I felt bad for the three assistant coaches McDaniels hired who moved to Indianapolis and were left high and dry when he didn't take the job. At least the Colts kept them on the coaching staff.

The Raiders hiring Josh McDaniels is a blessing for the Broncos and their fans. It only increases the intensity and animosity of one of the most intense rivalries in NFL history. There has been serious bad blood and hatred between the Broncos and Raiders for more than 50 years now. There have been conflicts and brawls not only between the players, but also between coaches and owners. Elway and the rest of the Broncos executives will hype up Raider weeks and emphasize that embarrassing Josh McDaniels is an expectation.

I think we can say that McDaniels screwing over Indy worked out well for everyone in the end. The Colts have a great head coach, the Patriots won another super bowl and drafted a good QB, and McDaniels pocketed a couple million more dollars before taking off for a Vegas superteam

Broncos fan here.. one of our former players, DJ Williams, said the season we started like 6-0 the league busted McDaniels for spying on opponents, and covered it up. Said McDaniels knew everything our opponents were gonna do.. untill he got busted. After that we went 2-8. The following season we started 3-9 and McDaniels got fired. Hes a fuckin snake.

Us bronco fans know Josh McDaniel very well traded away cutler after he had a pro bowl year for Kyle Orton bench Brandon Marshall and tony Scheffler on a must win game traded Brandon Marshall this man gutted that team and is responsible for the worst record in broncos franchise history in 2010

My sister worked with one of his teenage nieces or daughters (I forget which) and according to her he ended up staying because his kids really didn’t want to go. She said that was the tipping point for him staying in NE. He was on the fence prior. Again secondhand source but take it with a grain of salt.

As a lifetime broncos fan who believes McDaniels gutted the broncos during the time period and set us back years, he was also really young and immature. If he has matured, he has all the makings of a great coach. Energetic, knowledgeable, and loves to feature his stars (davante will be massive this year). Has he grown up? Who knows, but we'll find out. Just make sure someone gets veto power over him on personel decisions and then even if McDaniels does flame out, he can't do too much lasting damage. Every team in the AFC West is stacked this year. Should be a fun one.

As a pats fan, part of me wants to see him succeed, part of me wonders why he couldn't just wait a couple more years till Bill retires. He would get the gig. HC's get forgive a shitty first crack at it(Dungy, Belichek, on and on). But he used that one up in Denver. Now he's getting killed in Denver. Not winning AND not being likeable is a bad combo. And maybe now the Pats are seeing that he can't run a team. Once he's fired, he'll be a lifelong OC. And that's a fine thing. Making at least a million, less pressure than the HC. You just have to settle for something less than being 'the man'. My ego and bank account could handle OC for life, I know that much.

Lane Kiffen certainly deserves some mention in the Greatest Snake discussion, as does Urban Meyer. The top comment as of the time I’m writing this mentions Petrino, and he pretty much defines the word snake, but there are certainly others that are quite scaly.

Some of McDaniels sideline shenanigans looks like he had learnt nothing from his time in donkey land. When he was so poor in Denver as a head coach, being a people person is how you persuade people to play and win. Shouting out profanities is the work of a man who does not know how to deal with people. Fail to learn and you fail to win.

And here we are today. Mcdanials took a 10-7 team and in a season and a half drove them into the dirt. Today the Raiders were blown out by a Bears team playing a D2 undrafted QB who simply was better coached. 6 wins in 2022 and not looking any better in 2023. In a season and a half no improvements have been made only regression to something unrecognizable. Mcdanials cant get fired fast enough !!

Never hire a coach from Ohio

Raiders fan since the 70’s here. When word was out this guy was about to coach the Raiders I cringed. As a proud military veteran from Ft.Bragg NC, I’ve had the honor of being mentored by Leaders of men. McDaniels is not a leader of men, far from it. You can hear it in his voice, the way he speaks. He has a nervous demeanor because he does players dirty and has ill intentions with his decision making. He hides his nose in a “complicated” playbook that only he seems to understand. I’ll celebrate when this guy finally takes off the Raiders hat and walks out of Nevada. Players don’t want to play for this guy, the energy he brings or rather lack there of will never ignite nothing more than mediocre results, if that. His departure from Raider Nation cannot come soon enough.

As an avid hater of McDaniels and a lifetime Broncos fan I think a lot of analysts overlook what McDaniels did accomplish in Denver. That team was competitive at times and seemed to get more competitive every game. Watching Orton develop from a dink and dunk passer to someone throwing down the field as the season developed was very fun to watch actually. They were not a good team by any means, but for a guy to come in and wipe out all of their star players and rebuild with people who fit his vision I thought McDaniels was making acceptable progress. If you buy into the New England system then you know it takes several years to develop and I thought McDaniels was on that path in Denver. That doesn't mean I like him or what he accomplished in Denver but I know there was progress.
