I appreciate your kindness and support Tammy as well as all of you who have given Tammy's comment a thumbs up. I You are so right Tammy. Being a mature woman is a different world. I always have had such respect for women who are older than me and have had more life experience. Fortunately, I have had some amazing women in my life that have been incredible mentors. Being older is a privilege! I am extremely grateful for each day. Much love to all of you! xoxo

$20,00 for drugstore is absurd. I saw it for $30.00 at Walmart. At least high end you go in and can test it. You can't get samples for drugstore, and high end you are paying for innovation and the people in the dept. store to help you. For $20.00 you should not have to baby a product. It should walk the dog and unload the dishwasher. Thank you Laura.

Have you gone grocery shopping lately?! A pound of butter is nearly $6?! Prices have gone up on everything!! The Revlon Illuminance is $17-18. I don’t mind spending $40 on a foundation if it’s beautiful. You can return foundation that doesn’t work for you to Sephora, Ulta, drug stores and department stores. No reason to be stuck with one that doesn’t work for you. The “cost” of returning the items are already built in, so don’t feel guilty.

Prices are such these days that I'm not shocked by the $21 price tag, honestly. I wouldn't buy it, but I've watched reviews from folks around my age (late thirties to early forties), with a similar skin type to me (combination, but drier on tretinoin), and the results were quite nice. If I ever wanted to pay more for a higher quality drugstore foundation, I might reach for this one.

It’s a dupe for Chanel’s $70 essence foundation though and a lot of Oil of Olay and other brands are creeping into the $20 prices, which I agree is absurd except this one is supposed to not only be your foundation but also your skincare in one… a $50 savings from the Chanel Essence.

I’m 62 & also liked this foundation but that said, I found the tool I used to apply definitely mattered. First I tried using my usual 2 sided elf brush, wasn’t so happy but then with a flat top brush, quite firm, I found that it broke up the pigments much btr & gave me a much better result 👍 my experience was a good one, wear wise as well, but the price 😵‍💫 wth

I’m 54 with very dry skin and was really hoping the new Elf hydrating CC cream would be a more affordable version of the IT Cosmetics CC Nude Glow that’s my holy grail, but it definitely wasn’t. If I go light on product it doesn’t look as heavy but it actually sucks all of the hydration out of my skin. After a few hours my skin is SO dry and it looks so heavy, emphasizes every line on my face. I really appreciate your honest reviews ❤

You have beautiful skin, even without foundation. I'm in my 70's and few foundations work. I still use the fuller coverage (so not to waste) but mix in a little cream/oil product. Surprisingly, Vaseline, All-purpose cream works great for thinning foundation. It has glycerine and vitamin E. I made my own night cream, starting with a favorite night cream and adding Desitin baby ointment because of the Zinc and then oils like Castor, jojoba, coconut. Since it's night cream, you can tweak anyway. I also, sometimes, add just a smidge of this to foundation. People tell me I have beautiful skin. I still love and appreciate your videos!

I have severe rosacea, I can't wear sunscreen at all, I have to stay out of the sun. I just tried the elf halo glow, the stuff you put on under foundation, but I just wear it all by itself. It doesn't bother my skin and it looks nice. I was shocked. I haven't wore makeup hardly ever in my life, but now at 64 I want to wear it lightly. Still trying stuff, but so far I seem to be limited to halo glow and lipstick.

I am about the same age as you and one place I use foundation very sparingly is on my chin. I usually use whatever is left over on my fingers and apply to my chin after applying the rest of my foundation. I think you will get a much less cakey look. Another place to be very careful around is the sides of the nostrils, which can look very cakey there too. I pull my nose to the side and get it blended into every cranny there. I am also very sparing around the mouth. Any foundation or CC cream will look cakey if too much is applied.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the new elf Camo CC Cream. I reviewed it on my channel last week and had a completely different experience. I have combo skin, oily in the T Zone and the Camo Hydrating CC Cream wore beautiful for over 8 hours without primer, setting powder or setting spray. I didn’t pick up a scent at all. This is a great example of why a variety of RU-vidr reviews is so helpful since everyone’s experience can be so vastly different.
@LauraRaeBeauty
@LauraRaeBeauty 7 месяцев назад
I totally agree. I have skin similar to yours with an oily T Zone, but the texture of my skin must be different. Your skin is probably smoother. This CC Cream brought out every pore and fine line just like the original formula did. My skin is also very sensitive, so unfortunately it didn't work. Something a little thinner texture works well for me. Mac Face and Body is a favorite of mine. So glad that you are enjoying it! xoxo

So, I’m 45 and I have an expressive face, too. I have dry skin. I have the 11s between my eyes, and deep nasal labial folds. (I’ve always had nasal labial folds, lime Jennifer Aniston, but they have deepened with age). I have had success with the similar product to the Covergirl Essence tint by Rose Inc. I use concealer for more coverage in some places when I use that. I powder where I have deeper wrinkles. I haven’t tried the Covergirl that you are talking about. I also really like the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Serum Foundation. When I was younger I used the powder Bareminerals mineral foundation for many years. I haven’t tried it in a long time, but I’m curious if it could work for me. When I was in high school and college, I only ever used concealer to spot cover, and never a liquid foundation. I wore blush, mascara and all that, just now foundation. It’s funny to look back at that because I don’t remember ever even using powder. I’m still trying different products to see what works for me now that I am older. I really appreciate your reviews and recommendations, Laura. I’m only halfway with your video so I might comment again when I actually finish it. (I guess I have a lot to say today!) 😂

I've used the Chanel for a couple of years and was completely skeptical about the Cover Girl but they are virtual identical. I'm 70. Try using the Cover Girl AS a primer/skincare product. I have found the main problem with sunscreen in foundation is as soon as I get a bit warm ,I am involved with horses ,free range chooks and generally outdoorsy then it ends up getting in your eyes and stinging so much I can hardly see .I buy sunscreen that doesn’t do that ,just put concealer and blush on top of that .😊

It’s a bummer the CoverGirl one didn’t work for you. I’m in my 50s and have been using it for almost a week now. I did long wear test with it today, and wore it through a sweaty workout and fir the rest of my day after. It looked great even after about 10 hours of wear. It faded a bit, but still looked darn good. All foundations I’ve tried still show my wrinkles…but as long as it doesn’t settle in them, I’m happy. This didn’t settle in mine. I like a lighter coverage, so this worked well for me. It’s interesting how a product can work so well for one person and not another. Thanks for your input and reviews.

I got the Cover Girl Essence foundation at CVS for 40 percent off. They send me a 30 or 40 percent off coupon about once a week as I am an extra care rewards member. I think it is $5 a month. I can even use those coupons on Oribe products. Anyway, I didn’t keep it even for the bargain price. It felt great going on, but made my skin look dry and I have normal skin. I think it has a decent amount of alcohol in it if I remember correctly.

We just have to remember what works for one person, doesn't always work for another persons skin, but its good to get a 'heads up' to help decide if your skin might be like hers and if its worth a try anyway, or stear well away. I love it when people try it out and give honest comments on a product, better than saying it's 'wonderful' just because they're getting paid/sponsered!! 👍👍👍

I personally think the IT cosmetics CC cream is amazing and just gives you that dewy look... The CC illuminating is my favorite Also, I really like the REVLON anti-aging red one... really nice and not too matte at all... satin and light.

Your skin is beautiful!!! I would definitely say that makeup is optional for you. What is your skincare routine? I have normal skin and am 63. My most recent favorite foundation is Revlon Illuminance. I recently bought that in a skin tint that I haven’t tried yet. I had acne for four decades and now I can get away with no foundation. No scarring left!!

Just curious, Laura, have you tried applying the cover girl foundation with a flat top, stiffer brush to help break pigments while applying?? My first experience wasn’t a good one with a “looser” bristle brush, didn’t have enough to break up pigments, but with above said brush worked well & it also wore well, didn’t have the settling you said you experienced 🤷‍♀️ we’re all different which is why there’s soooo many products out there…btw I’m 62 with dryer skin, pores & texture for sure 🤪
@LauraRaeBeauty
@LauraRaeBeauty 7 месяцев назад
I will try that. I do not have dry skin. My skin is combination and the areas that I had difficulty with had more texture. I will give it another go just to make sure.❤️

I absolutely love the Oil of Olay Essence (but not the price and I’ve gotten the same effect mixing a foundation my fav serums. People forget you can mix base products with all sorts of things, including serums, moisturizers, primers, a little illuminator and so on to get a cocktail you really enjoy and it more geared towards your skin needs. The Oil of Olay Advanced Radiance Age Defying foundation, in the pump but not with the swirls is a fantastic one for aging skin. I am 45 so right in the middle there. I don’t know of any place that won’t allow returns for used makeup as long as it’s within their return policy time allotted, so if you don’t like it be sure to keep the receipt and return. Also Ulta and Sephora provide samples that is incredibly helpful before investing in a product you are unsure about. I think you’d like the O of O radiance foundation just from what you described as a preference. It isn’t overly dewy. I agree a foundation should just work and you shouldn’t need a primer although primers are great. I agree too with the Elf Camo BB/CC creams not being good. I don’t even see a difference between the original and the hydrating one, but I also don’t like the It Cosmetics CC creams in any of the different finishes. The shades are atrocious on the Elf and it’s nearly impossible to get your correct undertone. Some foundations I will buy until my dying day or they discontinue them are the Believe (Dollar General, just $5) and the Kokie Skin Perfect original foundation. These are satin and so beautiful on the skin. Kokie I prefer over the two, but both great formulas and work great for young skin and middle age skin. I do light layers and build and like more natural satin finish, so I don’t know how they perform with a lot on. But I highly recommend both of these and the Oil of Olay Radiance foundation. The radiance kinda scares off combo to oily skin goers, but I really don’t think it is a dewy/radiant foundation, definitely not once you set it with a lil powder.

I'm 58 and have oily skin with wrinkles along forehead, around mouth and eyes. For added bonuses, I break out some, have hyperpigmentation along jawline and have a broken capillary beside nose. Most of the time, I just wear tinted sunscreen and use concealer where needed. I can't stand the feel of lots of makeup on my skin. Even some sunscreens feel too heavy. When I have to wear foundation, it's usually catrice or ulta, but I'm going to try the Mac fix too. Anything covergirl or neutrogena either breaks me out or gives me a rash, always has. Tarte also breaks me out The one I couldn't stand is the It cosmetics CC creams. Very heavy and settles right into every pore and wrinkle. IMO most foundations and concealers do accentuate wrinkles somewhat, but even toned skin is the payoff and that always looks better.

I heard about the Covergirl and was intrigued. I'm 59 & lately wanting a more natural finish. But tbh, the comparisons to the Chanel water tint also perked my ears up bc I really do love Chanel foundations. I started looking for the CG but was having no luck but in the meantime stopped by a Chanel counter. I was familiar with the tint, but not the complexion touch. After her trying both, I liked tge newer "touch" better. Was wanting until I could budget it & finally found the CG. Thankfully tho I had a coupon so only paid around $13 for it. And tbh, I 💯 expected to ❤ it. I'd not heard even 1 negative review. First off, I needed much more than I've seen ppl use to get any kind of coverage. But initially thought it looked nice. But, after a bit was shocked to see how oily/shiny it had become!? I generally don't really have to powder. My rule of thumb is if powder is necessary to make it work its a no for me. Will buy the Chanel, but really need to also try that again to know for sure if good?
@vadal4043
@vadal4043 7 месяцев назад
For the Chanel product, they specify to use a stiffer brush, swirl in the product and break up the pigment capsules first on back/palm of the hand. Then brush it onto face. It then applies smoothly and keeps the product from collecting in patches. I've used both the Chanel and the CG one, and find that if you apply using this method, the CG looks very similar to the Chanel product. Just my experience! I am 70+ with very dry skin and rarely have luck with any drug store foundation, so I am happy the CG product is useful as an "everyday" option compared to the Chanel price tag.

That's right, Chanel says to apply with fingers... and it works pretty nice for me, so the blush too. A stippling brush may work too, the warmth of fingers works best to bring the pigments to work well.

When you mentioned your pores showing with the Elf CC it reminded me of Haus Labs. If I do not use a proper primer under my Haus Labs foundation it looks so horrendous. Every single pore on my face showed up and it just made me look horrible. But as long as I wear a good, it looks fabulous.

I didn’t like either of these foundations. I returned the Elf (sorry, but I can’t afford to keep product I won’t use) and the Covergirl I mix a little into my sunscreen and it works great for that purpose. Self tanner doesn’t ever want to stick to my neck and the CG gives me some color without having to drag foundation down my neck. A couple of new to me foundations that I like are the Iris & Romeo Best Skin Days and the Yensa bc foundation. Both lovely on my maturing skin. On another note it saddens me someone was rude to you. I hope you look past it and know the people that do that are only sad themselves and can’t be a person that lifts someone up. It makes me feel better to say a prayer for those people because they obviously need it.

I appreciate your comment so much. Thank you for your recommendation. I love the idea of mixing the CoverGirl with sunscreen. I am going to give it a try. Also, I am allergic to all self-tanning products, so I am going to use the CoverGirl for my neck. Awesome ideas! xoxo

I must say you're natural skin looks better than any of these foundations which is wonderful. My opinion is that the colors are too light. I have found that a bit darker colors are better for older skin. Again my opinion. All you need is some concealer. So that's very good. Thanks for this informative video. 👍

Rose Inc. also has a pigment essence foundation just like the one you tried. I think people forget about it and only remember the Chanel. I really like my Rose Inc. one, it’s not as shiny as the Cover Girl, and it’s only 1/2 the price of the Chanel one. Rose Inc calls hers a skin tint. Once last thing, you really really have to mix so that the beads are broken and mixed together really really good. This was a great video and now I’ll skip on both of those. Thanks for the tips. ❤

I would not try either of these to begin with. CC or BB creams are way too heavy. And as an oily girl I don’t think the other would work. I’ve been happy with serum foundations just to even my skin tone out. Applied lightly it doesn’t settle. Foundations are tricky the older you get. Thanks for the video
