Here is the dyno video from this car! Walked in with 532whp and two transmissions gone in one day, how about it? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Kg98GFCH6U.html
I have a 2002 maxima SE manual my dad used to drive when he was alive he used to race it all the time I’m 16 now and my mom want to trash the car but I’m gonna make an effort to fix it up and make it as nice as the one I just saw, this gives me some hope. I wanna be able to do what my old man did. Everything I make is going to go towards this car thank you for the inspiration. I would love to be able to message you guys and hopefully get some tips on restoring this car. Thank you
casey escobar I wasn’t driving fast I was doing 35-40 (speed limit is 45) someone thought it would be fun to slam on the brakes so I hit mine and tried to change lanes but the wind got the back end and I started to fishtail and ended up in a steep ditch
Zachary Torres I got a 5th gen Maxima that I just had to dump $1,400 for a new rack and pinion and outer tie rod just to pass Maryland State Inspection I'm not too happy about it cuz I pay 1500 for the car so my next Maxima it's going to be a street build. My current motor has 234,000 miles so I might just swap it. I still don't know what to do
str8 6 fetish I just bought one few months ago it's my second one I did all the work in my garage I felt I lost alot of money to before but after I moved into a home and had a garage I went to harbour freight it's a hardware store around Orlando and did all the work my self changed shocks all my steering rack everything coil packs spark i try to do it all watched alot of videos on RU-vid also to help
im in the VW world now but the vq30 and the maxima specifically is like the girl i used to talk to and still have a thing for which can come back alive at anytime, missing my 4th gen
Sergio Aguirre You do realize there are 1200 whp RB inline-6 blocks right? See the problem with Honda is they only make 4 bangers and V6s. Neither are ideal for making massive amounts of whp, to the point of breaking world records. Even Toyota has the JZ series. Honda has neber made a car with an I6 engine in history. They're the lowest quality, most boring auto maked out of the Big 3 in japan. Civics literally break or tear their own frame apart at high speeds unless you do external mods on the body frame. Hondas are not build for high speeds
I have an 04 that I’ve lost interest in since it was total loss’d by my insurance company but this video has surely inspired me to get it back to its glory.
I knew somebody that had an '09 Maxima (oddly, his name was Dave too)that happened to be a stick shift car too and it must have been the first front driver he'd driven with much power. I bought a 3.6l Chrysler 200 new in 2012 and when he found out that those were rated at 283hp, he warned me about torque steer and said how much of a handful his Maxima was, especially when he first bought it. I ended up telling him that I had owned a couple of Chrysler's turbocharged K-Car offshoots from the 80's and that this wasn't going to be my first rodeo when it came to torque steer.
Some days I think it's time to finally sell my '02 six-speed, but then I see a video like this and think, what an awesome sleeper an old silver Maxima would make.
Jay Stein only if they see it dude! really ! Iam sorry but are there 600+ hp Maximas running around that you've seen? I know a couple of low budget jobs with rims but not this amount of work professionally done! Let people have there opinion bro. peace on earth my man!
No offense, but I disagree - Exhaust out the front bumper, FMIC, the loud sounds it makes even when idling, the drop and the wheels don't classify that as a sleeper IN MY OPINION.
I love maximas so much. They really don’t get enough love in the community as people prefer the G35 for the RWD platform on the same engine. I’ve seen some sick maxima build from this generation and the 7th gen is one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen.
@@BrandonP43 yeah man Maxima's are definitely slept on. I remember driving a manual vq as a tech after some service. Was surprisingly sweet. I'm a VW guy. But I like anything unique. And this thing has that clean "ain't playing" look. Obviously it's fast lol. But it looks it too.
@@vr6prodigy I was so close to buying a 2011 maxima after my Santa Fe died on me. I wanted a good car to get into modding with. Ended up going the VW route and buying an Audi A4 and it’s gotta be one of the worst decisions. I love German cars but the availability and price of parts is really a bummer. Haven’t got around to modding ANYTHING on it and am probably going to trade it in for a Maxi or a Silverado when I get right side up on the loan.
First car was a nissan (97 sentra) and been looking to get back into something nissan. The 5.5 Max is what I've been eyeballing. This pretty much helped me make up my mind.
Damn! I have had love for this car for many years ever since I researched the 02 and 03 maxima even for a standard sedan it packs a punch from factory with 2plus hp and 2plus torque is amazing. Currently thinking of getting another car and it will definitely be those year VQ's. Amazing work man.
@@joshragan8384 I never got a straight answer from the dealer, they changed my oil, put in additives and monitored it. They claimed not to know where the oil was going, a customer with a 370z came in with the same issue. Nissan knows what it is but they just didn't want to issue a recall. I've since sold by beloved 6 speed SE, a few years back. After having 4 maximas I. My lifetime the worst experience was with the newer engines.
@@anthonymcfarlane3014Hmm. I knew I messed up buying this car when the dash says 333,xxx miles. It had gone through about a qrt of oil a day until I just changed the oil with 15w50 couple days ago and it seemed to slow the oil burning some but we will see what happens. It has a lil bit of a knock at certain rpms also. Well thanks for the reply.
My 96 takes abuse. My mom crashed her car, she is using my 5spd 96 to get around. It never dies I’m sure all my neighbors hate it. It has plates that say MAX2ENV and it looks like a model with mud on her face, and a mean straight face look. It’s the most reliable car. Better than accords, better than civics, Camry, anything. Love the Vq good engines.
Beautiful car man, though I didn't know the 3.5 Came with this bodystyle, mine is an 01 with the VQ30DE and I love the hell out of it. 248K and still bangs off the rev limiter with enthusiasm!
I'm so disappointed, my 2002 got totaled in 2020, when I bought it in 2010 it had 53,000 miles, I've had it for 10 yrs, ended with 230,000, loved this car. It was a SE, I put Dale Jr's tires and rims on it, it was the cleanest car in Chattanooga, now I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima FULLY loaded, had it for a year, and it only had 84,000 miles, falling in love with it. But I wish I had my 02 back, I will only by Maxima's...........PERIOD
for any FWD VQ fellow, STOCK DE’s have a torque limit of APPROXIMATELY 400 (give or take) rods are the first to fail because of the torque, torque is what kills the rods as it is rotational force. you can install forged pistons/rods etc but these FWD VQs transmissions have their limitations, there’s way to make 500-900 whp on this engine RELIABLY, but the FWD vq transmissions are a different story. Just a heads up, I’m not 100% at the time of this comment at what power level do these FWD transmissions blow. My educated guess would be 500-600 torque. As we’ve been proven 2+ trans have been broken.
I came from a 2003 Nissan Maxima to a 2010 Nissan Maxima! I love both cars! Wish i still had my 2003 though! It was a sleeper 😇😅! My chick's aunty raced in my 2010 Nissan Maxima -.-t ... fell in love with my car.... yea guess they beat like 10 cars that night. t-.-t ... but anyways damn G I love the build. I wanna bring mine up from stock! I was thinking that too.... cams and pistons upgrade first and air intake. Than go turbo later! But yea gotta love them sleeper cars Eee!
Hey what's up MK I got a question on your Maxima as far as the thermostat do you run a lower temperature thermostat on your car I know I have turbocharged Nissan Maxima but it's the 3.0 engine and I was just curious if a lower temp thermostat is beneficial thank you
VQ heads are some of the best flowing heads of any production engine. Escpecially the HR models in the Z's. No suprise to me your making that power on stock heads.
+mk media I have a 06 Altima 3.5 5spd manual and that setup seems the closest to what my car can possibly take any suggestions? Obviously the battery had to be relocated to the trunk cause I don’t see it under the hood with that vq also what MM TUrbo is it?? Thanks
Awesome ride bro I have a 01 Max burgandy wine paint job...quick question bro what kind of rims are those and what kind of back window spoiler is that. Thanks bro 4 DOOR SPRTS CAR!
civicpride1986 As a fan of honda and nissan I'm going to have to disagree with you on that.Although depending on the swap in the Honda if a K series it just might be a good run if the civic can catch traction (which will be a problem for both cars being that they a FWD) quick enough and pull. But still would like to see that FWD battle.
Erick Foster not necessarily a K series any B swap nicely modded will make that.. i have a 504whp eg hatch that i am sure will give that maxima a run for its money and my car is not even vtec..
And no its not just the k series cuz there already out the single cam 1.6 Hondas out there with big turbos pushing 700 to the wheels were talking about a car that maybe weights around 2000 pounds and that maxima weights maybe 3600 so it's ovious a lighter car with the same power will run faster
I have an 02 black Maxima and love the car. My dad had an 89 gxe originally then a 97 SE and thats what made me fall in love with the Maxs! Awesome to see people who know their true potential. What front/rear lip and side skirts did you use? I like the JDM look and absolutely hate bodykits so I dont want my car looking like something from fast n furious
Just got my 3.5 today so my journey is now beginning I plan on getting to the point of this beautiful 700 horse definitely an inspiration my guy any advice? And where did you install the battery?
I like what you did with the engine. Are you going to upgrade the brakes to match the performance? Fastbrake makes a few big brake kits featuring Wilwood four or six piston front calipers and larger rotors for the rear.
