@@MarcosValcuende Probably because it has gotten some mixed reception amongst critics and audiences. Now I don’t take Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic very seriously anymore, but a Damien Chazelle movie getting a 55% on RT, and 61 on Metacritic? Hmmmm.
I just feel bad for the vfx artists working for marvel. They are constantly mistreated and it really affects their work. Marvel and Disney really need to do better
I do one hundred percent agree with you Eric Crater the visual effects are just absolutely horrendous it just shows at Disney really is running out of ideas and they really have got to bring him better VFX artists and I feel so bad for them I will say the biggest positive across the spider-verse looks way better than this. Plus across the spider verse is an animated comic book movie.
@@natek4488 I agree. I always thought that they should have taken a 5 year break after that. But instead they just gave us WAY more and it became too much to swallow.
I don’t think Taika Waititi is a bad director. I just think he didn’t want to make another Thor movie after Ragnarok. All of his other movies have a clear amount of passion and effort behind it.
he's not a bad director because he's not a director, he shouldn't have been one to begin with. it's ok..ish for youtube and only for that. but not for real movies. has neither the talent nor the flair to direct a feature film.
@@henryreinoso4143 Probably to fund personal projects, it’s why a lot of directors do these superhero movies in the first place, to get money for films they want to do that studios would not pay for otherwise
The fall of Pixar is shocking. For them to be one of the most acclaimed film studios on the planet, to one of the biggest film reviewers justifiably calling it "disgusting" and the second worst film of 2022, you can see how far Pixar has fallen.
10. Ambulance (Michael Bay’s Best and Worst album) 9. Jurassic World Dominion (one big pile of sh*t) 8. Fantastic Beasts 3 (not even Mads Mikkelsen could save it) 7. Doctor Strange 2 (not enough multiverse or madness) 6. Uncharted (Pay to watch generic treasure hunt with Spider-Man and Mark Wahlberg!) 5. Memory (utterly forgettable Liam Neeson revenge movie from the director of Casino Royale) 4. Morbius (it’s Morbin’ time!) 3. Thor: Love and Thunder (Bore: Thud and Blunder) 2. Disney+ Pinocchio (wooden) 1. Moonfall (Roland Emmerich’s disaster movie that is a disaster)
12:01 to be honest his performance in Free Guy is probably an accurate representation of how Taika Waititi was like during the production of Thor Love And Thunder 😂
Thor: Love and Thunder is one of the reasons the MCU isn't special to me anymore. With the first three phases, you felt the passion behind each project, building up to the big event, Endgame. Love and Thunder didn't do that. It's just another mediocre schlock that reminds us how bad things are. Still, Morbius was worse to me but it's because that Sony is convinced that their thing is going to work, and no matter how many times they fail, their ego gets the better of them. Also, the worst Pixar film of the year for me was Turning Red. The sheer corniness that movie was hurt my spirit so badly, that I hate talking about the movie. That's about it for me.
One thing that did work with Lightyear is that basically Andy's toy is not based on the movie version of Buzz, but rather the tie-in animated series the movie in that universe would have gotten which would have another voice entirely ( Like how Patrick Warburton filled in for Allen) which is how they could explain why it looks worse than the movie in terms of designs since most movie tie-in cartoons suffered from that. Would have worked if Andy saw the cartoon and got his mom to get the toy like so many kids would rather than the movie etc.
15:33 While I do hate this moment and really don't like this movie, I think I found the reason why Thor was able to do this. The lightning that he transferred to the kids was yellow, not blue, like his signature lightning. It was because he held Zeus's thunderbolt in his hand, he was able to transfer his power over to those kids. So, this is just plot contrivance for a deus ex machina. Zeus's thunderbolt was not prior established to show and/or tell me that one can transfer their power over to other people. Yet here we are...
Nice list of your worst movies of 2022 and I especially agree with you on Jurassic World Dominion and you’re not alone at this but I was disappointed with the movie as well and the fact that the dinosaurs don’t get enough screen time and used as background characters is somewhat baffling and a massive punch in the gut, hopefully, the new dinosaur movie 65 would do a lot better than Jurassic World Dominion because I did not enjoy the movie at all. Here’s my top five worst movies of 2022… 5. Disney’s Pinocchio 2022 4. Marmaduke 2022 3. Morbius 2. Paws and Fury 1. After Ever Happy Those are my worst movies of 2022 and hopefully, 2023 would do a lot better than 2022 and great work and keep it up Eric Partner
We're not. The movie is going to flop and Sony is going to blame it on the rating completely missing the point of why they failed. As they always do. And we won't get any more R rated comic book movies.
As soon as I saw how long the video was I got pretty worried and I had an adrenelin rush the whole time watching it and I loved it yet another great video to enjoy great job
Yeah Lightyear should have removed the opening crawl saying this in universe movie came out in 1995. They should have made a post credit scene featuring adult Andy and his kid(s) finishing the movie. a better bonus if if there was a teaser poster for a woody movie.
Sometimes, an ending can be so bad that it just ruins the entire film. Even with TV shows, that one bad last episode can sometimes ruin the rewatchability of the whole show.
Ice Age 6 was the worst project from 2022 and it was disrespectful to the original series from my childhood! Characters from the original series were removed and ignored as if they didn’t existed, the voice cast didn’t come back except for Simon Pegg as Buck, and the writing was stupid and awful!
Yet again another brilliant video Eric! And I had a feeling about your number 1 for quite a while😂. And I can understand your opinion. Although I didn’t hate it THAT much, the more I reflect on it,the less I like it. Anyway keep up the great work Eric!(BTW sorry for telling you my opinion on the same movie for the third time)
I get that movies with LGBTQ didn’t exist in the 90s, but this is an alternate universe with an alternate 90s. Maybe in the Toy Story universe, LGBTQ representation became a thing earlier. But how come in the in-universe lore, Zurg is Buzz’s father, but in the movie, Zurg is an older version of him. Also, why would he spend all the time and effort to make himself a robot costume and robot droids if all he wanted was to talk to his past self? You don’t need a bunch of robots to defeat your past self. Also, the whole thing about the villain secretly being the main character from an altered future is an obvious ripoff from the Lego Movie 2.
Although I don’t hate Smile I’m glad that someone agrees with me that the twist was complete shit! I would’ve liked Smile a lot more if it wasn’t for the twist ending.
@@aadenwyllie9737 was it because of the reveal of the demon? Or something else? I know Eric said it pretty much destroyed the theme of trauma it was going for. I just wanted an explanation of how that's the case, if that's ok?
Here is my top 5 worst movies of 2022: 5. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild 4. Choose or Die 3. Fugitive: The Curious Case of Carlos Ghosn 2. Don't Kill Me 1. Marmaduke
Awesome video, Eric. Thor: Love and Thunder was just not it and it gets more disappointing the more I think about it and I hope the fifth Thor film gets a very different tone. Also have you seen M3GAN yet? If so, are you planning to do a versus video with it against Child's Play (original or remake)? Anyways, keep up the great work!
I will say that for all of Love and Thunder’s faults, I can’t agree that Taika ruined Jane. She was always terrible. There was nothing about her character or Portman’s performance that was there to ruin. She was poorly used in the first film. She was poorly used in the second film and she was poorly used here. There’s a reason why she didn’t appear in Ragnarok (which is easily the best of the Thor movies because the other three still suck). I’m not gonna argue about everything else because I do agree with you on it (aside from the Taika Waititi hate).
I don't have Taika. But I really couldn't stand his absurdity when taking on this movie. Why would he make a joke out of the Infinity Gauntlet. Even he should know to take that event seriously in the movie's world. I will always like his previous projects but I REALLY disliked his whole process with Thor Love and Thunder. Also I agree. Jane was never a great character. But I thought she was even more shallow in this movie. Thanks so much for watching and commenting Adam! 😊
@@theggamer2824 They did as well, I believe every movie Disney released got sent to every category out of contract obligations since every studio must do this, we will see what made it in on January 24 when the final nominations are announced
The only marvel movie I am way more height for is Spider-Man across the spider-verse because that will treat his audience with respect and not only that though but it's carrying the themes and messages and the heart of the first movie into The second One it's looking like it's going to be even bigger than the first spider-verse movie and there really is a lot to really appreciate and I'm so going to try my best to see that opening night.
I'm really hoping the Ant-Man the WASP quantum medium and guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 will hopefully get the MCU Back on track but honestly from here on out I'm pretty much out of marvel for good because of how bad the writing has gotten their jokes have gotten worse and overall they're just not relying on good writing.
Alright. Time to discuss the problems I had with the movies I saw this year. Thor: Love and Thunder I thought that this was a charming and harmless film, but it could have been so much better. The only character that I really liked was the God Butcher, but only because Christian Bale was playing the role. The Batman This movie is basically perfect, but I only have one issue. Upon first watch, I loved it, but when I went to see it again with my brother, the second act felt really slow, particularly when it focused of Falcone. I still enjoyed it, but it was a little slow. Morbius I was expecting it to be complete sh*t, but I did enjoy it quite a bit. However, I don't think I really need to say anything about it, since you put much of the problems of this movie into better words than I could. However, I do want to point out a couple of things. First, when Morbius found his caretaker covered in blood and didn't go rabid, but then his love interest got a small cut and he started to get the crazy eyes. I think that he didn't go rabid because the blood seemed dry. As far as I know, vampires can't drink dry blood. However, the blood from the cut was fresh and drinkable, leading to the crazy eyes. Then, there's the fact that when his childhood friend became a vampire, he could stay in that form forever and have complete control over it. That was just stupid. F9 I binged the F&F franchise with my dad and brother this year, and this was the only one that I didn't like. I mean...cars in space? Really? Jurassic World: Dominion Yeah. I'm not proud to admit this. This was the biggest disappointment of the year, and even though I put it on my best list, it was out of pity. The Golden Child Another one I'm not proud to admit, but for a different reason. Many movies I watch are either on my own or with my dad. It is because of him that I saw 300, Saving Private Ryan, and Forrest Gump, some of the best movies I have seen. This one was with my mom. My mom has a different taste in movies, and I can never take that away from her. Eddie Murphy's performance is great, but all the other characters act so stoic and serious, which greatly conflicted with Murphy's character. They should have done what Ace Ventura or the Austin Powers movies did and had all the characters act like clowns. On a side note, Ace is my first full Jim Carrey movie, and he's a living cartoon character. Belle My favorite movie from 2022 is not without its flaws. Mainly the story. It has three main plotlines: the main one, the Beauty and the Beast story, and a child abuse story. The main one involves the main character, Suzu (Belle) deals with the grief of losing her mother at an early age. She enters the virtual world of U and gains the confidence to sing. She is about to perform at a concert, but a monster named Dragon comes and ruins it. Belle goes to investigate, and the B&B storyline comes into play. It turns out later on that Dragon is a child abuse victim in real life, and is taking his anger out on the authorities of U. Pacific Rim: Uprising I liked this movie, but there weren't as many monsters as the first movie, which was disappointing. Annabelle 1 The entire first act half of the movie is nonsense. But when they get into the apartment, it starts to get good. The husband is stupid throughout, though. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) I can see the mass appeal of this movie, but it didn't hit it with me. Freddy Krueger is the first of the big three (the others being Jason and Michael Myers) that I have seen, and he's cool. But I think that the movie's downside is that it's so iconic. The Exorcist Holy fucking goddamn shit. This movie was so disturbing. The first time the girl turned her head was so quick and sudden, and I was eating lunch when she vomited on the Exorcist. It is in no way a bad movie, but I am never watching it again. Once is enough.
Good thing I have avoided the thor love and thunder since the day it came out. Good thing I haven't seen or watched it illegally so I'm good. Great video Eric!
Great list, Eric! Haven't seen Smile, Morbius, and Jurassic Dominion. I am putting off rewatching Lightyear because I did miss some details, but it felt meh to me. I hope whatever trend Pixar was trying to attempt-giving fictional truish backstories to the toy story characters-dies off with Lightyear. Not enough to be on my top 5 worst list but far from my best list. Thor: Love and Thunder, again, missed some details, but I also thought it wasn't all that great. Both those movies I'm currently giving a C-. Now, my top 5 worst movies of 2022: #1. Deep Water: F (boring) #2. Brazen: F (why the heck didn't I listen to my intuition and just stopped watching this? It was just ridiculous and just ick!) #3. Master (2022): D- (I like the ending but everything else was terrible: characters are thin, a plot twist that makes no freaking sense and they don't fully explain whether or not something scary was happening. Bad attempt at a Social Thriller) #4. Through My Window: D- (I turned this off because it gave me Twilight vibes) #5. Don't Worry Darling: D+ (beautifully shot and well acted but the story dragged, the characters were unteresting, the twist was bad, the climax was a joke, and the ending was unfairly concluded. I love Social Thrillers, now I haven't seen ones like The Invitation, They/Them, Men or anything else-saw Nope (B- but still disappointed by it), but I felt this wasn't the year for Social Thrillers. P.S. I haven't seen The Last Airbender Live action, thank goodness, but oh man, please don't tell me that girl was supposed to be Azula!
Good list Eric! Here's my top 5 worst movies of 2022 1. Disney's Pinocchio 2022 2. Thor: Love and Thunder 3. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild 4. Morbius 5. Smile
Fortunately I didn't have the displeasure of being subjected to the full breadth of these insipid features, mostly due to having anticipated the pain and choosing to avoid masochism.
Thor love and thunder was underwhelming. This movie had so much potential to be awesome. but they wasted it and wasted a potentially awesome villain. I miss the old MCU, it wasn't perfect but it was great
2022 had some unexpected and unforgettable highlights, but dear god. When it got bad, it got UNBEARABLE. The MCU's embarrassing state, unforgivable treatment of VFX artists and animation getting shit on by big companies.
Maybe being hit in with the power of the dying star in Infinity War just made Thor more stupid. Think about it. He goes for Thanos’ chest instead of his head, he kills him later before the others can get more information out of him, he becomes a fat drunken slob in Endgame who prioritizes booze over the mission, and then there’s literally everything he does in Love and Thunder. Of course I mean that’s the in universe reason on why he became so dumb (bad writing being the obvious actual reason).
Great list Eric pretty much agree with most of the movies you included here, here’s my list 10. Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness 9. Uncharted 8. Green Lantern Beware My Power 7. Lightyear 6. Jurassic World Dominion 5. Morbius 4. Thor Love and Thunder 3. Men 2. Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild 1. Disney Live action Pinocchio
I agree with you about Thor Love and Thunder. I was excited to see Thor again but as soon it was released I was frustrated watching the movie. The jokes aren't funny, the writing is like it was written by 4 years olds, Thor was out of character from being a tragic character to an annoying idiot, the action is underwhelming and the effects looks unfinished. Let's not forget the music choice doesn't fit at all. The movie deserves a golden raspberry award for worst Marvel movie, worst superhero film, worst director, worst effects, worst acting and worst comedy. It's definitely the worst movie of 2022 and the absolute worst Marvel film of all time
@Eric Carter, I have a lot of questions: 1. There was a scene in The Batman, where during one of the conversations scenes between Batman and Catwoman, there was a line in between when Catwoman said something about the "over-privileged white a-holes" which really bothered me when I watched it in the theater, what are your thoughts about that line that Catwoman made? 2. Strange World, I hear it wasn't as bad as Lightyear, although the character of Ethan was wasted as the generic gay character who just so happens to have a crush on some guy, how did you put Strange World as your dishonorable mentions of the bad movies you didn't watch? 3. What are your thoughts on the new Velma series on HBO Max? I thought it was disrespecting the Scooby-Doo liscence!
1. That scene didn't bother me much because it wasn't said to make a statement like in other movies. I would have preferred if it wasn't used at all, but it wasn't as bad as it was in other movies that have a clear cut agenda. 2. The movie flopped, no one cares to see it and those that did thought it was mediocre at best or straight up boring, and even Disney had no faith in it and didn't bother marketing it. So it definitely was one of the higher profile movies that had potential to be on the list. 3. I have seen clips of the new Velma show and it is insulting, rude and mean spirited, and disguising it's bad mannerisms and statements as humour, which the show seems to know nothing about.
Honestly if Morbius showed up in Jurassic World Dominion showed up on the ending and Morbed all over the place it would have at least been one of the movie's of all time....Also Lightyear was a disappointment too but not as much as Thor Love And Thunder
You always talk about how much you don’t like comedy in serious movies. I want to see Thor 3 vs Thor 4 just because I’ve never heard you talk about Ragnarok and your general opinion about the movie. I know that Thor Ragnarok will get a higher score but I still wanna see your opinion on a movie that is considered a good comedy. Did you like Ragnarok?
I do like comedy in serious movies. But it depends what kind of comedy. Even the darkest and most serious movies out there have humour. I just don't like comedy that is borderline parody and undercuts the emotional and dramatical weight of the scene. I liked Thor Ragnarok up until Bruce and Thor enter the Hulk Parade. That's when I usually tune out of the movie and have had enough, as the rest of the movie is just more of the same.
@@EricCarter12 No offense, Eric. I wasn’t trying to offend you. I agree with most of the things you say about how comedy ruins, serious movie. I was just asking you a genuine question, do you like Thor: Ragnarok? Also, I can’t believe it. You replied to my comment? You’re of the best RU-vidrs and film critics out there. And I’m just a kid.
@@gregorybronstein Lol no offense taken. It's all right bud. Thanks. I always try to reply to as much comments as I can. Stay tuned, I have plenty more videos on the way!
Smile was only received as well as it was because of how derivative it was. The list of concepts that movie steals from other movies and doesn’t nearly do as good is almost endless
I have read the spoilers for Smile but am curious to know what was it about the ending that ruined the film's theme of trauma, if you don't mind me asking.
Disney. Marvel. They thought they had a handle on its audience. They never did. Did I reference Gotham Knights video game? How is it a video game’s story is far more darker than an actual Thor Movie? Morbius too.
Hey Eric have you seen better call Saul? It’s a tv show that ended in 2022. And it is in the same universe of breaking bad. I recommend it to you. Although the pacing is sometimes slow it is worth it in the end and makes the imact much bigger. Also the jack guy from Hawkeye is one of the best villians in all of tv in my opinion. I suggest it to you. And maybe you can even review it in your Instagram or something.
I don't think the question should be why didn't Thor give characters in Infinity War the power of Thor as he probably didn't know his capabilities at the time. I think better question is how come he didn't give the asgardians his powers when they were being attacked in their home.
It was definitely a BIG surprise for me when I watched it. It was a beautiful movie that had a BIG heart. It's sad to see how far Disney/Pixar have fallen.
My thoughts on every movie on this list: 5. Great movie, but the ending is stupid. 4. At least I had a fun time watching Venom. Even though I never watched Morbius, I can see why it’s a hard one to sit through and I would probably have the same reaction as the time I saw “Spider-Man 3”. At least the memes are funny. 3. Read my comment from your Jurassic World 3-way vs. video. Also, did you check out the extended cut? 2. Even though I thought the movie was okay, it actually felt more like the “live action remake” of the movie Andy saw when he was a boy. 1. I have no plans on watching this movie and it’s basically the definition of a marvel movie falling apart on phase 4. If you’re reading this, I have a question I’m probably going to regret asking you. Did you watch “365 Days: This Day”?
I already knew Thor, love and thunder was going to be terrible when they revealed Gorr the god butcher is going to look human than a menacing alien they’re more concerned about getting the actors likeness then comic book accuracy
100 percent agree that thor love and thunder was on the number 1 worst list. For me the movie didn't have the balance like ragnarok did, it handled the comedy and seriousness well and for thor my favourite character through the mcu was turned into comedian in the entire movie he wasn't serious or did not learn from his past movies, he was just immature entirely he didn't truly learn something he was just the same but for him were meant to feel sorry for the pain he went through about losing his family and brother . As for the villain gorr it started well in the opening when he had to carry his daughter and do everything to save her which was emotional scene but as the god butcher he just killed one god not any other gods on screen its a criminal for the best actor for bale that he didn't have any screen time for his character but he was putting much potential in. As for the side character like korg he was completely annoying entirely wish he was best killed off but he just feels like another taiki watitti character. Great video review 👍
13:58- not that I’m denying that this is happening because, frankly, I would believe it at this point, but do you have a source for this? I’m genuinely curious about whether or not it’s true
When I heard the story they were going to do for Thor. I was really excited. I thought hey that would be a great story to do for Thor now. It seemed like the right time. But after I watched Thor. I struggled to get through it. I was bored and so checked out by the half way point. And the number of jokes just killed it for me. So if there was a decent joke I completely ignored it. It deserves the number one spot.
Each day marvel shows me again and again that they are getting worse and that really hurts me because I have high hopes for their 2 new Avengers movies, kang dynasty and secret wars but now words cannot describe how upsetting I am at marvel.
Oh. Thor: Love and Thunder is one of the most miserable times I have ever had with a movie. It is the most unwatchable and undefendable Marvel movie ever. Marvel shills can also be some of the most obnoxious and petty people on this planet.
