Nice bash on 3s Phil, i filmed some speed runs on 2S & then 3S the other day with mine and managed just under 58kph on the stock 2S lipo and 83kph on 3S, shes fast alright in a straight line! 👍

I don’t know why smoke made you think it was getting a smidge too hot, maybe the drivers got a vape mod going in there. And at those speeds he will need something.m It’s the best for the price yes, but that’s heavily reliant on the price. Which for everything is brilliant. But it’s got some glaring faults and limitations which become apparent when it’s been played with a bit. If that’s truly all you can afford I say get one. If you can save double then the market is much wider and the selection will have way more capabilities. I’ve got my ideas but it’s all down to personal preference. If someone gave me one I could sing its praise all day! I’m not intimating you have by the way x

Now and agian an affordable non big name product will come along and destroy the competition. I bought the fielun ft012 brushless boat 2 years back. Put a 4s in it and, changed to a metal prop...and the speed is insanse. Still got it.

I have to agree with you about the 3s battery. I did a few speed runs on 3s and it was ok but I did about eight minutes of video on 3s with paddle tires in the snow and the ESC was extremely hot even at the cold temperatures in the snow. Stick to 2s for bashing unless you plan to go brushless.

3s just burned the motor and receiver from me, I don’t recommend trying, it’s better to order a brushless upgrade

I have to of these I love them and I also had a amoril I think that's how u spell it it says 2 or 3s batteries so put the 3 s in it flew but 5 min later burned the motor up lol I won't use 3s no more lol wonder why it burned up only used it 5 min

You need to loctite the wheel nuts. The bolt is too short to get a good bite on the nylon. Or use low profile wheel nuts.

its really a mini hobby grade pro racer, those spare holes in the motor plate are probably right for a 4500kv 2840 size brushless, might be better balanced than a fat 550 motor, maybe a little less torque but maybe more top speed and longer run time.

Hi! I have a WLToys 12428 for my son but it’s been nothing but problems with the bad design of this thing - mainly the steering not working or the rear drive shaft breaking. But my son enjoyed it. I want to buy him something better in design and I came across the 144001 an I know it’s overall a better design (steering, oil shocks) but I also have an option to buy a HBX 16889 - the only problem is that in PL there are plenty of parts for the 144001 but none for the HBX - which on of these would you choose in terms of durability knowing that an 8 years old will drive this and I will repair it.

Mine with 3s did 0KM/h and a trickle of smoke.. Can you shot a picture to your car's stock ESC? I think it may be different in newer 144001.

I can't find any spare parts for this compared to the a959b where you can get any parts for it! Anyone had the same problem or am I looking in the wrong place!??

the 144002 is similarly quick. On 2s lipo with a proper 60a esc (aftermarket because stock kept getting very very hot) my 144002 is fast enough to be uncontrollable across anything but pavement. I can't even imagine 3s and the motor would be quite the hot tamale after that. Certainly it would never survive me doing a 20 minute power race through thick grass on 3s. 2s is pushing my luck I think on the stock motor. I keep telling myself "if you manage to blow it up you'll just *have* to buy that new motor... gosh..."
