Man, you probably never played with hexagonal barrels and the models that could not push each other or lift the tracks off the ground. The “from 2017 onwards” is probably true though.
i played from late 2011, now didn't play for quite a while and i really forgot how many things changed. This video was a nice memory refresher. It used to be a good game
I remember playing this shit back in the day, when Type 59s were terror incarnate and T-50-2 were screaming around glued to the ground by the OG physics, eating artillery alive in every match.
Goddamn Type 59s were such complete bullshit back then. Better armor than most heavier, better mobility than most mediums, punchy gun that seemed to go through everything. I remember a game where there was a full platoon of them from some unicum clan, OTTER maybe, and I just said fuck it, alt-tabbed, and went and took a shit instead of playing that game. It actually wound up being close and we might have won if I hadn't AFK'd.
@@MrWigglesWorth 200mm front :D it is a joke now. Powercreep is real :D well i stoped playing years ago but this tank was so much fun. not good fpr the game but fun :D if you had it
Loved this video. I also remember that one halloween event where you played either one of two French superheavies. There was even a working two-turret mechanic that it seemed WG was trying out, giving hope to those that wanted M3 Lee to eventually become playable.
Dude, to have this all documented, edited and commented; it's insane work for which I want to show my respects. This must have cost you hours; but it was fun to watch and I learnt a thing or two. thanks a lot!
We also still have a tech tree that's more similar to old versions of PC WoT, like the Obj. 263 and FV4202 at tier X You can still buy gold rounds with gold too lol
I stop playing world tanks a long time ago. When you read out all my favourite maps had been removed that was depressing and also the way I got my Maus is different then how you get it know was cool. Also the fact that I have that rare medium tank which you mention with the m6 looking thing. That was cool too. Amazing video!
In a month, I reach 10 years playing WoT and holy shit, all that old footage + the old garage background music you used. You gave me that much of nostalgia and you made me realize that the game I loved is long gone and it won't return... All those maps like Port etc etc, that depressing but cool in the same time garage. That mm, those tanks with weakspots. And not only that you made me remind the whole era, me coming from home after school. Thank you for reminding me what WOT used to be.
Man.... I loved those old maps.. I was a mountain goat😂 after 10years I cant belive how much the game have changed.. When they remowed the WT Auf E100 I deleted the game for a month... now looking back at the game I wish World of Tanks wouldn't have ebrs, M-V-Y s and others.. this game was awesome back then, but now its a joke... I started playing when i was 5🙂
Your comment just made me realise that in a few weeks it's been 9 years since I've STOPPED playing WoT. Damn the time flies by. But every time i see, what the game has become, I'm not sad about not playing it anymore
@@Lordy243 same I quit 2-3 years before I grad high school. I’m 21 now. Kinda glad I got into making money rather than wasting my life on a game that would have turned to trash
Yeah, i used to play it a lot, but then I quit because of work and school, not long ago i redownloaded the game and it's a whole different one, definitely not the WoT that i used to enjoy
Hi chems, I've followed you for a long time and stopped WoT for quite some time. Climbing really was one of the best gaming moments I had in WoT, thanks for the memories.
I remember playing this game when tanks couldn't fall or even lift off the ground. Fast tanks like the t-50 would just go up and down hills like rollercoasters. And then when you hit a cliff you would just instantly stop and maybe get stuck.
Played since 2012 so i experienced pretty much everything in this video. I actually loved playing historical battles with crappy low tier tanks and hunting those big scary beasts, it was so rewarding. Unfortunately majority of players wanted to play high tiers so queue times for this mode were unbearable.
When the historical battles were a thing, I was in contact with WG for some more historical stuff organized by the community (or by me) They were pretty hyped after looking at my scetches, and the talks were pretty advanced (like rewards for the best players or combining the replays into a documentary about this specific battle), but then the game mode got scrapped and I've never heard of them :D
@@DaKea90 like the people who designed a ship for wows and were in contact with higher ups about it being added then they added a completely different ship and said it’s the ship that was supposed to be your ship but we changed it with out telling you lol.
My experience with 'historical battles' was they were so poorly thought out that one side dominated...so most people didn't want to play the mode at all, and those that did mostly wanted to play the OP side...leading to long wait times, lowering the numbers even further. The low numbers were blamed for the inevitable cancellation.
@@Ocrilat it was probably better than historical battles on wows as the Germans never won due to their play style and you couldn’t use the Japanese except for Kaga only because the Germans didn’t have a CV while the Allies in the mode had a choice of 3.
I feel really old when I recognize most of the stuff that has either been removed or reworked. PZ. I C was my most favourite. Thank you for showing this. It has been many years since I stopped playing but seeing all of this brought pleasant memories of I was just a kid sitting in front of his first pc.
Fun fact, in Wargaming's crusade against climbing and exploring "unfavorable" locations, they also changed the water physics to destroy all of your momentum and speed, locking players out of many islands and obscure hiding spots that they used to be able to visit.
The deepest lore: wargaming bought up the company that made the bigworld engine to stop having to ask them for licensing permission each update they released. Wargaming (which is a belarussion company coming from minsk) bought up a bank in cyprus to circumvent trade embargos on payment processesing between it and europe and america. World of tanks is one of the highest earning games rivalling WoW, LoL and the likes and has been consistently in the top 10 of highes earnings in games There is a picture of serb with MLP figurines and a picture of stalin behind him a few tanks used to have holes in their hitbox, meaning they couldnt be damaged in some places
With the holes in the hitboxes. Some times it's still possible to find them, it's rare and happened to me once in the last 2 months. Yet I still remember the time when shooting a tank would make my shell simply disapper.
Watching this video bright so many memories of my first times playing this game back in 2012.. Or 2013.. i forget. But damn. I remember all of these patches and nerfs etc. I miss so many of those removed maps. Amazing video sir. Very lovely.
An average NA player: “Wow, they didn’t have extra penetration shells for silver? That’s crazy!” Me, a Russian, who played from 2011 till 2017, thinking every minute: “Wait, they removed what? What, that tank/mode/friendly fire/map/mechanic is gone? That’s crazy!” A very enjoyable and nostalgic video for me, and there is actually much more about the game that can still be added! How about the fact that the game was so low-poly, that even all the barrels of tank cannons were hexagonal? Or that when they started to add “HD” models they were added incrementally, patch by patch, and the easiest way to tell the new models apart were, well, actual circles in the models? How about some old events - one of the first was a secret game mode that promoted the “White Tiger” movie, where if you would queue in a T-34-85 you would have a chance to get an match on Komarin, (since removed) where all the player tanks would be only T-34-85 and a white Tiger with like 10k health, and a damage of 750 would spawn to be defeated for a special achievement? Or old maps? The ones that were overhauled, like El-Haluuf? There was an insane steep hill to be climbed in the upper left corner, a hell for all the heavies. Or the fact that the dead tanks used to be immovable, and there were actual tactics that evolved strategic deaths in choke points, like sacrificing a light tank to block the thin road that overlooks the lake and the village on the, whatsit, Lakeshire? Lakeville? Oh man, the memories…
I am an NA player who started back in 2012 and I also was going oh right they did remove that, or shit I remember starting my grind for the Chaffee back when it was the end of the LT line. Also my dad played the shit out of his t18 back in the day.
35:02 I am now watching this in mid-late 2023 only to realize that the AMX 13FL11 was just recently added to the game. Maybe the french superheavies could be added at some point as well?
some additional things: - about branching lines, Pz. III/IV used to lead to the Hummel. this was when the hummel was still tier 5, leading up to the GW Typ E at tier 8 - there's a particularily interesting message in one of the decoration descriptions of this year's christmas event...i think it was something related to ice cream...it suggested 0.8.0 as being the "Vanilla" version of the game
Surprised that you missed to mention that arties could see any enemy's firing traces without being spotted, the higher the caliber the thicker the trace was. Then they disabled it and left only the arty traces to be visible for countering. Late to the party, not sure if anybody else mentioned it. :P
I was there 900 years ago. If I remember correctly there were only 2 nations in the very beginning, Germany and USSR. Also only 2 or 3 maps, I believe. Also after the closed Beta they did a wipe and gave you credits for all the tanks you had researched but you kept crews. I know that because I still have an IS-7 crew despite newer having researched it after the wipe.
When I started, there was only the Americans Germans and Russians and I think there was maybe 8 tier 10’s in the game, and I joined when they had the ads for orcs vs tanks
@@xthetenth Atleast back then you could shoot the ears and other weakspots of tanks. WoT ruined the game in a way when they made Gold muni available for silver and removed the weakspots from tanks.
The French super-heavy FCM F1 was playable alongside some other French super-heavy (Called "Stein") in the 2017 "Leviathan" gamemode. On the subject of testing things using game-modes, I can assume it tested multiple turrets / multiple guns, since the two turrets would reload, turn, and fire independently. (absolute gem of a game mode btw).
@@michaelvonbiskhoff7771 yea but the thing is that french superheavys has the oppurtinity to shoot multiple shells at a time which can break the game and also french super heavys have decent armor of its time so if wg put them in tier 6/5/4 then they can actually have good armor and also i am pretty sure if wg realese them then they r gonna have high hp like tog
That point about how the tech trees branched out hit me pretty good, since I had a few tanks that I was grinding out for the branch instead of grinding 3 separate lines up to that point. Took a break for awhile and look at a tank that is suddenly elite with 80k exp still on it like wtf
Su 122 54 got nerfed into a ground a few patches after it was removed. The pre-removed stats look rather nice actually Lights have a 10% xp bonus from firing at HTs
that's because they were planning for it to be a tier VIII premium after it got removed, the original SU-122-54 had armor like a T-54 and had an improved IS-4 gun
@@flipeled yeah quite a lot of t9+ russian tanks have the same 122mm gun The M-62 iirc, all with 258 base pen, 340 heat and 440 alpha The only one thats different for whatever reason is 430u that has 252 base pen
I was really pissed and still am pissed when they changed this line of Russian TD, I wanted su 122 54 so bad just for the cool factor and also su100m1 while having a poor gun had very good mobility compared to SU152, yeah better gun is nice but I miss being able to zoom around, even with equipment it’s quite sluggish
@@aynersolderingworks7009 yeah. i miss the old 263, probably the most underrated t10 for the time, 3k dpm with 550 alpha, fast, heavily armored, gun was good too
29:39 The ARL 44 used to have the second turret of the FCM F1, as stock turret. I never understood why the stock ARL 44 had that big, bird cage turret, but I think it was a remnant of that tank.
This video unearthed memories I had long since forgotten. Played the game from launch until about 2015 on and off, usually checking in on major updates. Haven't really touched the game since 2015. I remember Karl mode, chaffee races, and the Fury tie in very fondly. Fury was the only premium I ever bought since it was just so cool looking.
God, I still remember when the old 8.0 update was first coming out, having actual vehicle physics instead of just being stopped at ledges seemed so mythical at the time. Crazy how different the game is now
Intriguing lore; chemical really went down a rabbit hole with this one. By the way the Karl mode was just an April Fool's joke even though they extended it for an extra week because it got good feedback apparently. I guess they listened back then.
You could farm milions of credits in Karl Mode, 250k every game. Then first ever missions appeard and those were also OP, for 6 kills (unlimited battles) you would get 500k, I still remember it because I was grinding hard for first CW meta aka BC25t, 50b, IS7, T62A and T57h. I even have 1st campagain medal.
One of the biggest changes everyone seems to have forgotten about was the shot dispersion change made in 8.6 that basically made 25% of shots go right down the middle no matter how big the aiming circle was. This is when the "Hand Of Stalin" memes came about with people one shotting enemies across the map with an on the move snapshot from a KV-2. The global accuracy nerf a couple years later undid a lot of this, but those couple years were completely ridiculous. 8.6 also made some other big changes. Before 8.6, artillery was even more powerful, with much better reload times, aim times, accuracy and even more forgiving shell arcs. While artillery can be very annoying today, I think a lot of the extreme hate for it stems from these early times, as it genuinely was stupidly overpowered. Also before 8.6, the KV-2 had 152mm HEAT shells with something 300 pen and 750 alpha - those numbers might be slightly off and I can't find a source to verify. Point is, it was completely stupid and broken. As long as you actually hit, it was a a guaranteed penetration on everything you could possibly face, and a one shot on tier 4s and 5s. The HEAT shells on the various Tier 3/4/5 derp guns also had much higher penetration back then. The Jumbo Sherman with the 105 howitzer using gold rounds was actually super troll.
36:01 Busted out laughing of how bizzare it is. Then you said most advanced lithuanian tank. And now I can barelly type from my laughter because I am from Lithuania. great content
I've been playing WOT on and off for about 7 years it's pretty cool to have these memories brought back. It's sad seeing the current state of the game tho.
This brings back memories. I used to kit out my low tier tanks with equipment specifically for countering sealclubbers (which I identified with XVM), sought them in battle and made it my sole purpose to take them out of the game, even at the detriment of the outcome of the match (such as T18 drivers, with hundreds or thousands of matches in them).
Oh yes i miss the arty from the old days. When you played in a city map and could use your arty like a TD and erase half the hitpoints of a type 5 with 1 shot.
The map "Mines" used to be called "Pagorki". One of the structures on the northeast part of the map was a doghouse. If ran over, a dog yelping could be heard. WG removed that sound file after complaints. Players from the beta (and I think the alpha?) got a special tank called the 'M4A2E4'. This tank is most likely the rarest tank you could actually get without being a CC. I still have mine. Arties used to have a bug where, after a small distance in the air, the round would instantly teleport and fall on the target, skipping most of the arc trajectory. The T23 Chems mentioned is now in the game as the T23E3, a tier 7 premium MT. The tech tree T23 top gun was a 105mm gun. The T34, as Chems mentioned, used to be a tier 9 US HT. When it was made a tier 8 premium, it had the stats it had as a tier 9 for a short while (and was, therefore, rather OP) Matchmaking was even more janky than Chems described. There used to be two templates: tier 1 and 2, then tier 3 and 4-5-6-7-8-9-10. This meant you could be fighting Mauses in your Marder 38T. There was a point where the German TD tech tree line ended with the Ferdinand. The T-54 and Type 59 broke the game for a long while. Matches were usually decided before the match started: the team with more of those two tanks won.
Also i remember back when wot was starting, wg made complete progress resets to every player, it happened at least twice as I remember. Would be pretty nice if someone can confirm when it was, maybe 2013 and less? ( this meant you had to completely start over again, and so did everyone)
@@neonlight1214 if this happend it was way before 2013. I started playing in April 2011 and I never had my account reset. I was on EU though, maybe it did happen on some other server.
@@neonlight1214 that happened on console. I was a closed then an open beta tester for wot on the Xbox 360 in 2013. Only 2 lines, German and USA and they reset our progress twice in a short period, twice I JUST made it to the e100 then 😁

35:47 the rockets on the side of the turret were literally called "TT-250 Tank Torpedo" and would technically be the biggest caliber in the game with a diameter of 420mm If it was added it would be a tier 8 premium obviously
@@distinctjackal9016 and the maximum depression for the tank rockets are +5 degrees, so the meme tactic is to back yourself into a building so you can actually shoot straight with em
Light tanks used to stop at tier 5* before tier 8 Edit, i kept watching and you mentioned it. Great job. I started playing in 0.7.4 The big changes i can remember was 8.0, (physics) Wargaming devs used to participate in clan wars, they streamed the games and lost a bunch. Tank companies were ruined. Artillery had Hp and vision, and apcr... Wte100, kv1s, old hellcat, kv3/4 T-22 used to be absolutely broken... Most maps have undergone enormous balancing patches Artilley have a limit per match, though they had to limit them per match down to 5, then down to 3 per. We used to see upwards of 13 per side (you mentioned this as i am typing this- we would artillery rush and shotgun eachother) Gold rounds and consumables used to be gold only purchasables... "On-track" events began with the is-7 sometime after 8.5 - 9.0 or something The batchat 155 58 used to have a 5 round clip. Rip Tank soccer was fun, rocket league wasn't a big game back then...
They removed so many of the really good maps. Windstorm for example was awesome. As was Northwest. And Port was fun as well. Windstorm and Port especially since they weren't just a symmetry fest like most other maps are. Also older versions of sacred valley were fun, before they kept updating it ruining it more and more until they eventually removed it. And I'll never forgive them for removing south coast without even trying to "fix" it. Like sure, it had some balancing issues. But I don't even remember it going through really noteworthy significantly different iterations. It was just suddenly gone.
I miss windstorm & northwest so much. City & flanks were equally fun. My first ever game in the O-I exp back when it was a monster was on windstorm and I wiped floor with a high cal + 5 kills. Good times.
Was really fun to watch. I remember it all and where here since the start. I remember seing an add on youtube and downloaded it 11 years ago on my crappy lap top. So i remeber all from the video.
Such a cool video, I am not really active WoT player and come back once in a while to check what is new. My account is like 12 years old and its cool seeing some of the old stuff I experienced back in the day.
Something to add on just seeing those old French super heavies, the first Halloween event with the Leviathan hell tank driving around, you were inside these French heavies with both turrets usable, was a fun mode for its first Halloween event
great video. Thinking about weird stuff on wot, that one bug that all of the suden made ur tank to go loco spinning or sometimes killing urself in the process. dark bug I guess
I’ve never felt so old… thank you so much for this video❤

21:25 - The big ensk! The devs actually was testing a new game mode, with waves of bots attacking players. Bots were obviously "Supertesters" (which I was back then in 2014), and the players were the devs themselves. We had a strict scenario to follow. Our goal was to capture all three bases they had to defend. Or to kill all of them. They could respawn for several times. What a nostalgia you brought up....
they later added this pve mode in as an event a few years back with actual bots this time. you would pick either the t34 and su100 or sherman and wolverine (iirc). i forgot what the mode/event is called but i swear it existed because i have like 3 2d styles for russian tanks and american tanks which i use it on my tier 8 premiums

@@shilka7020 I have played esports on WoT PC for more than 4 years now, the game isn't just fun anymore, the meta is toxic as hell and it's diving down in never ending depth. Blitz is basically 2012 PC but with actual improvements. Also the competitive scene has prizepools multiplied tenfolds, despite the playerbase being much smaller and the competitive scene being worse overall.
Listing some stuff that goes unmentioned here for whatever reason. Agrimotor tractor is a nod to the most memetic vehicle of "Men of War", a strategy game that WoT is based on. Light tanks used to have +5/-1 MM, allowing ELC AMX to fight Maus. Then it was changed to +4, then to +3 and then light tanks got streamlined into what we do have now. Waffentrager E110 isnt the first boss battle that WG has added into the game. Back in 2012 there was a Wieber Tiger to go pair with the film of the same name, where players on T-34-85 had to face a unique Tiger P, driven by the dev with 14 thousands HP and teleporation abilities. Speaking of 34-85, it also had 100-mm gun LB-1 with great stats, which actually differs from the czechoslovakian variant. Pz. 4 Smalturm also was a tech tree variant.
that feeling when most of your wot knowledge comes from 2011-2013 and almost every time he says "you probably know that", you dont but when he talks about something old and obscure, you treat it as something normal edit1: OH MY GOD i played project tank so much... i used BT-7 the most because its gun was literally broken it did over 200dmg instead of 20 (it was probably some programmers mistake) one time i took out three KV-1s (tier V) with my BT-7 (tier III) XD edit2: one thing that wasn't mentioned in the video (or i somehow missed it): you could go from M4A3E2 Jumbo Sherman directly to M6 that's what i did, and now i have M6, T29 and T32 but i never ever owned T1 Heavy
I did the same thing with m4e3a2 but you could go straight to t29 and skip t1heavy and m6 tho u would be forced to play with stock 76mm gun on t29 cuz 90mm was only on m6 I still havent unlocked t1heavy and m6 and i already own t32
@@simontapaj2313 yeah you can go straight to T29 now, i think they changed it from M6 because it was too easy to get into 2 lines at once now you have to suffer a bit with a stock gun on T29
Fun fact, two of these multi turreted french super heavys playable during an Halloween event against the "Leviathan". Their names in this mode were Franken and Stein. Also #BringBackDragonsridge it was one of my favorites
IIRC Rivertown is an actual map on console, and it was pretty good, there was a heavy side dcraping corridor to the west above a waterfall, but an elevated open section that was dominated by mainly lights to the west of this meaning the lighter tanks could decide the fate of the heavy corridor. There was always a TD shootout across mid between the two towns, and there was a hull down position on the far east, that is vulnerable to flanking mediums on the centre east. It was a pretty fun map....If not for artillery being able to hit anyone just about anywhere except under bridges
Really great nostalgia trip, I loved Chaffee racing. There was a glitch/feature where you could change the officer to a unskilled one and hang corners tighter, getting to the end much faster. Only a few clans knew and abused tf out of it like myself.
18:53 Bro, I felt so sad that some maps were removed, I loved the aesthetics of Secret Valley and I have many memories of others mentioned like the Pantano map, I'm really sad I haven't played in a while and 5 of all the maps you mentioned had some memory involved
Man this brings back so many memories. I remember playing World of Tanks on minimum settings during middle/high school and it was my go to game aside from Team Fortress 2. The Races, the 8 bit Karl, the IS-8 Ball, ive been there. Over seven thousand battles, and I havent touched the game since 2016. Its a shame what greed did to the game, it still has so much potential, but Wargaming doesnt care about their community and continues to focus on lining their pockets. I used to really enjoy World of Warships too but, that as well has been falling apart. As for World of Tanks, I miss playing my Tog II, and loved the fury when it was added after the movie release. I dont think itll ever take off again, not unless some massive overhauls are done. "You were good son, real good, maybe even the best"-Soldier.
oh man, i remember all the fun i had with the t18 tier 2 TD, 95% of tier 2 tanks couldnt pen its face, apart from other T18's that had the fast reload low alpha gun, the HE shell was so fun, only the british medium tanks couldnt be oneshotted, everything else was a 1blast 1 kill deal, good times
I stopped playing around the tech tree redesign and was super confused when I tried the game again. Gave up when it became abundantly clear Wargaming didn't care about making a game, they wanted slot machines on tracks, and focused more on lootboxes and microtransactions than making a balanced game. All of the tricks to get people addicted using gambling mechanics are there, and once you see them it's hard to go back. RNG when you fire and where your round will go, RNG on how much damage you receive or if the round bounces, overpowered gold ammo (that sure you can buy with silver, but it will bankrupt you if you don't pay in), lootboxes, etc, etc, $$$$
Agree with everything except gold ammo making you bankrupt. You can play with full gold and food and not lose credits if you're running a credit booster. Premium tanks also earn you a shit ton.
@@cooooolnoone I've never paid for credit boosters yet I have 300+. Also, I started running full gold and consumables recently too, because why TF not lol. I have over 50m silver and even with full gold and consumables with no booster, I still make a profit, and I'm slightly above avg, so why not? Though i still load 50/50.
This was an amazing trip down memory lane!!! Thank you so much!! I started back in September 2012 and it is to this day my most played game ever... I vividly remember so many moments, and I will cherish them forever Until they drove everything to hell and nerfed the ELCs penetration What a shame
Tbh i dont even mind the nerf of elcs penetration...i loved the mobility of the tank and its not what it used to be...before u could circle around even medium or light tanks nowadays freakin heavies outruns ya
@@simontapaj2313 it was going with 65 km/h and it could reach that speed so much faster than today because of stronger engine, today it reaches 60 kmh max and since it has a shittier engine it can't turn or accelerate fast
I havent played WoT for at least 3 years now, but I started very early (almost on release in 2011). Here's a couple of fun facts: 1) The old Physics didn't have any walls that prevented from falling, but was kind of like the first iteration of the Physics except you're stuck to the ground. By limiting your climbing possibilities from +60 to -60 degrees every time you were about to exceed them the game would stop you, so if you were trying to fall off an edge you would be stopped once you reached -60 degrees inclination and left hanging up until you reversed from it. This also meant that if somehow you managed to overcome by little this "never-exceed" limit you couldn't reverse from it and was basically stuck. 2) The old MM for tier 4+ tanks was -2 +4, meaning that the KV with the 107mm gun could face Tier 9 tanks (I still remember as a young teen how mad I was for the split KV :c). 3) Some tanks (usually soviet) had ridiculous guns balanced by either reload and/or accuracy, for example: T-28 soviet tier 4 tank had an 85mm gun and wasn't even too difficult to aim and the reload was ok, the old KV-1S had the IS's 122mm gun with worse stats, but was super op nonetheless (oneshotting hopeless tier 4s was exhilarating), the M4 sherman had the possibility to mount a 120mm (? maybe 105mm I can't remember exactly) with ridiculous HE pen and damage but you could mount only on the stock turret and others I'm definitely forgetting 4) one of the first tanks removed because it "wasn't historical" (lmao) was the T-50-2 because, and I'm almost quoting SerB here "it wasn't supposed to be a motorcicle shooting at 70kph IRL"... RIP. There are a ton more, but I will still fondly remember WoT as the game that I grew up with, either raging bacuse of RNG or the limited times I managed to carry or made friends in it. Thanks WoT.
29:45 if I remember correctly a tank that looked like the FCMF1 was used in a Halloween game mode vs AI, where you had two separate functional turrets.
Its so fascinating to see what have wot have become, since i stopped playing when they removed (my beloved) t50-2. Every "used to" to fact is basically how i remembered the game
I can actually vouch for the AMX arty bug, there was also a bug with that arty specifically that allowed you to fire the gun behind you if an enemy was behind you while also being "in" your reticle
Mine was elc amx (its name was later changed to amx elc bis) i loved how i can just circle around HT and fight 8 tier tanks and be a dangerous opponent if left alone
Oh boy Company Battles! This brings back memories, from way back when i was just a whipper snapper with my Tiger 2 sitting and watching how my dad and his friends used to demolish lobbies. He was so dedicated to the game him and his band of friends had ridiculous win rates at 65% (i clearly remember them all being purple using that WT mod or somehow it's called). They would accept only other high win rate players or only "accepted" ones as they would know each other by nickname who was good or great. It was so impressive watching them coordinate ambushes when svetliaks(scout tanks but in russian servers they were called svetliak roughly translates "lighter" or "the one that lights up others". Scouting used be called lighting up as if you can't see anything because it's dark and you need light to see. I think it was one of the reasons why the light bulb perk for when you're spotted is a light bulb) would look/spy for enemies' movement. Ambushes when 7 or so tanks would line up diagonally covering each others' sides and leaving front plates angled at enemy, quickly focusing down tanks one at a time. Myself haven't had a chance to play them, but oh boy it still was interesting. It reminded me of raiding in random MMOs where you would gather groups and look for specific roles.
12:54 i used to lowkey be a big fan of quickybaby's tank company vids. actually enjoyable the way he was chilling with his fans/clanmates while legit play the game because he wanted to and not because of the money. oh how the mighty have fallen.
I used to have a great time because a WGNA guy, MajorRampage, would hop on for a few hours every friday. 500 gold for everyone on the opposite team if they matched against him, 1000 for beating him. Easy way to fill out the queue.
6:30 omg, all the memories from this old tech tree, missing the old wot, remember games with even 10 + arties in both team or with lovely t-50-2 meeting Maus and Is-7
One thing I did love about the gw tiger with the 17cm. Long barrel reloaded faster then the 21cm and had better pen. Every now and then I would say f it and load all ap and go with the tds. If it was a heavy tank they couldn't pen I could just back up and use arty mode to get top pens on the hull or turret and could knock out a heavy in 1 or 2 shots. Ap loaded arty was always a surprise for those that came across them.
0:29 belarussians* 3:25 113 too 4:33 also valentine II 11:16 they also tested multiple turret mechanics that isnt in the game during halloween 2017 16:35 T-60 can choose one gun with 50 shell-clip too 17:30 there was also a cool place on old pilsen on southern base between trains 19:18 also winterberg (ruinberg) and some fiery variant of prokhorovka i forgot the name of, there were many more guns and destroyed tanks etc. 25:49 same with T95E6 33:06 only on NA tho (at the moment lol, black market soon) 33:40 they are purchasable on chinese server i loved the video
Also, there is a painting with victor kinsyl holding a torch, and his first employees around it in the Ensk map. also in ghost town there is a lot of Kvas (bread juice idk) that was popular back in the days. Judging by the popularity of these carts, barrels, WG employees probably loved these as a kid.
Honestly that's one of the best WoT videos I've ever seen. Been playing it ever since 2011/12 and even though I could have sworn I knew every nook and cranny about the lore of it, I learned some new things. Pretty sure you could even do a whole second video about it if you talk more about the community surrounding it like the SirFoch incident when the Chrysler K released, or that korean player that had over 10,000 games on the pre-rework ELC AMX. Have a wonderful day.
