As a 5-year old kid with a burning hatred for cars and an undying love for all things aviation, my dream car was an Impreza with comically large wings and that iconic “555” livery. That was literally the last time I had any passion for cars until I left college, when I stumbled upon a 1st generation Celica. It was literally love in first sight. As an adult the 1st generation Celica remains my dream car to this day. I know Toyotas are known for their reliability and safe power gains, but goddamnit the Celica and the 2000GT are living proof that they also could produce something gorgeous. Attainable or not, they remain a dream for somebody else. We can all relate to having Toyotas as a workhorse for the family. Here especially in Southeast Asia it’s even a status symbol for the entire household. Thanks for sharing how much a dream car means to a car enthusiast.

I think what you need is an early 80s Toyota Celica Supra. I have one with a NA 7MGE. It's like driving a refined version of the late 70s Datsun 280zx. Hand on heart, it's my dream car. And owning one after searching for 15 years is as good as I always imagined. But nothing rusts where I live. And it took me an year to build it. I don't regret it and I'll never sell it. Cool looks and sounds great. Feels more raw than a GT86.

Your story, reminds me so much of how I got into cars. It stems from the reliability of a facelift 8th Gen Corolla that my family had and the adrenaline rush that I would get when my dad would do rolling burnouts in his Ram 2500, that and playing NFS Underground as a kid. I’ve always been around cars. Whether it was a Datsun 510, Chevy Nova, SVT Cobra, SRT4 or MR2. So when it came time to search for a car, I wanted something fun. AE86 or 240sx ofcourse two cars that get beaten to a pulp. So I kept looking and came across my current passion the Lexus SC300. It ticked all the boxes for me. Toyota, RWD, and a Straight Six. The fact that the A80 Supra was based on the SC/Soarer Z30 and parts where interchangeable was just icing on the cake. I will say after owning an SC and finally getting to seat and experience an A80 Supra, it definitely was a never meet your heroes type of thing for me. It’s like I finally understood why the A80 sold as poorly as it did, here in the US. Now don’t get me wrong I still like the A80 but it changed my view between both cars. It made me appreciate my SC more. You will inevitably be back behind the wheel of the A80/Z30 chassis, there’s just something about it that draws people back in after selling it. You’re brother is a prime example with buying and selling his Supra’s. Next time consider getting an SC/Soarer you might like the change of pace and the familiarity that comes pretty much the same chassis as the A80 with some slight differences. As for favorite cars, I still want to own a AE86 at some point and maybe a LC500. I can’t wait for the Celica Fastback content as I love those old Celica’s.

When I was in high school I always wanted a Dodge Challenger. I eventually got one after graduating college. It was amazing for the first year, then when I saw other challenger owners with v8’s, I got dissatisfied with my v6. After the lease was up I upgraded to a v8 with a shaker hood, then next year the demon came out. Couldn’t afford it, but it made me look at my Challenger differently again. But I can relate to what you’re going through, I think it’s human nature 100 percent. Reality is never as sweet as the dream.

I've always wanted an NSX-R between 1992-1995. The car is performance and stability combined with engineering technology and some other specialties that really speaks to me. The car is, in itself, a car designed to destroy. However, if I lose interest in it, I will keep it anyways. Not because it's rare or expensive, but because it has story. Soichiro Honda and a few other whack heads wanted to build a race car, and with the years of learning, determination and love, they assembled a race car. The NSX Type-R is the good ending to a story, not just a race car.

That '93 Supra was the best automotive related thing that ever happened in that decade. One of 3 most iconic cars of all time.

I think a MR2 would be a good choice if you ever decide to get something different, in my opinion its been one of the most fun experiences driving i've had recently. Personally I think its one of the best japanese sports cars in terms of driving experience and overall fun.

As a Gen-Xr, who grew up in both NYC and Buenos Aires, the grail car is a 1978 Argentine Torino TSX Coupé. A really good one is about $16K to $25K. Costs about $5K to ship and the magic of it is that it is a Pininfarina re-designed Rambler American. Boatloads of parts up here and damn! Does it look amazing.

I think one big thing with this is that nowadays people is obsessed with numbers, al RU-vid channels feed that trend (not all of them, but most) and is not about how quick a car is, is about how it makes you feel when you drive it, same applies for motorbikes, customs are kind of slow, but really cool to ride.

Cars really feel alive. They breathe, they pump fluids through their bodies, they send electrical signals to operate parts of themselves, just like us. You said it, they really do have these personalities all unique from one another even when it's the same make and model their environment changes them. I own a 2002 z71 Tahoe that has been in my family since it was new, I grew up in it and now I'm rebuilding it and that has made it my favorite car in the entire world. It's not my dream car, but it is definitely the most important car to me. You made some really good points and that is a car should resonate with your soul. Then you know you have the right one - or two or three!

I'm pretty happy with the Yellow 97 NSX I bought way back then. It ticks all the boxes for me sure it could use more power and I did add 30 hp. But as you said to much is a curse. I can't take it anywhere it doesn't turn heads and thats fun. But the best thing about it is when I get in it and drive. It's a time machine all of a sudden I'm 25 years younger maybe more. Cars are great.

Your lust for the Celica liftback reminds me of my lust for the E30. In highschool it was all E30, E36, and E46 M3’s, and I’m finally at that point where I have an E30 and an E46 M in the garage. They aren’t perfect or as modified as I want them to be, but they’re there and both special to me. I count those two as my attainable dream cars, though as mentioned, there’s always room for more.

The first time I saw this video title, I was upset that you mocked me if I couldn't afford my dream car. After reading the comments for a bit and watching the video, your story made me want to pursue it even more lol. Anyway, here's my story. TLDR: I Watched an MCM video that made me fall in love with Cressida. As a young boy, I was never attached to or fond of the car scene.Even when my dad bought his first car, i just couldn't feel it. Yeah, it's a car and it sits in our garage. Fast forward to 2 years ago, i stumbled upon Initial D. My friends and others said it's good, and i watched it. And oh boy, it was freaking good. It introduces me to great JDM cars like AE86, the Silvia's, RX7 especially the FC, the EVO gang that beat AE86, god foot R34, Shinigami R32, and Bunta's GC8 WRX coupe. It also introduced me to a bit of rally scene. I found EVO and WRX are cool as heck, so i tried to search it on local marketplace. It's expensive as hell, even the converted Lancer were priced nearly the same as the original. Haven't really thought about it anymore, but still looking for one and thinking that I maybe bought the Lancer or Galant and convert it myself. One night my friend and I chat about our favorite cars. After that, i watched youtube as usual, and then i found one video that changed my life. Mighty Car Mods 10s Cresta. I never watched video like that before, prob one of the best youtube video i've ever watch and it made me fell into car rabbit hole. Their production quality, the soundtracks, and their story to bring Cresta from JP to AUS and modified it to the max and Brought it to the drag strip. I've never felt such joy watching a RU-vid video, and it convinced me that this car (well, the x70 Cressida because its sister car was never sold in my country) is the only car I want right now. It's cheap now, looks cool, comfy, RWD, and large engine bay that can fit V8 there. Never saw it in my area before, so i had an "Is that a Supra" moment when i saw it a few week ago. Well at current situation I honestly dont know i could afford one. But if i had one, I will swap it's 1GE engine with 1UZ VVTi w/ manual trans on it and mod it to look like the Chaser pic i found on the internet. Maybe in a few years i will grow bored of it and repeat the cycle again.

Boredom comes and boredom goes, but I never get tired a driving a well balanced car, no matter how long I've owned it. Haha my story is the same man, I grew up wrenching on a 1960 Chevy C10 I learned stick on a 1987 jeep CJ7, my brother bought a 1964 Lincoln continental and I took it to my high school car show, heck my first car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee until I saved up and gave the jeep to my little sister. And when I was car shopping I was looking for a 1968 firebird, but the only ones I could afford were rust bucket shells or clapped out parts cars so I gave up. And eventually my first actual car I bought was a 2012 Subaru Wrx hatchback. And I still love this car even though I blew the engine, I got it yesterday from yimi sport tuning rebuilt with a STI type ra short block. I love this car it’s still my dream car I’m part of a bunch of Subaru groups and I’ve made so many friends with 08-14 hatchbacks. And now… I want to get a clapped out Toyota Cressida to wrench on now that I’m older and know kind of what I’m doing. Who knows maybe one day I’ll own a 1968 fire bird but who knows I’m (:

I have 2 dream cars. A Subaru Brumby (the Australian classification for the Brat), and the MK1 Golf. The Golf is not very attainable as they are now selling for a ton of money in good condition, but the tiny little 4x4 ute known as the Brumby is mostly cheap and pretty reliable, the only issue is finding one for sale that isn't rusted out and is in my price range

i got my first car less than a month ago, a gen 5 Celica. I've been looking at cars to buy for the past 3 years. Celica were always drawing my attention, a very handsome line up through the years. I've always had my eye on the gen 5. 2 years ago i decided to put away some money to buy my first car, looking around up until last year, i find a mint condition, 100% working gen 5 Celica. a day before i manage to get a ride to check it out, lock down happens. a year had gone past, lock down ended, and i was back in the hunt. i find the same exact car, waiting for me. i pull up on this old master miyage looking dude, and he puts down a blue tarp... and there are was, Celi, waiting for me in all her 90's glory. that moment when i check the interior, i say "yep, driving away on this" since then she gives me a huge smile that i cannot contain and give her as much love as i can, fixing some old diy jobs, changing fitment. i doubt I'll be done with her anytime soon

I am in that same situation I had a 02 Focus SVT That I loved to death. The problem was I got a new job for a big jump in pay but had a long commute that was putting a lot of milage on the SVT so I sold it to the car dealer for cash to put down on a 2014 Focus ST. Had that for a little over 6 months and ended up back at the dealership "just looking at" a Brand new 2017 Fiesta St that I ended up buying that day. the Wife took the Focus ST and we kept the 03 Focus ZX3 she was driving that had just over 100K miles on it. She drove My Fiesta ST a few times over through year and liked it and the Focus St had over 80K miles on it now because of the long commutes we both had. Then it happed the Orange Fiesta ST arrived on the same dealership when My car was in for scheduled maintenance. So the Focus ST was traded in for the new 2018 Fiesta ST in Molten Orange. The Problem is I'm still looking for the Old Focus SVT every week and have test driven several but have yet to find the ONE I must have again. I was very interested the Yaris GR but can't get it in the US. So Now I have to wait for the Corolla GR to hit the dealerships and see what it's going to cost and if I can afford it. I hope it's the Cure for the SVT bug I have to this day!

Personally, I'm going for an Integra as my first car, as long as its a 2 door. They're cheap and I'm willing to spare no expense to make the Integra my own. If I had to choose a different car later in life, I'd go for one of my realistic choices of dream car, the one I'm going for rn, a 300zx (z31 or z32), S2000, or a E36, but I feel like thats a bit too far in price. If there were no limitations, I'd probably buy an R33.

I got mine. It's an 86. Sure there are other cars that can out perform it, but none can replace this one. I wanted it bad enough, and then I got it. I never thought of it as a performance thing really.

I totally get what you mean man. Funny enough, the car that ‘satisfied’ me the most was actually a base 2014 Honda Civic Sedan 9th Gen in grey. Why? Because I could always count on it. I love my SBY Miata but truth be told I have never been in love with it due to the fact that it’s left me stranded a couple of times. Yes, I have since fixed the issue but that feeling of buyers remorse still lingers. I’m looking at getting a GR86 due to owning an AE86 before & wanting the last generation 86/BRZ. It won’t cure the ‘itch’ most car enthusiasts have but we have to accept that it’s human nature to want new things or change in life!… it’s just more expensive for us car guys is all 😂 but in all seriousness despite wanting & ultimately going forward with the GR86 I can’t help but to feel that Honda has & always will be the right choice for me :)

I really like this video. I’ve been on that chase for better and cooler for a while. Currently I have an R35 GTR at 20 years of age and people constantly tell me I drive their dream car but for me it’s just another car. Sometimes I realize that I’m in something super special but most of the time it’s just a boring drive no matter how fast it is, you just get used to it and it becomes extremely ordinary after a while of owning a certain car. I’ve skipped on many cars that were a big want since I got my license and got the gtr instead, this video made me rethink my choice. Just like you I’m a huge Toyota fan, before the gtr I only had 1 240sx and at least 15 different Toyota/Lexus cars. Maybe I’ll go to the old ISF that I wanted so much since I was 15, or I’ll go to an LC500 that always was the I made it car in my head. But just like yourself, the only dream car I’ve ever had was an LFA. Maybe someday in the future I’ll figure that out also. Appreciate the video and perspective!

I've owned lots of cars myself All gens of Zs from Datsun 240z all the way to 370z, c5-c7 corvettes, all generations of miatas, s2k, evo 8, 13 STI....and more. Currently in a MK5 Supra. You are spot on! Every car has it's own personality...every car gives you a different take of the driving experience. I've always felt there is no such thing as a dream car....it's as mystic as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbows.

Love you videos! So well done. I also have had a stupid amount of everything that includes the AE86 GTS, several Supra’s and several Z cars. Currently my toy is a Z32 which IMO is better looking than the MK4 and handles better when set up properly. I don’t get your love for the A90 as IMO it was a slap in the face to any Supra purist. I will be buying a new Z when they come out and I plan on keeping my current Z32.

I was supposed to get an old red 50's pickup truck from my dad for my first car but my parents got divorced and my mom sold it. Ever since I have been obsessed with red trucks, specifically Fords. Had the 03 F150 and now the 2012 F150, as long as I got a red truck I will be happy 😂

Had a S4 Turbo RX7 as my first car when they were dirt cheap. Always had dream that one day I can get an FD…but now they are super expensive and the experience with Turbo Rotary weren’t so great. Then I sold the RX-7 for a brand spanking new ND MX-5. Didn’t feel the same because once you go Rotary, you can never go back. Sold that only after 2 years. Now I got a S4 NA instead while they are still affordable and actually reliable. When Mazda release the new RX-9 with I6, that would be the dream car. Otherwise I am keeping the RX-7 forever.

I've noticed that switching car's and not knowing what car you really want to own that will make you happy is the worst decision you can make. Because you waste so much money and time just to build and keep on building the car you have that you really didn't want. Have a car that will get you to point a to point b and see how you like that car then get your dream car that you actually want. A car that will put a smile on your face everyday then a car that will put a frown on your face.

I can relate to the "owning a modified high powered car" like your first supra. I have a fully built turbo is300 and its always one thing or another needs to be fixed, or what will the weather like? Ive owned it 11 years and most of the time owning it was working it or fixing or changing something...its been drivable maybe 25% of my ownership and knowing that makes it miserable to drive. Worrying what'll break next or what will be an issue now makes me not enjoy it like i use to. Race cars arent what you think they are until you actually have a race car🤙

I'm so grateful for learning car control and basic modding in this car, but I think the itch has been scratched. Looking for more comfort, power, and practicality. Almost bought a Giulia Veloce 18 months ago. Might pull the trigger now that they're used.

Idk I guess I'll see if this is true. It may just be different on an individual basis. My dream is an ae86, but I'm not gonna pay 35k for an 80s corolla that's been, more than likely, abused in its life. I just can't justify spending that much on one. So the first proper car I plan to get after a daily is an NA mx5, and because of how underpowered they are I suspect there is a possibility I may get bored and move onto an MR2 but after that? I'm not sure. Though if I end up loving the character and handling of the mx5 so much, building it may be an option too.

I my dream car was a Porsche Panamera Turbo S. Awd, v8 twin turbo, over 500hp, black with 22” wheels, carbon brakes, refined. It was so fast and beautiful and I could take my family in it. After 4 years with it, I knew something expensive was going to break on it, maybe the $18k PCCB rotors! It was stressful thinking about something breaking. So I sold it, and I have been with no car for a while now. You save a lot of money not owning a car :).

I love cars but I don't want to own expensive, fancy, fast etc. I tried it once and as much as I loved driving that car it was thirsty, something always needed fixing, always something. I'm much happier driving a cheap to run sh.tbox, everything is fixed on it, runs fine and is good with fuel. As for dream cars I'll happily stick to racing them in racing games. I get all the fun of customising them and abusing them on the track without the headaches and being constantly broke.

It’s funny bc I’m sorta in a predicament as well. See I have 2 cars. One as a daily and the other is a project car, sorta. I have a Toyota Highlander that used to be stock but now it’s modified in N/A form, it’s actually fun to drive that thing now especially since no one even tries or even know how to modify it in the first and I just love how it catches people off guard when they see that highlander actually pulling. The other is a Lexus is300. I was gonna put a turbo on it but unfortunately I’ve came to the conclusion that it’s gonna blow regardless if I put it on safe boost. Now the only way I can enjoy that car is if it built completely and unfortunately I don’t have the time for it bc of my work schedule but I told my self that it’s ok since I’m gonna end up selling it to get the dream car that I want. Unfortunately I’ve decided to keep it the car bc of the fact that this pandemic has taught a lot of people to save for emergencies and not to spend on stupid things. Don’t get me wrong I’m still gonna modify it, I’m just not putting the turbo. I’m planning to go N/A form on it and get maybe 260-270 depending on the mods I put on, now Ik for some 260-270 hp ain’t a lot but considering the fact that it’s a light car to begin with and tbh hp isn’t always everything.

Once upon a time I had an STI, which was an absolute riot to drive but totally miserable to be in as it seemed as though the suspension and seats were designed in harmony to maximum discomfort. But, it mostly sat, only being driven when I looked at it and thought “fuck yeah I’d like do some power-slides today” with my daily car being a beat up Hyundai Tiburon I bought from a friend for pennies. Well, one day the Tiburon got hit and totaled, leaving me with only the STI. I was too lazy to go buy another beater and the STI made me miserable to the point that I just couldn’t stand it anymore. So I got rid of it.
