As an e KLM 747 pilot, this brings back lots of nostalgia! Well done, great report on my fantastic employer KLM. Great showcasing our national pride, our bluebird! Well done!! Flip.
My friend worked for years at KLM NY. He gifted me a starter set of those little Dutch houses which I’m adding to. Except for the privacy issues, BC seemed nice. Thanks for posting👍
Love the sound of the GE90 engine start up. It's even louder in economy class behind the wing all the way to the very rear end of the plane near the last 4th door behind.
I am going thru Schipol to Johannesburg in May and this made me excited for my layover! I wish I had more time there. Can't wait to see the clock too...I had no idea that existed!
Thanks for the upload, your experience was similar to mine. Used KLM business for the first time in 2022 on my regular long haul. Good experience, service comfort and food all excellent if not in the top range. On my return journey I was assigned an A.F. Flight which was even better with a 1-2-l layout which naturally ~I preferred. This year my flight will be A.F. both ways.
So truly epic -- love this video! KLM was the first international airline I ever flew when I was around 14 or so between LAX and AMS, and it's truly my no. 1 favourite always. I've yet to experience the flagship lounge in AMS, or it's newer business class product, but this was a super, super cool video -- can we talk about the onboard coffee stirrers?! Obsessed. Cheers!
22:17, Almost 7 months later on July 17 2023, I flew KLM for the 1st time, this time from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Manila, Philippines, this time on the 5th freedom flight, this time on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and the KLM safety video is the same. This time, my KLM flight or my 5th freedom KLM flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Manila, Philippines, departed on time, which is good. The flight was 3 and a half hours and it's okay.
Just came back to JFK from Budapest (transfer) via this airport. What I didn't like was 1:Flight left gate E24 & I was at E2. 2:Flight delayed due to plane switch 3 hrs prior 3: No bathroom/coffee station gate E17-24
AIr Sickness Bag sounds a little less crude than Barf Bag. LOL! ;-) I've flown KLM Business Class a few times and out of Chicago O'Hare back then, they only used the 747-Combi and boy did I love the upper deck! DId you try Genever? I got to really enjoy drinking Genever (with tonic) which I was told was the predecessor to Gin. When the Brits made Gin they were short three ingredients which is why the much different flavor. Genever has a more grainy taste which I like. (At least this is all what I was told by BOLS). I also found it interesting that every time I asked for a Bailey's after dinner, they said they didn't have that and gave me something similar which eventually I found out was Amarula, also a cream liqueur made in South Africa which makes total sense why KLM serves that versus Bailey's. Oh, and at least one of those Delft Blue souvenir houses is based on an actual building in Curaçao, otherwise they're all based on buildings in the Netherlands. (And one of the Anne Frank House, which I am lucky enough to own).
I'll have to try some of that stuff, I haven't had any of it yet. I do miss those Combis. KLM and Alaska Airlines were some of the biggest users of those legends of aviation!
Great video, lots of detail and all very clear and informative, thank you. 😊 We're due to fly business class with KLM early 2023 and we can't decide between row 1 and row 6. Both apparently have the larger leg rest (compared to row 2 to 5). What do you think we should do? 😂
I’m usually fan of row 1, but in this case, row 6 was a total win! The only bummer is during boarding you get a bunch of people walking past you, but one you’re in the air, it feels super private
@@PatrickSheaAviation Not 100% sure, but the story I heard is that in the 50-ties some ICAO rule made it impossible for airlines to hand out gifts to passengers. By providing a drink KLM got around that...the house was just the packaging :-)
@@Jetstream015 In 1952 or thereabout, IATA forbade airlines to present gifts costing more than 75c (US$?) to their passengers. KLM got around this by offering its 1st class passengers a glass of liquour after a long journey and the package was a miniature house (the real gift). IATA took the KLM to court but it ruled that nothing had been mentioned about the packaging, a rule in favor of KLM. Btw: each year on October 7, the day KLM was founded in 1919, a new model is introduced. Source: Welcome aboard, a centurty of KLM.
Great review. How much alcohol is in the houses given out? Looks like it would be a problem if you are transiting. I guess you can ask for one without alcohol.
I'm not sure exactly how much is in it, but seems like less than 100mL. I also transited with it and it didn't get pulled. So hopefully it's all good! Thanks!
Lol 😂 I unfortunately (or fortunately) don’t have a sim slot on my phone, so it’s all done through satellites and black magic. Glad you liked the video!
You can just search the route on delta’s site. It doesn’t seem to work on *every* route, but for this one, I just went to delta’s website and searched AMS-DXB and this flight appeared
I was wondering if you know if the business class seats on this older KLM business class have a 3.5mm jack for using my own Bose headphones with a wireless 3.5mm Bluetooth adapter?
While I do think the 2 seat setup is undesirable, I think they do it better than the others with the same setup. I also thought their meal was great, but that’s just all my opinion. I am curious what airline you think sets a good standard?
@@PatrickSheaAviation I like AIRFRANCE,SWISS,AUSTRIAN, British if its new cabin business class then SINGAPORE,EMIRATES,ETIHAD,QATAR and also Korean,Asiana, still havent tried ITA AIRWAYS but I really want to and I hate LUFTHANSA BECAUSE they fuccked all airlines in the group before swiss and Austrian they were fantastic but now they are following low cost LH unfortunately Europeans carriers they lost their dignity
@@robertgonzales3936 good group of airlines. I haven’t flown the majority of those. I do also share your opinion on Lufthansa. I am excited to see if their new cabin update will fix some of the problems
@@PatrickSheaAviation i will take another 10 years for them to have 1-2-1 cabin for their business class passengers now they use ex Philippines airlines cabin lol even Philippines has better cabin I dont waste my money with LH anymore its not worth it
I actually didn’t eat the food in this lounge because I was short on time, so I don’t want to give wrong information, but I haven’t found a lounge that requires you to pay for the food
I really don't get you people :-) For the price of one business class ticket, I can fly twice in economy! I may, at some time in the future, upgrade, when I've earned enough points on Delta Sky miles or KLM flying blue 🙂
Oh believe me I know. I hadn’t even tried business classes until a little under a year ago. Saving up miles to upgrade from time to time has become a fun little side hustle for me now though!
It does seem like their newest product, on the 787s is an improvement so I'll have to check that out at some point. KLM also has some of the best point redemption values of SkyTeam business classes as well, so that helps
I hate the KLM Lounge in Amsterdam! It's definatly one of the worst! It's always crowded and they only offer little amounts of food and drinks. Otherwise, nice and really interesting review. But please speak a little bit slower and more clear. Your American accent makes it quite exhausting to listen all the 39 minutes. 👍🏼
In principle: a great video...could have been. But gosh, you seem to be such a fan boy of KLM..you praise them much more than they deserve and this review is totally uncritical. KLM has great crews, but the rest is meeh. Food in the lounge? Way below par..very poor. The cabin? 2-2-2? No real criticism from you for this totally inacceptable cabin? The wines? As usual in the 8 Euro super market range..these are eco drinks!!. Horrible stuff for someone who loves wines..even more above the clouds , where EK or QR deliver. The food? presentation looked ugly like on all my KLM flights..and at least for me also the taste wasnt good. Great video in terms of images comprehensiveness, systematicness..but your commentary does not reflect at all in a balanced way the real expereince IMHO..but it seems thats the way you like it.
I hear ya. I do think that as far as 2-2-2 business classes go, it’s the best one I’ve been a part of even if the seat is a bit awkward (so maybe “best of the worst” is more fitting). First time on a new airline is always exciting so I’ll say some of the extra praise comes from that combined with the fact that until this year, I struggled to be able to travel much at all (let alone a premium cabin) and so as I become more fortunate to travel more and more I’m sure that comparisons and “scope of reference” will improve. Thanks for the feedback
So difficult to listen to a narrator that disrespects his audience, by mispronounced terms such as KLM. What does Kaylim even mean? Articulate. Pronunciate. You'r adult enough for that.
