Spent some more time today finalizing the Yukon part out after the Sentra got towed away! Was planning to work on the 2.5RS, but I took off a few hundred dollars more parts that I think will be worth the time. Now if only I could find the time to list them all on eBay! Lost track of the day working and this upload is super late as a result. Thanks for watching everyone this has been a great month. :)
Oooh that is a good idea. Was debating that myself. I think parts for cars that have a big following are best to sell in groups on FB, or if you live in a city which I don't. If you are willing to wait, eBay will usually get you top dollar.
My dad had a 1957 Ford Fairlane that he left sitting for 50 years. It's rusted away to almost nothing. It's actually still out behind his house, but all that's left is a few pieces of rusted metal sticking out of the ground.
Yeah moisture tends to come out of the ground and settle on the chassis I believe. This car I think was mostly a victim of salt and just really poor corrosion resistance from factory. I forgot to even show the rocker panels. They were completely rotted, had been filled with expanding foam, and had plastic covers put over them with wood screws!
@@802Garage 93' Nissan d21 extended cab (of course) with about 230k on it. I can see all the way through my frame around the front frame bends at the wheelwells...

We’ve been getting that same sorta ice fog here almost every night. Gotta admit that is impressively bad! I have worked on one car I think was worse, it was a ‘70 Cougar convertible that came into a shop I worked at for a full restoration... it had only been off the road 3yrs at the time if I recall but the doors would no longer close because of how rusty it was, it was sagging like a banana! Apparently it was very sentimental to the customer, but really there wasn’t enough solid metal anywhere on the car to weld to and begin patching it, it was literally unrestorable.
Bahaha thanks! Yeah I have helped part out a car before and I have obviously taken a lot of parts off, but I never took a car down to literally nothing. Was fun, but ended up being more time consuming than I expected since I kept the harness in tact and all.
Holy crap you guys deal with some rotted out cars over there! My worst car lived on the coast for it's whole life ( almost 43 years, holy crap ) and is nowhere near this bad!
Yeah I'm happy so much more aluminum is being used in vehicles! Makes life easier. Obviously not in some scenarios like accidents, but overall. You are lucky!
Yep the Pulsar and Bluebird and I believe Avenir all had SR20DET engine options in Japan. In the future if I pop a DE with boost I plan to get a real DET to swap in since it will mount the same. Cost around $1200-1900.
If it wasn't for how much it would cost you would probably be better off supercharging the SR20DE purely for space reasons in the MR2 but after looking it up there doesn't seem to be a way to do it without a custom manifold.
That would be fun! Fortunately I do think there will be plenty of room to turbo, even if I have to get a bit creative, but I'll compress that air when I get to it I suppose. :P

Hahaha, well it's no competition now because off to scrap it goes! You should see the rust pile from working on the 2.5RS. I'm saving it for the finale of the rear end rebuild. You'll be impressed!
Nefarious CJ if you have ever heard of the Disco Potato turbo, it came from aSport Compact Car article about a SR20 Sentra turbo project. It had a custom turbo that had great characteristics, I believe you can still get it.
Yeeep! In the USA we got the SR20 from I believe 1991 until 2002 in the Infiniti G20, and in the Sentra from 1991 to 2001, also in the NX2000. We only got the DE though, not the DET. The differences aren't huge though and they are super easy to turbo, as you'll see if you watch my $500 turbo car series!
😂 I think the Beta was the one most famous for literally falling apart from factory in England! Either way, maybe! I'd rather be a Lancia than most Nissans. 😝
Nah it had a small block Chevy in it and they put TONS of nitrous to it just to have some fun and see if they could blow it, but it actually survived. They swapped in a mildly built LS I believe because she wants to go faster. Plans to turbo it down the road I think. I want to say she is shooting for 7 seconds 1/4 mile with a manual transmission which is insanely ambitious and I highly doubt she will without 1500+ HP which means She'll likely need another engine and a ton more money. We'll see.
Definitely hard. Need to repair what you can and start oil coating everything underneath as well as oil and wax filling inside of doors and body panels.
I'm a bit familiar, know the term from guns mostly. People up here are very fond of Fluid Film. Looks like I can possibly get Cosmoline even cheaper though, now that I look. For a while for budgetary reasons I'll probably stick with used motor oil. ;)
Hey 802 I got a question about my 2006 subaru impreza . It has a swapped ej16 na and is fwd but is overall a really nice car in great condition. I want to know YOUR honest opinion on what i should do to it. I honestly might do an ej20 swap for 1.5k without labor but anytthing else tell me!
Hmmm. It would probably be a bit more expensive, but you could turbo the 1.6L? If the EJ20 headers bolt up, it makes the job fairly easy. Converting it to AWD could also be fun, but pricey unless you find a good parts car cheap. If you went EJ20 would it be the NA or turbo? Turbo you would likely need go do a harness modification or merge or swap, which is a ton of work.
@@802Garage Thanks for the response, well the ej20's come na i believe but ive looked in to turboing and making it awd. I feel like turboing. a high compression 1.6 even on low boost wont make much a difference and is just alot of wasted work unless you can say otherwise. I think putting an ej20, turbocharging it and putting an awd drivetrain would be pricey, maybe 3 grand even or more but your videos really motivated me to do it!
@@802Garage Both! The steel pipes under it are dust piles, that won't just fall out... Foundation, crumbling. Wood, rotted at bottom. Insulation, mice trails and nests. Wiring, chewed. Floors, Patchy the pirate would be proud. So I have a huge list. Repairs are ongoing in all those areas,

Worst car you have ever seen is saying something. That being said, I was all of a sudden sitting with the safety belt buckle in my hand on a brand new piece of sh#t car. A Citrôen Jumpy 2008 model. If my bosses ever adressed that is another story. I don't know why anyone buys those. If you buy a 10 y.o. Toyota hilux it will run perfectly and you'll never have a problem with it. If you buy a new french car you're in a world of hurt and lets face it, with the 10 y.o. Toyota you can sell it again 10 years later for half the prize. you'll lose 80% with a french car.
Hahaha right? I have probably seen some worse and just not known it from the outside. This one didn't look this awful until you got all the parts off. Hadn't heard of those issues with French cars, but we really never got many here. Toyota is a safe bet! I have dealt with my share of rusty Yotas too though!
@@802Garage Yeah, it all depends on the love they get from the dealerships and the owners. But Toyota isn't the worst in the class. Subaru had more rust issues when they came, but of european cars . Mercedes, Opel , Fiat and many others were truly designed to rust. A lack of water drains , places where salt and gravel stacked up. etc
Yeah it can be very strange how certain cars rust out. Subaru usually got most of the car pretty well, but would always miss some key area. Rear quarters in the first gen Impreza, rear strut tower tops in the second gen Legacy, outer interior wheel well panel on the first gen Forester. Definitely improved with time, but it was a shame because people didn't know until it was too late. Rust sucks!
