The ODiN looks very similar to the Decepticons' AllSpark . I hope Dawid's home doesn't turn into a killer robots' lair.

Especially with the mouse, I fail to see any benefit of that over just carrying a regular mouse with you. You can buy a wireless mouse that is smaller than the size of that lazer projection box thing. A product that makes no sense imo.

I remember seeing an article on a similar keyboard, in a PC magazine, about 20 years ago. It was hailed as a big technological advancement, that would become common practice. I'm assuming the reason why it's not been seen between now and then is clearing demonstrated in your video. I only remembered this as it seemed so cool but I didn't have the 500 odd bucks, to buy it.

I've wanted that setup ever since I saw that stuff in Skymall magazine twenty years ago. You just made the kid in me very happy.

Fun Fact...I first read about laser keyboards in Harry Harrison's _Starworld_ book (the third in a trilogy: _Homeworld_ , _Wheelworld_ and the third mentioned before). The protagonist is trying to escape a prison starship and one of the other inmates has a medallion that wasn't confiscated that conceals a computer, which has a laser keyboard. The protagonist borrows it, and is able to hack the ship's systems and effect the escape of himself and the other prisoners. I always thought that was kind of cool, this hidden laser keyboard in something just a couple inches across. The future is now, eh? Pity it sucks in practice!

This was hilarious! I think it would be interesting to see how it would do with an RTS game like Starcraft 2 or AOE2, since those games use fast single clicks instead of having you hold down the keys. I also used to play AOE2 with a touch pad so it wouldnt be unheard of...

I remember in a magazine reading about that laser keyboard - 10+ years ago. Even back than, it was only considered a novelty, but not actually usable. I would never image someone taking the same approach to a mouse...

In csgo theres a few options you could do in the console to work with this keyboard somewhat, you could bind different keys to '+forward' and '-forward'. Or set up a toggle with a bind command, lots of workshop guides on thqt sorta stuff.

I actually seriously considered this “keyboard” due to its portability for taking on trips (using at a hotel desk or on a plane / train / bus table) for productivity. But I never thought about how GREAT it could be for gaming!

The game One Step From Eden could be good with this laser keyboard, as movements are already tap based in both it and the Megaman Battle Network games it was based on. You can't play Battle Network itself with the thing though, because Battle Network has two overworlds to traverse that you need to hold down walk buttons for.

Long ago, before i wanted to build PC's i wanted an All in one PC with touchscreen and use one of those laser keyboards and a mini mouse.

Laser based Headphones might be those things using Toslink(if it is really high quality, usually they might use LEDs)

I had one of those keyboard laser things about 20 years ago. They really look basically the same now as they did then. You should do a teardown and see if it has a 90s date on the pcb hah. Oh and yeah, they were garbage back then too.

Remember Chyrosran22 reviewing a similar keyboard. He was not kind to it. I'm thoroughly surprised the projector was the first thing to get noped on though.

I had one of those laser keyboards back in 2007 or 2008. Terrible for gaming. But was decent for typing and blowing peoples minds in college.

They also made a Laser Based VR, but they cant see or find the product anymore besides other things.

All you need now is fibre optic cables for display and peripherals so it's truly all lasers.

Actually, the little laser projector could be quite useful; use a small pebbled gain screen and set the projector on a desk webphone or mic stand, and it would be a great way to do portable presentations. Xenon and LED projectors are just too big..

I have already issues with using touchscreen. It requires to look at it while typing, so part of it is mitigated. Now when the screen is not also the input, you can't even see what you press, which is a huge issue, be it proper typing or gaming. A laser keyboard is basically made fir hunt and peck typing. But now I wanna see someone beat Dark Souls with that setup.

maybe you could try another surface (glass table, PVC pad or so), what could be for laser sensors another "difference level" (glass vs solid finger f.e.)

i had one of the og laser keyboard s and it was good . 200 bucks back in 2011 but they went under and now we have cheap ones

An optical audio converter is basically a lazer light input.

That mouse pad is dope.

My trackball mouse that I used for a short time, was just slightly less aggravating than this setup.

I just realized that I have one of those laser keyboards lol. A friend of mine gave me one a few months back and I just kinda threw it in my closet because idk what it was now that I’m using it, I can say that it sucks

I think this tech will be useful in apocalypse Bunker terminal where physical hardware is not needed to input things on terminals
