One of my starter villagers was a very ugly horse called Buck, and I hated him in the beginning because he’s obviously ugly and a jock who only talks about muscles… but he eventually started visiting me, giving me lots of presents, waving at me, etc. I ended up growing attached to him and he’s still living on my island :,)

Naturally, my exquisite appearance might be too sophisticated for your taste. It's alright, not everyone can comprehend such a level of refinement, natch.

Hippuex gave me a grand piano almost immediately after moving in, so he got to stay.

Does anyone remember when this game was about actually creating friendships with these villagers? You’d learn to love even the “ugly” ones because interacting with them was so unique?

I have Hippeux cuz everyone hates him and he was so nice to me and shy when I met him.

One of my starter villagers was Tammy, Tammy was okay at first a little sassy but still decent. One day I got a letter from her in the mail, it said “i was out shopping today and i saw this and thought of you” I was very excited that she had sent me a gift. When I opened it it was a trash bin, I brushed it off but this wasn’t the first time. After two weeks I get another letter saying the same thing from her this time it’s a toilet. It took me 4 years to kick her off my island.

The absolute worst are Al and Buck. For some reason they always seem to end up auto filled on my island.. they taunt me on purpose I’m sure of it! 🤮

The moment I got Rodney on my island I wrinkled my nose in disgust, couldn't get him off for a while so by the time he asked to leave I'd grown so attached I couldn't let him go 🥴

The worst part is that to complete the initial Narrative of New Horizons, you have to have an Ugly Villager. That means the one you get from your first Campsite Visitor is guaranteed to be disgusting looking and won't ever think of leaving until you have K.K over for the first time

I remember when Hippeau was my first campsite villager ... I left him there for 3 days before I realized I HAD to take him. The game did me so dirty!

The hippo is my all-time favorite. I'm dedicating a whole room to him. I am buying poster after poster so I can plaster his face all around the room. The only thing in that room will be his best friend picture he gives me. And if I can make a rug of his face or rug would be in there too!

Dude...Moose was my starter jock and he was low-key ok. 😂 I hated his design, but I pushed past that and got to know him. Miss his weird eyebrows sometimes. 😆 Sheri was my starter sisterly villager and my friend said she was the word because she looked like a terrifying demon monkey and that made me very upset. My other friend adopted her. Moose was lost to the ether. Rip Moose. 😂😢🎉

A fun thing for Hippeux. In french a world to say disgusting/having a repulsive appearance is hiddeux. And he is an hippo so it means the hiddeux hippo is hippeux and I find it funny (but mean for the poor Hippeux)

Rodney is really sweet lol. I have him on my island, and my friend had even hated him beforehand too, but after meeting him on my island she grew to like him too. :) I do, however, completely respect your opinion! :)

Animal Crossing was never about collecting the cutest villagers, it bugs me so much that New Horizons makes it easy to get what you want, everyone throws the 'ugly' ones away.

I don't know whether to be sad about how these characters have been defined (who literally have the same personality as the most loved and idolized villagers) or whether to be fascinated and happy that Chops is not, for once, among the first characters listed. (He's one of my favourites)
