I'm a Polish person, not that it means much, but watching one of our greatest cultural exports get butchered over and over again kinda hurts my soul. No matter how used I got to watching terrible media, seeing The Witcher get disrespected will always bother me.

Hey man, I'm English, the author and your culture gave us one of the greatest fantasy worlds of all time. That's the legacy of The Witcher. The fact that Hollywood have tried and failed to exploit that is down to a great fanbase seeing through the Hollywood bullshit. So don't worry my friend, the legacy is still intact and people are still very much interested in this world.

The Warhammer 40K universe is one of the most dark (eat your heart out DCEU), breathtakingly soul crushing, relentlessly harsh universes I am aware, the complete antithesis of the movies Critical Drinker and TM talk about as being what's bringing down cinema this year, and I agree. For cryst sake, the motto for the franchise is, this universe simply does not allow good guys to exist...and I am here for it! I know how much Cavill loves it; he and I started around the same age with the figures, table top games and going deep into the lore. For that reason (as well as his noble fight to stay true to the Witcher source material) I have some faith the franchise is in good hands. That said, if Games Workshop does not allow him or allows a production company like WB, Sony, Paramount, etc. to intervene in the name of corporate overreach, thus watering down the storyline then GWs days are numbered, I swear it. Kinda like Deadpool (I know, totally different vibe, but they clearly own it) if it's not offending someone then they are doing it wrong.

devils advocate here but some of the points being made about the tavern and brothel are quite wrong. any town on a trade route no matter how small would have both the tavern, having rooms for rent and food and beverage, and a brothel. but the rest of his comments were correct.

@@Likexner What I am saying is that I think part of what they do not want to encourage is the idea that different etnicitets "belong" more than others to certain areas or that such homogenous societies are made to look "attractive" to the viewer. The idea of celebrating our current multi ethnic societies born out of our modern societal opportunities is catered over stories where such conditions are not true or possible.
