A decent number of the chefs on this show are capable and/or hardworking but totally hamstrung by the owner or manager.

The first two chefs were probably some of the most honest on the show.

The first one is The Waterfront, on Lake St. Clair, in Michigan....🌲🌲🌲... Gordon went there, and totally turned it around!!!!!! The Grand opening was a blizzard, car's were lined up for 2 miles!!!!! It was a great outcome.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️.......

Heh, I thought the same thing but honestly if the guy legitimately is deathly allergic to crab/shrimp/shellfish like he says he is then he really can't take any risks. Imitation crab meat is generally prepared in facilities which handle a variety of seafood products so the probability of cross contamination is quite high.

Not all chefs he meets are idiots, some of them are just being forced to cook subpar junk. It's surprising how often the managers or owners are to blame for the vast majority of issues. It legitimately warms my heart to see a Chef willing to improve xD

Usually, when you have a shellfish allergy you tend to stay away from anything "seafood" (i am alergic to both) so I understand where he is coming from

That's why it's Krab and not Crab, because he's allergic. I get that. But you shouldn't be running a seafood restaurant, ON THE BEACH, if you're allergic. Go be a plumber, or an electrician or something where you're useful lol.....

I mean technically she is right there are some varieties of potatoes that aren’t suitable for frying, it has to do with the amount of starch in them (high starch or frying, low starch or boiling) it could be a case where the owner just buys whatever is cheapest that week. A lot of Surimi (fake crab) uses some crab extract in it to make it taste like crab and it still uses fish like pollock in it which depending on where it is processed could mean potential cross contamination. That's not to excuse his behavior, attitude, price, and product quality in the restaurant. Even if he can't eat the food their, as general manager it's his job to make sure things run smoothly. The head chef/cook should be the one that he relies on to make sure the taste is good for the food. As general manager, he should be listening to the customers, good and bad, and making any necessary changes to maximize the efficiency and profit of the restaurant. You can tell he's a really bad one because his only response to fewer customers is to raise the prices because, hey, if they're down to a third of the customers they just need to charge three times to price to make the difference right.
