Josh McDaniels has literally coached more bottom 5 offenses than top 10 offenses without Brady. He’s not even that good of a coordinator.

Aside from his total lack of success as a head coach or maybe because of it Josh McDaniels totally lacks an aura of confidence needed to lead a team. His postgame interviews showed a complete absence of leadership, usually blaming players rather than a poor game plan and predictable play calling. He broke the world record for all the " you knows" he spouted during those post game interviews and I think the players decided early they weren't going anywhere with him and performed poorly.

We've had some good fits for this honor lately. Gase, Meyer, Kitchens, Hackett, but there's something about Josh McDaniels that is a special kind of INEPT.

Not only did he get fired in disgrace; it was for the same reasons, too.

Worst HC that seemed qualified is a more accurate description. Saban, Petrino, Meyer, and others from the college level are in their own class of failed coaches in the NFL. McDaniels, Hackett, and Gase were examples of fool’s gold since they all had ties to some sort of NFL success.

Actually this was his third stint, although he burned the Colts after eight hours it still counts.

Josh McDaniels hasn't proved himself to be a good offensive coordinator, just a effective assistant under Bill Belichick on a team that had Tom Brady.

Raiders are 3 and 5, but those 3 wins were incredibly close games against the worst teams who choked. 4 of the 5 losses were just painful to watch.

He's smart enough to take a system from the Patriots (that had Tom Brady and the best O Line ever.) But not smart enough to adapt it to a new team. No matter what industry you are in, this is ALWAYS a disaster.

"The Raiders have crashed and burned". Not really, as a Raiders fan, and seeing many other Raiders fans' reactions on social media, this is a breath of fresh air. Feels like we're not being held hostage by McDaniels. Pierce seems to be a coach who the players respect and will head into battle for. He was born in Compton and grew up a Raiders fan. His press conference was great, and instilled poise and confidence. McDaniels gave the vibes of a rich kid prick, who just blamed everyone else for anything that went wrong, and accepted full responsibility for everything when things went right. This is a better outlook than keeping McDaniels. Who should've never been hired in the first place.

Derek Carr didn't deserve to traded away, just so McDaniels could put in his boy, broken back Jimmy G. The guy can tear his MCL getting out of the shower, when hes not throwing interceptions. Dumb and dumber haircut Mark Davis has proved he ain't his Daddy, Al Davis. What a mess!

In my opinion, nobody beats Bobby Petrino for that dishonor. At least McDaniels stayed with the teams he was chosen to coach (until they fired him), whereas Petrino just packed it up one day and left without prior notice.

Only someone as incompetent as Mark Davis would give someone as incompetent as Josh McDaniels a second chance as a head coach. The problem with the Raiders wasn't ever McDaniels, he was just a symptom of the real problem--Mark Davis. Unless he can reanimate the corpse of his father to bring on as an adviser, the Raiders will never win with Mark Davis as the owner. And considering some of his moves in his latter days, even the zombie Al Davis might not be enough to overcome lil Markie's incompetence. Markie D needs to sell the team. He'll make billions, he can include a clause that he gets a sky box and valet parking at all the games in perpetuity; it will put one of the leagues marquee villan teams on the road to being relevant again, and it will save Master Davis from being heckled by drunk fans into firing the next coach. For the sake of the team, the league, the fans, the legacy of his zombie father and his own self esteem, Mark Davis needs to divest himself from all Raiders-related decision-making.

Rumor is he was furious at Derek Carr when Carr called an Audible at the line that resulted in Josh Jacobs going 85 yards to end the Seattle game in overtime. Seattle only had two Linebackers on the play looking for a pass. You can see Carr change the blocking scheme at the line, but McDaniels is such a control freak he was very upset.

Now that it’s come out he got fired for telling Pierce “don’t you ever talk about the Patriots like that” it sounds like McDaniels really needs to spend another decade around the league and start seeing himself as Josh McDaniels instead of the Patriots OC. Unfortunately if Bill isn’t fired I think it’s more likely he goes back to being the Pats OC and is there until Bill retires and he never finds another job. It’s somewhat sad to see a grown man with so few personal accomplishments that he has to tie his personality to the Pats and BB instead of his own.

Watching mcdummy come in to the raiders facilities all smiling makes me feel so irritated and frustrated knowing what was to come after that. Even when they announced he was to be the head coach I was so disappointed and knew he was going to be trash.

The headline isn't "Why was Josh McDaniels fired?" but rather "Why was Josh McDaniels hired in the first place?"

After watching him wreck the roster in Denver, I just shook my head and thought to myself, deja vu when he started his shenanigans with Carr.

The day the broncos fired Mike Shanahan they announced that the Broncos were now Jay Cutler’s team. Two weeks later McDaniels ran Cutler off and announced it was now Josh McDaniels team and then he sold the farm and brought in Tim Tebow to replace Jay Cutler. After that it was Kyle Orten. He should have never got another job in the NFL after that debacle. But in the Not For Long league billionaires have real short memories.

The role of a coordinator is to coach players. Also that of the position coaches (QB coach, etc.). The role of a head coach is much different - you do a bit of coaching but mostly you are an interface between the team, the coaches, and the media and fans.

As a Raider fan there’s one thing that has stunned me about the hiring of McDaniels and Ziegler in the first place. As the gentleman who put this video together pointed out, they were both on the Denver staff in 2010. Being a division rival of the Broncos you would think the Raiders would be one of the more informed teams of what they actually do to teams rather than what they do for a team. Still went for it anyway.

If the cardinals end up w the 1st pick in the draft and Aidan O’Connell doesn’t turn out to be any good I think the raiders should consider Kyler Murray if we can get him for cheap (like a 4th) if not Kyler maybe look into stafford if the rams are gonna tank because rn were too good of a team to finish w a top 5 pick and sending 4 firsts and a mix of late rounders is gonna kill this franchise too we need a vet at qb or to completely blow it up no in between
