They had everything - amazing actors, amazing fight choreography, amazing effects,... and an amazing story was handed to them on a silver plate by an exceptional talent of an author... why not stick to it? I'll never understand.
I'm convinced it's hubris for them. Most of them (executives, show runners, and writers) simply can't stand the idea of translating something to the silver screen without adding their own spin to it. Lore and established norms be damned.
They want add stupid things like lgbtq comms and diversity things.. I wish they stick to original so we can watch Henry Cavill again sadge..@@adammatis5527
You don't understand? It clearly wasn't woke enough. The "diversity" in the towns on the show is some of the most absurd looking world building I've ever seen. They may as well threw in some people in wheelchairs at that point it was so far gone. It was as ridiculous as the black elves and Indian female dwarfs in rings of power.
Firstly, the original cycle of novels does not sufficiently correspond to the modern “agenda”. Well, secondly, these no-name showrunners have an undeservedly high opinion of their “talents.” They, who had not composed anything successful in their lives, for some reason imagined that they were able to “improve” a masterpiece.
@@mylex817 Geralt wanted to interrogate him to figure out who he was working for. That makes sense since by the time Geralt finds him again, he kills him immediately, but by then Geralt had figured out who the mastermind was so he didn't need him anymore. In fact, that's Geralt's first line after slicing his head off, almost an explanation of why he just insta-killed a dude he previously intended to interrogate.
@@lll9107 the issue is that in this episode, they literally state that they want to trick him and kill him. And beside that, letting this very dangerous man go, just because you hope that maybe you will be able to find and defeat him again and then be able to interrogate him seems very illogical to me. Even more so, as it's not clear at that point what benefit it would bring them to find the mastermind - for all they know, almost every faction on the continent is hunting them anyway.
@@mylex817 They must have figured out their own plot hole and tried to patch it, in that case, I did not recall Geralt stating his desire to kill him. Geralt's comment immediately after slicing his head off does clearly suggest he intended to interrogate him about his master but no longer needed to. I understand it is illogical IRL but generally speaking, there are some small allowances that can be made in highly fictionalized worlds. Even Tolkien's "why didn't they just fly there?" hole can be patched up by in-world explanation that don't make sense IRL. Why not just kill a dangerous dude? Because he is Geralt, he IS the danger. He has routinely not killed dangerous things immediately for other purposes.
@@lll9107 I do agree that it's not a huge plot hole. It's just that in the new season, there are so many inconsistencies that could have been easily fixed without changing the story by much. As in this scene, just place the guy away from the portal, and maybe put an obstacle in the way, so that geralt would have to spend some a few seconds to get to him. Imo the quality of writing just dropped a lot since season 1.
@@DieBieneFranzBecause the writers messed up and Rience is needed later in the story. Just have him escape in a portal instead of making Geralt look silly.
@@attila2246 I think it's more of a director's mistake, than the writers. They could have had him not sitting there right along the way to the portal and further away from the sword. For example, if the portal on the right side of screen and have the dude right by the pillar, so that Geralt would have go out of his way to finish him.
That choreography looked complicated as hell but very well shot. You can see each move clearly, even at that speed. And the moving of the camera, the spinning. Excellent filmmaking.
So many people poured their hearts and souls into this show. Only for it to be ruined by a writing team and showrunner who took it all for granted and spat on the contributions of everyone else to stroke their own egos by trying to write their own story instead of doing their ONLY job, which was to adapt the books. The cast and crew deserved better.
The fight scenes were extremely impressive this season. Its a shame they cant keep true to the story, i think they would have had one of Netflix's greatest shows if they did!
@@vladtepes2274 In short, this series has almost nothing in common with the original story. From what I watched, the more or less original story corresponds to the story about Pavetta and Yozh and about the Butcher from Blaviken. The entire Yenifer line and 90% of Ciri's line are invented by the showrunners.
Aard in the books were meant to just keep your enemies lose balance with a gush of wind not to blow them to kingdom come like in the games lol same with Quen. They are handy spells but not as strong as a sorcerer's version of it. They got the witcher signs accurate at the very least.
How could the writers & directors do this to not just Henry...but to ALL the rest of us...? To deny us any future Geralt with Henry at the helm is...is...is a CRIME...!!! Please...someone fire the Witcher's director & new writer...get the old writer back, new director and for the love of GOD, PLEASE bring Henry back as Geralt. He was BORN to play that part. My God...I am not the only one to say & think this...!
I really do not understand why they always have Dandelion run into the fights. He does literally nothing, and just puts himself into needless danger (plot armor aside)
@@subutaynoyan5372 Just WOW are you seriously insulting the writing ability of the writers... You would think the completely in canon contradictory self inflicted end to Tissaia would completely sum up how utterly brain dead they are.
Yeah, but they fall into the same old trope that so many shows/movies do that ruins the fight scenes, namely, the armor here is just a costume, it never has any impact on a fight at all.
When you let the stuntmen and coordinators do their job this is what you get, loved this one take scene. Shame the rest of the series especially story wise is not great.
@@connorsealey24 yeah, its Eskel. but the most bs they make in season 2 is they let ciri, child of fucking elder blood get possessed by lesser witch lose to witcher
@@xathu-er2zr lmao I’ve been a fan of the franchise since I played Witcher 3 and I would prefer if it was more accurate but if you watch it for what it is it’s still a decent show
@@connorsealey24 yeah, i could careless about it if they somewhat make her elder blood look weak. but then they already make her drink water of brokilon from nibba dryad, they even add something not exist in lore like her elder blood can use make elixirs for witcher trials
Who the heck decided that Geralt would break his wrists but not kill him ??? Just have rience escape through a portal if he is needed later in the series
Because they're mixing things up. They're using two entirely different chapters in the books, mixing them on to say they're loyal to the source material This fight was supposed to be between Yarpen Zigrin's group guarding the caravan of King Henselt's aid to Temeria, and a bunch of Scoiatel gangs attacking. Geralt accompanies Yarpen's caravan with Ciri and Triss and at Shaerewedd, they were attacked. This fight is very tragic and sad, Geralt despises fighting squiatel and he would never help Yarpen and the others if Ciri's life wasn't on the line. It was a scene of how brothers are getting to eachother's throats because of propaganda and unrest. It also depicted how young elves followed Ailerenn to war 200 years ago, and thus comdemning their race to utter annihilation in so doing. Rience wasn't even in there, Geralt sets up a trap against Rience at Oxenfurt, with the help of Jaskier, Shani and Philippa Eilhart. And brutalises the Rience and his rackateers in a horrific fashion., which teaches Rience a valuable lesson on not to pick up fights against witchers, who wield runed blades that deflects spells cast at them and can murder people like butchering pigs. In the books, Geralt is a very violent man, someone whom you really shouldn't fuck with.
Its a female stunt butch lesbian trans guy named ralph with a cgi overlay of cavill. And yes these trans scum are not only found competing against women but now as (actoreeses)
Cavill and the team looked amazing!!! Two mistakes tho: one, i think there was supposed to be another sign cast or thrown dagger or something on one of the guys, as geralt throws his non sword hand up and the dude gets thrown back. Second, when geralt is fighting one of the groups of 3, he visibly kills the first one, then the second one kinda just dies out of nowhere, and half a second later he kills the last one. I think its more of an editing mistake, rather than a choreography mistake. Also, love to see the absence of reverse grip.
Im just starting to watch this season. Its bittersweet as i know its cavills last season. Man hissrich and co really fucked this up by not sticking to the books and treating the source material with contempt. And they had the perfect leading man with cavill who is a fan and wanted to do justice to the books. Its a real shame.
God I love watching Geralt fight. Its pure art. But yeah, ge dhould have cut off Reince's head with one swing on his way out back to Ciri from the protal. It would have only taken half a second to do it, then a sign to set the body on fire. Then he could have killed the elves and gone off to protect Cirilla. Its a shame honestly.
Never fight an angry Witcher. Your life expectancy is cut in half. If it's an angry Geralt and involves Ciri and Yennefer, he'll cut *you* in half. Expectancy drops to zero.
All Henry wanted is to stick to the books IS THAT SO HARD TO DO?!?! Now this awesome Geralt is gone and we will never watch this series again. Damn Netflix
Wait Geralt is still in the show? I thought it became the yennifer show. Seeing as they completely obliterated the source material. They had an amazing actor in Henry Cavil that was excited to play geralt who trained incessantly to be the best version of geralt. And they spat in his face. He said he would stay if they honored source material. Obviously they didn’t. The show is a loss. I stopped after the second season.
There were so many cuts where the fakeness was OBVIOUS. Imo the Butcher of Blaviken scene was much better choreographed and also felt much more realistic
One thing is Geralt can use his Aard to extinguish that fire mage's flame but I guess he was resting a bit since he used portal. Portals were never a good thing to travel for him xD.
i dont watch the show, but is this supposed to be the mage rebellion on Thanned? Im assuming Cahir doesn't show up. kinda dissapointing if he doesn't, considering Ciri's fear of him is such a huge part of her arc in the first few books.
Right, because 1 woman can take on multiple men and be just as strong and they can replace Geralt with..... "The Message". How'd that work out for ya? Show ended and if it hasn't/didn't it will soon enough.
First time ive seen a clip about season 3 and this was a beautifully done fight scene. I still flat out refuse to watch season 3 though... They had it all and decided not to pursue it. We could have had season 4 5 6 who knows how many cos Henry loved the franchise. Pity the writers didn't.
I love the scenes yes i can't believe it did i just see jaskier and geralt having a figh??? Did geralt anc jaskier have a fight?? 😂😂😂 i love the evil jaskier
