At least it feels like Friday the 13th movie which Jason goes to hell doesn't I would rather watch Jason X cuz it's more enjoyable and great original kills
I would just like to clarify my "slasher genre peaked in the early 2000's" comment. I was a little sloppy with my phrasing. I know the '80s run of slasher movies left the most cultural impact but with my comment I was speaking more to the commercial aspect of the post-Scream slasher run. These films had bigger budgets and many of them made well over 100 million at the box office. A movie like Urban Legend made more money at the box office than any Elm Street or Friday movie. Which is kind of crazy when you think about it. I, of course, prefer my '80s slashers and that golden age run from 1980-1984 but that late 90s/2000s run was pretty nuts. I should have been more clear.
I gotta disagree with Jason X. Jason Takes Manhattan hands down is the worst. I also think Halloween Resurrection gets a bad reputation because of how they treated Laurie and yes Busta Kung Fu Rhymes but no one can deny it's highly entertaining and hilarious. Halloween 5 however there's nothing fun about that film and ruins everything Halloween 4 set up. Now Freddys Dead The Last Nightmare is the only answer for worst Freddy movie. He's turned into a damn caricature of himself and unlike Resurrection it's not entertaining or funny at all. The reboot is not very good but it's still better than Freddys Dead. I used to think Scream 3 was the weakest in the franchise but now I choose Scream 5. I still don't like Roman like those other Scream weirdo fanatics who think he's the greatest Ghostface but Scream 5 just didn't do a whole lot for me and the reveals are awful. Texas Chainsaw and Chucky I 100% agree with. Hopefully you get back to the best horror films of decade years. I like those ones a lot. October's right around the corner so perfect time to go into the 2000s decade.
I always laugh my ass off with seed of chucky. I prefer comedy chucky that doesnt take itself serious, what would you expect from a killer doll? Although i get why some people dislike the film, I just wanna have fun lol
Jason X was a lot of fun. A New Beginning is easily the worst Friday despite its reappraisal (Jason is in JGTH for more minutes of screen time than Parts 2 and 3 combined). Child's Play - Seed Of Chucky A Nightmare On Elm Street - Nightmare 2010 Halloween - Halloween Resurrection Hellraiser - Hellraiser Judgment Scream - Scream 3 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Next Generation Phantasm - RaVager
Great list. Though i'm in the minority that i love Jason X. But i'm not a big Friday the 13th fan, so Jason X (which love for the sci-fi camp) and Freddy vs Jason (which is more a Nightmare movie with Jason guest starring) are the only Jason films i like. Also agree with Halloween Ressurection was awful. I hated that it ruined H20's near perfect ending to the franchise.
Thanks for the video! I am looking forward to the best horror films from the 2000s. I think the only disagreement I have is on the Halloween franchise. I think Zombie's Halloween II is a dumpster fire.
Rob Zombie's Halloween films are the worst of the franchise alongside Halloween 5 (at the top of the worst), 4 and resurrection (which surprisingly isnt even in the top 4). My ranking is: 1978, H20, Kills, Ends, 2018, 2, Curse, Season of the Witch, resurrection, 4, RZ 1, RZ 2, 5 RMM
Worst films from these franchises: Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Next Generation Halloween: Revenge of Michael Myers Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (Tough to choose on this one, since I enjoy all the films in this series) Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Child or the Remake (I have to re-watch this one to make sure) Child's Play: Part 3 (Haven't seen the remake) Scream: Part 3
i agree with seed of chucky. i remember watching bride of chucky as a child. and when you saw the ending you would be like OMG the next movies gonna be even better theres a new killer on its way for sequel. little did we know it was gonna be like a SNL comedy skit type movie. one thing to always avoid in a horror franchise especially iconic horror icons is making there movies into comedy. it never works. and idk why directors about 50 years later still never learned to never make a horror movie into a comedy. it just doesnt work. i bet hardly noone can name a single parody horror movie with comedy in it that actually worked. i can probably name like 10 that didnt work. but not a single one that did work. you would think about 50 years later directors would of figured that out by now that doing that just doesnt work in horror movie. halloween resurrection is another good example on a horror comedy skit as well. just doesnt work
I actually think that the worst Friday is 9... Jason X was tongue in cheek and at least moderately funny with some good kills. I agree with all the others though.
Texas Chainsaw: The Netflix One(The new-new one) I guess. Didn't watch theses. Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy's Dead Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers/Rob Zombies Halloween Tied for the worse, I'm sorry. Chucky: Seed Scream: There is no bad scream film, but Scream 3 is at the bottom overall.
TEXAS CHAINSAW 4 IS FUNNY AS HELL that movie didn't have writers it had hostages that were forced to write random funny stuff around the TEXAS CHAINSAW concepts
I’d argue that Scream 2022 is the weakest in the franchise. I love the newer scream movies but compared to the others I just find the 2022 one to be redundant and a bit too familiar. I also find some elements of the movie to be really irritating and stupid and not in a fun campy scream 3 way as the 2022 one probably has the most serious tone in the franchise.Scream 3 at least tried something new and delivered an absolutely hillarious and entertaining watch. But I do agree there are no bad scream movies and I see your reasoning for having scream 3 at the bottom
Scream 6(imo), is the the weakest of the franchise. I like how comedic Scream 3 is and like the Hollywood setting, and like the Jay and Silent Bob cameo
Unpopular opinion: Friday the 13th Part 5 was shit. Aside from no Jason, the story of Tommy being a lunatic and eventually becoming a killer went absolutely nowhere.
@@stephenvelez9710 When I watched "Texas Chainsaw 3D," I thought Alexandra Daddario was the hottest chick on the planet. Also, the kills were decent. Chronologically, it doesn't make sense, and that "do yer thing, cuz" line is super cringe, but overall, I like the movie.
I'm going with Jason Takes Manhattan. Even the bad movies after that are entertaining. Well, maybe not Jason Goes to Hell. But at least it tried something different.
I disagree. Scream 3 has an undeniable charm, compared to the « new generation » movies. It stood the test of time pretty nicely, compared to Scream 4 even. Halloween (8) has the advantage of not taking itself seriously, compared to the last trilogy. So it’s one I hate alongside 5, for screwing up H20 flawless ending. But worse movies have been made even since… I don’t like the other franchises. Both Nightmares and Fridays franchises only had two truly good movies. The original and Wes Craven’s new nightmare, for Freddy. Part. 1 and the remake, for Jason. Freddy vs Jason is fun too. As far as Chucky is concerned, I only like the original movie and Bride of Chucky. Even the remake has interesting ideas. I hate the TV series with a passion, due to the annoying tween characters. And TCM, only has the remake and 2006 prequel worth watching.
I love your critique of The Nightmare remake. And I am seeing a very bizarre trend of bashing the sequels and their dreamy visuals (which really defined the franchise and made it peak horror in the 80s, Nightmare 4 is the highest grossing slasher of the 80s and massively underrated) now preferring a gritty Freddy, these people don’t understand Freddy and their opinions are really damaging the franchise’s reputation and now this franchise is so overlooked and almost forgotten while other franchises blossom, so very sad. The Nightmare franchise before the Remake is arguably one of the more consistent franchises with each film despite various qualities all have something to offer (besides Freddy’s Dead it is debatable but it gives the whole backstory of Freddy). The Remake embodies everything Freddy shouldn’t be and you called it out perfectly.
I both agree and disagree with your comment. It all made so much sense until the end. I can't wrap my head around the very last statement. "The remake embodies everything Freddy shouldn't be"? Why is that that? I totally disagree. Don't get me wrong, the movie itself is horseshit, but Jackie Earl Haley's Freddy's was a welcome change for me. I liked that he was nasty and not a comedian. I also like the makeup. I alway thought old school Freddy's makeup looked more like pizza toppings than burns. I didn't like the CGI aspect though. That's just nonsense...I love Nightmare 4, it's my favorite sequel, but it's also kinda ruined Freddy a little bit for me. Well, part 3 started it and part 4 finished the job. I can understand making the villain more of an anti-hero of sorts, but that can only apply to certain villains. Chucky is pure gold in that department. He's sadistically hilarious. Jason is the main character of his franchise. Nobody cares about the rest of the characters other than how brutally they're gonna die. Ghostface has that meta quality we a relate to. I could go on for years about Michael Myers and Leatherface, so I won't open that can of worms. Freddy though. Freddy should be THE villain. Ever since I a little kid, I've always hated that they made Freddy so likable in the sequels. Think about it. He's a child murderer whom more likely than not, was also a pedophile. If a character like that can't be presented as being scary, what's the point in horror at all? I think Freddy should be the darkest, most evil character possible. A real bastard that the audience wants to see go down. Nothing redeemable at all. If he's gonna crack jokes, they should make us uncomfortable, not make us laugh. I think the Slasher genre as a whole has always been in need of a little more terror.
Here's my list of worst movie in each franchise. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022. Halloween: Resurrection. Freddy vs Jason for both franchises. Fuck that movie. Bride of Chucky is bad. Seed of Chucky is worse. Scream 3.
Idk I’d rather watch Alexandra Daddario do anything include portraying a 40+ year old that hates reading notes, than robot legged McConaughey. Probably rather do Resurrection than Ends as well. I don’t think time is going to help the “Christine remake with sewer Myers”
FREDDY vs JASON 2003 SUCKS we were promised for decades a WWF vs ECW EXTREME RULES LAST MAN ALIVE fight to the death we ended up getting a WWE family friendly match that ended in a draw
