Thank you for posting this! I indeed purchased the Kaplan book but with the wide range of the math subject, I did not feel as if it was assisting me with my learning nor helping me retain my knowledge for passing the test. I do confess that your light and salt learning is helping me understand the subjects at a bit more in depth view and the comprehension with your explanation is so much more helpful that what I received in the past from teachers of my traditional public schooling. Then again, sadly my public schooling was just that. Not in depth, nor captivating and things weren't explained properly in any specific detail. The teachers were cryptic and just assumed you were following along.. Thank you for everything you do for us students. I'm still a light and salt unofficial video learning student with hopes to pass the test one day soon. Just the math portion left and I can feel the success of me passing it! I believe that I can do it!
I just wanted to say, you helped me pass the GED math test after studying on and off for years. I was holding myself back but your videos were easier to understand than others. I finally got my GED last year thanks to you :D
@@LightandSaltLearningI'm taking my GED math test this Monday wish me luck What subjects our most prominent so I can deep-dive them for the time I have
@@LightandSaltLearning I am from Iraq. If I come to America, can I study GED? In Iraq, I reached the last stage of high school, but I stumbled in it for years. I have been trying to succeed but I cannot. I hope you can help me. Can I take it from America and complete my university in America? Greetings to you.
Kate!! You really helped me. Just took my ged and passed the math. That’s the only subject I needed. I really appreciate your help!! I have my GED now thanks to the math help. 😊
I definitely agree! Your method/program really helped me refresh my math abilities after years of not understanding the basics (which was especially hard because I was placed in higher math than I could understand for YEARS). I didn’t even fully immerse myself in your program and I still felt engaged and developed skills. In the end I scored a 173 on my math test thanks to your program and pushing myself (lol).
I finally got my GED about a month ago! Whenever I would go to my GED classes...My teacher would always play your videos for our classroom to watch! Your videos were a big help towards my GED journey! Keep doing what you're doing, Kate and thanks for everything.
I have wanted to literally die sometimes bc of math. I’m a mother of 4. I am going through a divorce. I spent 16 years being a stay at home mom while he served the army. And now I am left with nothing. I have no career, no job. Nothing. And In order for me to get hired I have to at least have my GED. I’ve passed every single test but math. It’s so overwhelming. I get discouraged very easily bc there’s just simply too much to remember. There are thousands of rules. I learn one topic and then BAM right on to the next. I feel I have to learn math in a few months that everyone else had from K-12 to learn: I was not given the luxury of a good childhood. So I am left feeling beyond hopeless. Who the heck would want to hire a loser like me compared to others? I could use all the help you have to offer. I need to be able to provide for myself and my children. Mahalo🌺
I am so sorry to hear the struggle you're going through. I am telling you now that you're not a loser. You a a beautiful person who can do this hard thing. Are you working on the website, www.lightandsaltlearning.org?
Soo i need to get my GED. I was neglected as a kid and only went to school till 4th grade. I'm okay with writing/reading, but I don't know where to start with math. Last thing learned was times tables..
You are not alone! Many students with situations similar have been able to get their GED® with some hard work. Here's some starting points. Read a book you ENJOY for a half hour every day -- this will help you with ALL the tests. And work on readtheory.org, reading each passage slowly and carefully. Take your time on each quiz and don’t work on it when you're stressed or rushed. The best way to get help for the math portion is to use the website www.lightandsaltlearning.org/ged-math-crash-course. Start at Unit 0 and work your way through doing one worksheet for each video. We also encourage you to join our FB student support group. It’s a very active group with over 20k members and a great place to get insight into the GED® subjects. You can ask questions, talk to volunteer tutors, and discuss subjects with other students. If you do join, be sure to check out the Guides section for free resources! facebook.com/groups/lightandsaltlearning Happy Learning!
I have completed the GED with passing colours, here in the Netherlands. As well as receiving my teaching degree and now doing my masters in nursing. 🙌🏻 I didn’t know this was even possible as I thought the GED had to be taken in your state only. Let alone a whole different country. Thank you GED program! Definitely a life saver, if I would have had to complete the Dutch high school program I would have most likely not pass. As Dutch is only my second language.
It's OK to deep dive with the Kaplan, at least you're getting all four subjects. Focus on one subject at a time, I'm not one to get confused. I know my weakness on a specific subject and then I study that issue within that subject. I never give up. Still have work to do Science 143, Math 144, passed Language Arts Reasoning, 151. Taking the Social Studies in person. Thank you so much checking your page out. Wish me blessings plz.
Thank you, I needed this. I took it twice. First time I scored 138. Second time I tried a bit more with little studying and got 143. I’ll just focus on algebra and see where that leads me.
I went to school for it they had all these different books and the ged ONLY focus on 4 subjects and only about 45 questions.. graphs was my biggest problem.. I suggest taking it to see how it is ... and to reschedule where I live is actually free the next two times if you don't pass. I scored an 143 failed by 2 points.
Hey this my first time seeing and hearing about the GED test. What do I need exactly and is it just math or a little bit of everything from high school. Also what are some websites that I can use to check the test out or would I have to go to a testing place with other people. Last thing how long do you think it would take to get it if I started today on studying.?
I’ve yet to take my ged math test I was wondering if you’d or someone else here would know what math subject or subjects should I go deep to get the passing grade ? (hopefully the first try) please and thank you🙏🏻
Have you taken the practice test yet? It will help you get an idea of where to start. And, join the Facebook group. Hi guys, I passed the three subjects except the English language art I didn’t pass it yet. I have been trying for two years, taking the test and didn’t pass. Because English is my second language struggling a lot of this exam can give me an advice please also the English language art test become harder and harder and my score keep decreasing, even though I took classes and studied hard. It doesn’t make any difference.
Just curios how do you figure if I got really good at like say the fractions portion of the test and was super proficient in just the fractions aspect, that would be all I’d need to pass? I’ve skimmed through the review booklet ( math is the last subject I’m currently studying ) and I can see there is tons of category’s so I’m confused why mastering one category would give me enough marks to pass?
Hello, There are 5 main parts to the GED math. 1: Algebra Essentials 2: Slope & Lines 3: GED Geometry 4: Data Analysis 5: Word Problems Instead of trying to learn them all, it's likely you'll do better if you go deep on one portion. Especially since they all tend to overlap.
1) Make an account on GED.com, 2) Take a ready test in science, RLA, or SS to test your readiness for those reading based subjects, and start studying math at www.lightandsaltlearning.org
@@LightandSaltLearning thanks. Yeah had to drop out due to issues in my personal life had to help family take care of my grandmother after grandfather passed away. Figured it's time I get a ged to make certain things easier.
I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling. I know it seems as though you will never pass, and you're not the only person to think that! Let's try to figure out what the issue is. Hello! You can start here for Algebra, www.lightandsaltlearning.org/ged-math-crash-course/1-algebra-essentials. The instructions for the calculator may not apply to you, depending on the calculator your class uses. You should be golden with everything else.

As a 18 year old the best thing I can say to help you is to actually do what she said and study 2 high school maths from a basic level and then expand your knowledge on them. Again do one first then move to the other you should be fine. Consistency and repetition is key with Math. Use khan academy and go to your nearest library and get a textbook with specific math subjects. There are also tutors you can pay online to help you. You can use preply and you can find tutors with decent prices.
You don't need any background knowledge to start learning GED Math! That's why our materials are designed the way they are, so that even beginning level students can start GED Math right away. Head to www.lightandsaltlearning.org and get started! You've got this!
I've been going through the entire kaplin book And taking notes from every section. Afterward I google worksheets for that section. Then take The pretest in the book. Once I know the things I Still need work on I just repeat that section until I understand. It takes a long time. But I think it will be worth it when I take my test. I'm trying to go wide and deep.

This is embarrassing but Im at maybe a middle school math level.. im 28 I went straight into the trades at 17 now I want to get the licenses required to have my own business and a diploma is required! I feel doomed. Should I expect this to take years? My uncle was ready to hand over the reigns but without the license it can’t happen so I’m in a pickle.

My cousin was taking his and I thought "how hard could it be?" I failed the test and I have a JD! 😂 I don't know how I passed college algebra and calculus...seriously...I can't remember my freshman year of college 🍻
@LightandSaltLearning If you don't use it, you lose it! That's what happens as you get older. So many things get pushed into your brain. Stuff starts falling out. 😆

I've been in Pittsburgh literacy for 3yrs now. studying math, it's 100% helping. it's taking forever. each time I've taken the "TABE" test, I've been going up 25points. Going deep into it actually works. have yet to try the actual test yet
