves is important as well. We have several setups and people move around the scene and interaction is shown with close ups and wide shots as well. Couple that with amazing writing, voice acting and music, and you get a memorable scene like this. Bioware would have done a scene like this with a bunch of over the shoulder shots...
Well, the difference is in the lipsync attemp that Andromeda tried to do. They tried to mimic real life lip moments but they got exaggerated, Witcher 3 don't even try to do that. They move the lips basically the same way if they say "Yes" "oh" "What" "Hello" "Witcher"
Okay but why is no one talking about how ADORABLE Yen and Ciri’s reactions were? Ciri was giggling and kicking her legs when Vesemir was hugging her and Yen’s calling out to Ciri and just running down to hug her warmed my heart :’)
She said apart from Philippa, herself, (Rita) and Ciri, Geralt has slept with every woman on the ship. And Philippa replied saying it’s only a matter of time in Rita’s case.
Tom Clarke not in the books, in the books Triss constantly tries to pressure Geralt to cheat on Yen with her and when he loses his memories she takes full advantage of it to try take Geralt from her
Jason Bridges yeah both of them have issues.. honestly i feel sorry for geralt lol.. he needs to stay away from sorceress' I would have picked Shani if possible.
Yeah and she is the only one that really loves Geralt and would sacrifice her life to save his own. As she already did when she took his place with the Wild Hunt, at that point she thought it was a death sentence. Also they kinda feel right for each other - both have the same desires and dreams, to live far away from politics, just themselves. Triss is....well she is a lot more selfish than Yen - took advantage of Geralt's amnezia even thought Yen was her friend, if you choose he she soon becomes bored with living with Geralt and drags him into palace and politics again.....She is a good friend, but that's it - friend.
To me personally, having spent over 100 hours on witcher 1 and 2 I choose Triss always. Geralt may have been through a lot with yen in the books but for me having played through the games and gone through a lot with Triss I always prefered her. I guess I am a hopeless romantic just like she is.
There is a huge difference between Yen and Triss and that difference is mental age. It doesn't matter if it is books or games, Yennefer is woman, Triss is a girl. And I am too old to choose puppy filled with drama over full grown wolf with grace.
Mictlantecuhtli Ok I really don't care if you prefer Truss or Yen. Doesn't really matter to me either way as I think both are great, but calling Yen a woman while calling Triss a girl is really fucking stupid. Triss doesn't need to act like Yen to be a woman, she's done plenty to show that she is. If anything she is more mature than Yen. Yen sometimes acts like a spoiled brat.
Triss goes out of her way for others even at the risk of herself. Yen only does that if it suites her or if it's for Ciri or Gerault. I don't understand why people are saying Triss is a whore or Yen is the whore. They both had several lovers. So what? It's just like Gerault.
Glad my romanced Triss didnt explode when she saw Yen kissing Geralt in my playthrough. My reaction during that time: Geralt and Me: What? *Yen kisses Geralt* Me: Boi I do hope Triss doesnt- *Triss shows up and hugs Ciri while giving Geralt the stare* Me: Triss pls, Geralt is innocent, the game didnt give me a choice to struggle, HE'S INNOCENT!
Instead of all that romance bullshit i would rather have some bromance with the bro´s killing monsters. Best part of this game for me was the get drunk and dress up scene. Also killing some more griffins with papa vesimir.
Jun Seok I like both, I wish triss stayed in his life. Yen is a women tho but idk something about triss is so cool! But yen and geralt have so much together
Athenas Nova they have nearly nothing together. She is cruel he is neutral/nice. She is disrespectful he respects people and culture. She is selfish he helps others
Der Kral you don’t have to have things in common to be perfect for one another. Did you play the game at all. He likes red heads. But him and yen just have that spark
Athenas Nova I played it. 3 times and it always seems like their love is magical like someone put a spell on them. Like it’s a wish. You get what I mean? They are only like this because of the djinn. After the spell was removed you can make geralt loose all his feelings for her
I love Ciri's reaction when she returns to her old home and hugs Papa Vesemir and all the others and that everyone is just so happy to see her again. The Joy in her eyes is just priceless, especialy if you know what she has been through and what will happen next... I dunno, I love this moment :)
I'm low key obsessed with Yen. Maybe because she reminds me so much of my woman. But damn something about a well spoken, mentally strong woman gets me going. She's the perfect fit for a badass like Geralt. She's just as knowledgeable in different materials. And doesn't let Geralt's brash personally constantly claim the spotlight. I love literally every scene she's in. Everyone claims Triss is premier wife material but Yen is maternal in nature. She's very endearing. When she flirts it's charming. When Triss does it feels forced.
For me opposite my women was like yeniffer too bossy all time and used my money and then after few days she cheated me so easily... Thing is women who are always angry and bossy with u are never satisfied with u in reality
Haven't read the books. Did not play first Witcher game. Played Witcher 2, romanced Triss there. I remember the garden scene when Triss magically removed her dress. "Hmm.." Someone kidnapped her. Whelp, time for a massacre then. Eyes crimson with rage. Someone asked if I wanted to save Triss or do something else. "You dare even ask that question?" Chose to save her. I will let the country burn as long as she's safe. Someone's trying to turn me against my Triss. Emphasis on 'try'. Believed her and did not doubt her. "I will always be on your side, princess." Played Witcher 3, met Yen for the first time. "Ahh... so this is the infamous Yennefer I kept hearing about. She's no Triss that's for sure." Met Triss again. "You in trouble, princess? Then here's your knight in shining armour." Could not sit around while they torture her in the other room. I care not for some random guy's treasure. Had to kill the guy. Triss got mad. Told me we needed info for Ciri. Hard choice, that. Had to reload the game. Kept choosing a balance between information and minimizing Triss' torture....did not find it. Had to endure. "I will have your head after this." I whispered as I talked with the dead man or soon-to-be-dead man. Another romance scene for Triss. I chose her in the 2nd game so of course. Finished Triss' arc and very conflicted at the ending. Could have chosen Triss again but somehow didn't. Something about choosing Triss seemed off. I chose to let go of Triss. "Go and be the selfless sorceress you want to be, princess. I won't hold you back." Some guy called me an idiot. "I know. I know." Played the main arc. Yen doesn't seem so bad. Loved the banter here and there. Like an old married couple. She seemed genuinely worried for Ciri, at least worried enough to accompany me in looking for her. If only Triss would have done the same. But that's not the Triss I know. Yen had to perform some excruciating method on some elf to return him to his old elfself and give info about Ciri. Everyone's a good guy and against it. Something about a sacred ritual and it being too painful and cruel. I'd kill the elf a thousand times if it means saving Ciri. I'm with Yen on this one. "Torture away, dear." Yen's unsure of us. "Don't do this. I chose you. Reluctantly at first but still...." Played thru Yen's arc (djinn). Something clicked. They were bound by a djinn? And she thought whatever it is we have is not real. She had to make sure. And now she is. I am too... Yep, Yen seemed more than alright. Family time with Ciri and Yen at the expense of someone's home? Count me in. Finished the main arc. Yen and I are in our small, secluded hut with flowers to attend to. A boring life. It's perfect. Next playthrough I played with sincere loyalty to Yen. Never looked back again. My assessment of Triss and Yen? Triss is selfless like a disney princess and chose to save other people. At her own expense. Did not know of her hidden agendas and plottings as noted by others who knew better. None of that came up during my playthrough. But she did not come with me to find Ciri. We clearly have different priorities. Yennefer on the other hand, raised hell to save Ciri. Did not care in the slightest about others as long as she finds Ciri and make sure she's safe. Same as me. I knew of some of her plottings against others. I didn't mind. We share the same sentiment. Quite an easy choice for me after knowing that.
I fell in love with triss during that party where we're all wearing a facemask disguise, it was the part where we're by the garden in the bush maze and I pick her up and there's a choice you're being timed to make weather to kiss triss or not and I just had to kiss her lol
"I'd kill the elf a thousand times if it means saving Ciri. I'm with Yen on this one. "Torture away, dear." Yep... If you like Yen you truly need to be this way... Triss is more about doing things without being truly bad in the way... I choose good over evil...
Ngl, I do wish Netflix gave us this Yen. Seeing Yen genuinely run in excitement towards Ciri stands out so much because we are used to a composed & calm Yen who clearly loves Ciri. Netflix really gave us a Yen that cusses endlessly, yells, is definitely not composed/in control, & even attenpted to sacrifice Ciri’s soul to a demon last season 💀 Ooh Netflix, you earned this exodus of audience
I feel more sorry for Yen because of this scene and a couple of others. You see how wary Ciri is when faced with that greeting? She hardly seems to know what to make of it, probably because she has rarely (if ever) before seen anything that looks like honest, positive emotion from Yen. She almost acts as if she thinks she's being set up for something. Later in Skellige there are a couple of scenes showing Ciri and Geralt laughing together while Yen stands off to the side looking sad. Yen obviously envies the bond between those two and would like to have a similar bond with Ciri, but has long since blown her chance to achieve it because of her inability to show real affection.
@@brettmiddleton7949" One evening, of her own initiative, unasked, casually, joyfully and embellishing a great deal, she told the enchantress about her first meeting with the witcher in Brokilon Forest, amongst the dryads who had abducted her and wanted to force her to stay and become one of them. ‘Oh?’ said Yennefer on listening to the story, ‘I’d give a lot to see that - Geralt, I mean. I’m trying to imagine the expression on his face in Brokilon, when he saw what sort of Surprise destiny had concocted for him? Because he must have had a wonderful expression when he found out who you were?’ Ciri giggled and her emerald eyes lit up devilishly. ‘Oh, yes?’ she snorted. ‘What an expression? Do you want to see? I’ll show you. Look at me?’ Yennefer burst out laughing. That laughter, thought Ciri watching swarms of black birds flying eastwards, that laughter, shared and sincere, really brought us together, her and me. We understood - both she and I - that we can laugh and talk together about him. About Geralt. Suddenly we became close, although I knew perfectly well that Geralt both brought us together and separated us, and that that’s how it would always be. Our laughter together brought us closer to each other. As did the events two days later. In the forest, on the hills. She was showing me how to find . . ."
I like Triss just as much as Yen. I chose Yen though because it just makes so much sense seeing as they are like parents to Ciri. Yen is a bit more attractive as well.
Fiery, independent, calculating even combative girl vs dainty, sweet, feminine girl. Even their physical appearances and clothing choices reflect their respective personalities. I picked Triss because she's sappy and cute whereas Yen wants to catch the hands. Also Triss is arguably prettier (personality is really the dealbreaker).
I red the book before playing the games so it was Yen all the way for me, Triss was just a fling for Geralt in the books and she was no match to Yen on any aspects xD
@@piddquinn4847 The Lambert thing more like CDPR and some players try to mess with Triss fans, more likely, there is no hard proof for the cheating thing,it is all depend on how u picture the game, lol.
dont know about any of you guys, but NO other game has played out a triangle love affair so eloquently as this series has :D and this scene itself is major gold at that. if you take triss's side, you get this scene, and if you chose yen, then its triss who has a sad face rather then a jealous tone as yens which is priceless of each characters feelings. just love this series. just sad theres no more DLCS cant wait for another witcher
Guys who like proud, fiery ladies with a temperament will pick Yennefer. She is the wittiest woman in the whole game (haven't gotten to Blood and Wine yet, but don't see anyone topping Yennefer) and the one that just knows how to kick your ass with a few smart phrases. Awesome and sexy attribute of a woman. And just like in real life, the best approach to such ladies is to appreciate their beauty but show none of it and not really take them all too serious (in a playful way). Glad the game gives you one or two options to do that :D
Man...you missed the pun-banter in the Freya garden! I always had a thing for Yen, since the first time i read the books, (even affected my RL choices)but that scene made my affection light up from a..volcano to a supernova xD
Really always felt like Triss didnt feel like a good match for Geralt. I also feel people picked Triss over Yen and i also belive Triss a low key slick ho
To hell with both of them. Geralt's best pairing was that female bard(forgot her name) from the 3rd or 4th book(not Priscilla) that died due to the plague. That was heartbreaking. I always wondered how it would have turned out with them if Geralt wasn't too preoccupied up with trying to find Ciri.
@Geralt of fucking Rivia - Maybe. I don't remember. The female bard I'm talking about was a friend of Dandelion who Geralt met while traveling south in search of Ciri. They traveled together for a while and they went their own ways after. It was never mentioned whether they met again. And the book said she died a few years later due to a great plague, and that Dandelion carried her body outside the city and buried her.
@Geralt of fucking Rivia - Really? Then it must be during one of their stops. I am 100% positive he met a female bard who was Dandelion's friend (again, not Priscilla. I don't think Priscilla was even in the books.). I think during that time, Yennefer was rarely mentioned in the books anymore since she went after Vilgefortz. Damn, I need to read those books again.
Is it a testament to how great this game is, when after 200+ hours, I'm still finding scenes that occurred in my video even thou I chose the same exact option. Whaaaat!
I know the scenes with triss were mostly added after launch but it always feels weird seeing Yen kiss Geralt after you break her heart and do it right in front of Triss. Like, I know you are happy I brought our little girl back and all but keep it in your pants woman xD
Thats why i choose triss. She is so calm and passionate. Last play through i was wuth yennefer. Triss only looked at both of them and walk away. But what yen did 🤣
@@FoxyChariot after manipulating her best friends lover for many years and then fucking him while he had no memories of her. And then when she finally did tell him about her she made it seem like it was more toxic and unwanted on geralts side than it was
Hasn't Triss raped Geralt, manipulate him into falling in love with her after he lost his memory, use Ciri for her own means, having no consideration for what Ciri wants, and has admitted to only wanting Geralt to fall in love with her because she's jealous of how happy he and Yen are?
@@AL-lz6px Yes. And when Yen does something shitty, she makes excuses and gets mad that you're mad. Triss actually feels bad, admits her mistakes and tries to make up for them. Triss admits her own faults, Yen arrogantly thinks herself flawless.
@@jeramahia123 I genuenly don't remember Yen making excuses for her mistakes in this game. However, I'm making a new playghtrough and am in Skellige. Maybe something like that will happen.
Al Nightmare while I don’t know much about the raping and manipulation, I know that in relations to Ciri she’s willing to be tortured while Geralt retrieves information from someone
for those hating on triss because of the books in the books yennefer cheats on geralt even when she has her memories plus she treats geralt like dirt just saying i prefer romancing neither and geralt ending up alone i like the idea of him leaving them both behind
edgy monkeys true Witcher way fuck em and dump TBH I thought about it but it's been I think 20 years since she cheated on him and she seems to really love Geralt I could tell based on her face when you break up with her if you choose to do that. And I also love the idea of Ciri comming to live with me in the end of blood and wine.
Geralt cheats on her as well though in the book. So they're both guilty of that. In the book Triss is a lying manipulative backstabbing "friend" of Yennefer 😂 Plus the books, especially the Lady of The Lake show that Yen was Geralts one true love and they were meant to be together 🤗
@@maemacinnes1129 Well, the reason why he cheated on Yen was because Geralt thought Yennefer betrayed him and Ciri. So he thought what they had was over and decided to sleep with Fringilla. It was still a mistake tho, just not as bad as Yen's.
@@bonxlinx From what I remember of the books, I think she did it because Geralt wouldn't stick around, and it seemed like he never would. The details are foggy, but none of the characters in that world are guilt-free.
I think it’s all down to personal preference. When I first played this game I was sown on choosing Yen. Then I went through the game Yen really pissed me off. No way I’d like a partner digging at me, treating me like a dog as Keira Metz put it. So I chose Triss because I felt I was actually appreciated for my efforts AND I wasn’t treated like a dog. It seemed more like teamwork with Triss. No constant digs. Lower maintenance. I get why Yen was trying to do the things she did. But she just seems more intent on treating Geralt like a dog bossing him and others about. The death looks from Triss to Yen particularly at 1:56 and 3:25 very funny.
I've never played a game that gets me worried about the outcome, had me deep with mix emotions, etc...Really hope there is a Witcher 4 in the future with a deeper storyline and way more stuff to do. Witcher 3 is prolly the best game I've ever played...loved it!
Of course, like in any 'romance Triss' videos there are those who quote the books to justify choosing Yennefer. Are you all really that stupid to treat the books as holy grails in a game in which YOU control the character? Preferring Yennefer over Triss is fine, but doing so and belittling people who preferred Triss just because Yennefer is Geralt's "lover" in the books is pathetic. Also, for all that you people quote the books, it seems you really didn't understand it. Geralt and Yennefer didn't fall in love naturally, but rather are bound to each other because of a wish (i.e. akin to person x giving a love potion to person y, and then claim they love each other). Pfft what a joke. And btw, I read the books and still preferred Triss
People aren't treating the books like a holy grail. It's just that the books are what people use to assume the character of Geralt. You've read the books, so you know for a fact that Geralt would NEVER choose Triss over Yen. They were bound to each other by fate through a wish to a Djinn, but what they experienced after that still stayed with them. I highly doubt that they'd have no feelings for each other even after they free themselves from the djinn's power. Compared to all of that, Geralt and Triss don't have a lot to go on. It's not that people prefer Yen over Triss. It's that people know Geralt prefers Yen over Triss. It's Geralt people are playing as, and they know that Yen and Geralt were tied by fate even before they'd met. It's a role playing game and they're playing the role. So calling people pathetic and a joke, it seems that you're the one not understanding it. You may have read the books, but you clearly didn't read between the lines. However I agree with your point that nobody should criticize other people's choices in the game.
I played witcher 3 when I hadn't read a single book didn't know a single thing about the lore and I still chose Yen. Triss seemed like a side fling while Yen seemed to be the person Geralt loved that's how I saw it my first game play. And I couldn't deprive him of his true love.
By the time of Witcher 3 Geralt has both his old memories from the books, and his new memories from the games, that might change his perspective on who he prefers.
I'm Team Yen but you don't have to apologize for your own video. You have the right to play the game as you wish, making your own decisions and nobody should make you feel bad about it.
I think there has actually been a lot of very informative discussion on this video! I do recommend the books, they are truly a fun read. I really am a "fanboy" at this point, so my review should be viewed as such :P I played W3 before reading the books or playing games 1&2. Actually bought a new computer to play W3, that's how hard I fell for the game. So I do understand how people could find Triss an attractive choice (I'll leave discussions of physical attractiveness to those attracted to females). But as I stated elsewhere, I've been on team Yen before I knew there was such a thing, and reading the books just made it impossible for me to even play through and choose Triss now that Geralt has his memory back. So videos like this are the only way I'll ever see these scenes!! (and I'm on my 4th playthrough...)
This game is far from reality if this really happens and you hooked up with 2 women and the other woman looked at you as you kissed the other you would be dead even before you know it. It doesnt matter if you are a witcher or a damn goku you are getting obliterated for sure.
One would hope that after all this time Geralt would have learned that messing with sorceresses just doesn't work well for him. Dumping them both seems like a mighty good idea to me.
Personally as a non reader of the books I decided to play the Witcher 2 just to have a better point of view of the story and this amazing world so with that experience and obviously all the moments with Triss my decision was taken in a second, I’m in love with Triss, she’s so sweet and cares about her friends.
Romancing Triss always felt wrong to me... i never read the books, and yet i knew Triss is manipulative from the start... ALSO Hearing Yenn yell CIRIII in a motherly tone made the choice that much more clearer to me
Xyzen Well Yen is not perfect either. She uses Geralt most of the time like her dog (These are the exact words Keira commented about Yen romance) Leaving Geralt and doesn’t saying anything for years and then only meets him because Emperor wants Geralt. I have finished this game once and I chose Yen back then. These days I have started again with DLCs and I will be trying Triss romance I think.
Don't mean to cause conflict but it's pretty obvious that Geralt and Triss' dialogue was kind of blunt, awkward and boring. And Yennefer's interruption here was golden. In the version where you romance Yennefer you can clearly feel the chemistry between them and the dialogue isn't actually that generic. I mean you can't deny that whether you like Triss or not.
I also choose Triss. Because Yen was treating Geralt like a piece of shit. On the the other hand , Triss was always nice to him and she was caring for others too. Yen is more like heartless when something stands in her way to reach her goal , she can do anything. Btw , i didn't read books. That is a nice thing game gives you freedom of choice , just like it should be in any RPG.
Man Triss looks so pretty in that costume....I want to romance her so bad but..BUT! Yen's jealousy...it's cute too URGHHH. This game really knows how to let you experience a true love triangle lol
I bet if yen actually swallowed her pride even a little bit with him, she could have had him on lock. any sane man would pick triss given all the bullshit yen's put him through. what's the worse triss has done to him, not reminding him that he should be obsessed with her while he forgot her and was interested in triss?
What was that Cragg girl we crowned in Skellige? Can't remember, but she asks Geralt what does he find in Yennefer, all she ever does is scorn him, mock him, chastise and antagonise him. Geralt just responds ''Maybe because I've never saught peace and quiet in my life''
João Guilherme First time I played the game, I ended up alone. Not because I chose both, but because I chose no-one. Like near the end of the game I was like: “Oh shit, forgot to do that stuff” and ended up alone haha.
João Guilherme With Triss I didn’t knew the romance moment was then and there (I thought it was at that ball). With yen, yeah I straight up forgot that quest because I wanted to rush the story. On my second play trough, I did things slower.
Yen's charming, has insane charisma, committed and a strong personality. But she's not someone you can put your faith in, she's lenient to betrayal, hides her agenda, is overly assertive and tends to take liberties with her relations They have quite the toxic relationship with Geralt in the books. She's particularly insufferable in Sword of Destiny. Triss, well, she's just a bit of a childish girl who wants Geralt because of her own difficulties with relationships. She's just charmed by Geralt's respect and behaviour towards her Though in games, she's overall a bette partner when you think about it. More supportive, selfless and comelier. But she doesn't have that fierceness, passion that's scorching Yenneffer
Yes. For probably the only time in her life she has dropped her Ice Queen mask and forgotten her simmering anger at the universe. It does come across as strange, but she'd be a whole lot better off if she could learn to do it more often.
I think it’s endearing. Yen usually carries herself as cold and composed, and her little squeal and enthusiasm just shows that her greatest love is reserved for her daughter.
Damn. That alternative costume of Triss is so bad. Specially when you know that she was supposed to have scars in her entire chest, without mentioning that she loves to keep her hair free. Like that she appears more like an Elf than a sorceress. At least, that's my opinion.
My choice of romance came down to how I was portraying Geralt on any particular play-through. When I play him as 'Good-guy' Geralt and help and forgive everyone, I go with Triss. If I do 'Heartless Witcher' Geralt, I normally go Yen. I find each story holds it's own merits within the game itself, books be damned.
I was team Triss, then I read the books and went to team Yen, but its really 51/49. But to be fair if you play 2 and give the "eternal rose that never rots as long as you love each other" to Triss, well the rose is rotten in Triss' house. So even in the game we are supposed to be team Yen
@@nicolasduhaut7331 The rose didn't hit me that way at all . Broke my heart remembered 2 and moved me more towards Triss But going with Yennifer the first time is really what made me choose Triss or later playthroughs
No, you're not the only one. About the only good thing I have to say about any of them is that it does seem better for Ciri to be wearing some armor if she wants to run around with a sword and engage in melee combat. But the armored version of her outfit looks pretty silly, though it's better than something from the chain-mail-bikini school of armor design.
Hey. When you have same scene but with Yen Geralt says "Yen, I adore you", but with Triss he is discussing Yen so it's obvious who is his true love isn't it?
