You unfortunately never really think about the fact that lifeguards have to sit, holding dead bodies for long periods of time in wait and then having that image stuck in their head. I can't imagine how traumatic that must be, and the fact that they can go right back to saving more lives just shows how much they put into their jobs. MAD respect for not only Bondi lifeguards but lifeguards all across the world, thank you guys for doing your all to keep people safe, and condolences to the families who have lost anyone in the water

@@BondiRescue Truly, it took up to the fitness video of them recording their vitals and what not before I realized just how much a lifeguard has to do! Having an experienced lifeguard, with an inexperienced is the best thing... these sad drownings take a toll on the lifeguards, but fate was out of their hands... Retrieving the deceased patient gives closure to families and that is a wonderful thing that they do... so hard on them.... Theyre a great bunch of people, and support each other, yet debriefings are very important...it gives them a chance to vent, relive the moments and assert that not everyone can be saved... They rescue in phenominal conditions, against tides, rips and rocks, superhuman, but well trained... Bondi lifeguards... are totally amazing, every rescue is a blessing... usually with the best of outcomes... 💞✌🙏

These guys know how to handle these kinds of incidents. It would be very confronting for a trainee seeing this for the first time. As a nurse, I'll never forget my first dead body, there is nothing nice about many of them. I was young & luckily a great senior nurse at the time talked me through everything. With me, it was very unexpected & not at all nice to be part of it. You have so many things going through your mind. The lifeguards would go through the same thing. A debrief is also very important. They too are first responders in times like this. Good job to all.

I have so much respect and appreciation for these and all lifeguards who are far underrated and underappreciated. For all that these men and women have to hear, see and endure, most people will never experience these things even once in their lives. I also want to extend my appreciation & acknowledgement for the Bondi Rescue film crew. These men and women have to witness the same horrific scenes and terrifying incidents as the lifeguards and I think because they're not the ones in front of the camera, many people don't realize that, they too, take some of these tragedies to heart. Hey sorry for the deadend comment. But that's interesting that Gonzo is the same age as me.... Cos up until i watched this video, i was thinking he was older... Anyways... Hope Gonzo is still ok now days even though this wouldve been filmed somtime ago obviously.
