Hey Everyone! Just wanted to let you know we are all OK here in LA. We did notice a lot of Key's fluff wafting through open areas, particularly the Valley and beach areas. Some cases of a stray fluff in some people's eyes were reported, but other than that no injuries.

Key's expression as the blower hits his itchy bits is hilarious. He KNOWS it feels good, but has to maintain his feigned distaste of it all even while his leg is doing the "itchy twitch", lol. My wolf friend Shasta as a kid lived "wild", but she was in utter bliss whenever I brushed her during the seasonal changes, she had the exact same facial expression as Key. Same thing with my Malamute Tasha, getting rid of all the itchy fur made her drool with joy. I think it's a deep rooted thing, all mammals LOVE being groomed, from primates, to dogs, cats and us humans, a good scratch or massage is utter bliss.

Jodie you need a bee keepers hat/bonnet for this. It keeps the fur out of your eyes, nose and throat. Also a de-shedding shampoo helps loosen the fur.

Hi jodie, we've got 6 Japanese Akitas between 10and 12 years and only truly dedicated dog people can survive this time of year. I have 2 washing machines which constantly block up and leave the house looking like a wooly mammoth but we wouldn't have it any other way. X

There's this thing called a "Happy Hoodie" it's like a headband you put over your dogs ears so the sound doesn't bother or scare them when your blowing out their fur or giving them a bath. Just throwing that idea out there incase loud sounds make him anxious.

Jodie - you can make yarn out of Key’s fluff. I used to do that with the fluff I gathered from my 2 chows. I crocheted very soft scarves that I still have the scarves 15 years after my chows passed. My “fur babies” are still keeping me warm and cuddly long after they crossed over Rainbow Bridge. There are quite a few folks on RU-vid who provide good explanations on taking fluffy dog fur and spinning it down to yarn for knitting, crocheting, etc.

I would love to do this to our 100% Siberian, Judy, but my pet dander would get the worst of me. I'm 61 and have had 5 dogs in my life, including a German Shepard Wolf cross breed. Dogs will forever be in my life as well as my family's life.

I think key has denial of shedding disorder, the only cure is lots of waffles and belly rubs lol, fr though I can’t believe how much fluff flew off him it was funny how he kept biting the air coming out of the blower😂.

May I make a suggestion? I groomer I watch on YT uses a big pink bee keepers hat that has a netting front and solid fabric back when she is blow drying shedding dogs after a bath. With your sewing skills, you might be able to make yourself something that would protect your face more completely. For instance, start with a simple ball cap with a brim and add netting all around with a drawstring bottom. Key did so well with the blower, and I would imagine he feels great too.

We lost our husky mix 30 years ago. My husband would sit in the living room floor & brush him. They could fill a white kitchen trash bag with the fluff. Less than 10 minutes later the tufts of tan fluff would start appearing.

G'day K'ey & Jodie, My nephew Porky the Golden Retriever sheds quite a lot, my Sister inlaw doesn't use a blower but the vacuum & he loves it when he gets vacuumed 🐶🥰
