It's deserved. It's not the community's job to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt, and it's not the content creator's job to prevent negative sentiment from seeping through the community. It's Blizzard's job to make their community feel good about the game, and it's no one's fault but theirs that they're failing badly at it. It's called public relations and brand image, and they chose to exchange it for short-term profit. It may not be the exact perfect use case for the review system, but does it really matter? That's how they've made the community feel through their decisions, and the community is just expressing that. That's it.
Exactly! You don’t get to the worst rated game on steam by mistake or some correlative artefact of content that RESONATES with people watching it. People agree with what they’re saying.
the restaurant analogy is a great point. The Steam review system isn't about giving the game a scored number on the quality of the game, it is a macro view on rating whether a game is worth spending time into or not, and Blizzard has proven time and time again they don't respect and value the players
Pve is underwhelming and the "review bombing" is actually a fare take with few joking reviews. Do artist deserve criticism or hate- no, does people behind the advertising and management deserve it? apsolutly. And the meal after 3 years of wait wasn't great, it was mid.

because lack of patch on Ow1 (ofc dev team was ''working'' on PVE ) then close it for overwatch 2 with no PVE at the release ( which was the point of it and why they were no patch for 3 YEARS on the first game ) was not that big of a slap ? maybe the moment they lied and not tell how they trash the gamemode ? at this point all of you were still playing OW2 , you guys ask for being slap harder.
I also love the game but I think they need to lower the cost of skins cause 20 dollars for 1 skin is a lot , I could buy a whole ass game with that money and even a full AAA game that came out last year, having heroes locked behind battle pass is just a dick move and it is frustrating for players. and having to pay 15$ for a one hour of gameplay of PvE is bullshit and the fact that you cant buy it with coins that you already bought is just unbelivable. I also hate the fact that they're selling the special overwatch leauge skins again. I bought the majority of them because I thought they were exclusive and never coming back. What a slap in the face that was eh?
I just want them to have done more, yeah season 6 is awesome and the current pve mode is fuun for the most part, but it's the fact we were led on so much so to false promises. I really was hyped for this hero mode and was bored with pvp up to this point and it hurt with how they did this.
lets be clear: The food in that restaurant analogy is almost good. The problem is that you, the customer, know 5 other restaurants that have food just as good if not better, cheaper and you dont have to wait for so long. Yes, maybe it is the only restaurant that serves a specific type of food, but when id rather stay hungry (do my laundry) than eat there, there is a problem (or a lot of them). And considering the player numbers on steam being on a steady decline (and a fast one at that) I would say other I am not the only one to feel this way.
It’s the executives and upper management’s fault of what happened. Not the core of the dev team. I doubt all the 3D artists etc really deserve this hate. But no content creator really wants to word things out that way we just blame the developers bc it’s easier than blaming the right people and that’s Activision/Blizzard executives but mostly activision. Activision uses blizzard as its scapegoat.

We've been lied to by Blizz quite a lot and I'm ngl it has pissed me off SO MUCH and as such doesn't warrant a very good review, but surely since the game itself IS STILL a good game, its not right that the reviews are "Overwhelmingly Negative", surely they should be slightly negative or even neutral no? Thats kinda why I don't agree with the review bombing because it gives the impression that its all fkin awful when in reality, its a good game but we've just promises that weren't kept imo
Yeah it’s honestly deserved . Their behavior truly deserves burnt ground bankruptcy. What’s a “fair” review for a company that literally steals from there customers and sells completely broken or unusable games . It’s a beautiful and fun game but literally every other aspect of it since overwatch 2 is meant to exploit you .
saying review bombing the game now will ruin its future is such a shit take, and the best example of this is no mans sky, if the devs can stick by the game and actually make changes that benefit the community, the reviews will show it. i understand its a live service game, and not run by an indie company that cares about the product as much, but i truly believe that if they actually fix the game, the reviews will change as well. hell they even have a recent reviews section in steam to point out what the current consensus is relative to the overall stuff in case patches make the game good/worse. the devs need to hear player dissatisfaction. cos if they dont itll only get worse
I mostly like the video, and the fact that you point out that the content creators are not to blame for what Blizzard has done, however I still don't think the review bombing is a good thing mainly because of the fact that so many of them are based on just following mob mentality and for fun basically. Quite a few of the reasons we don't like the game also seem to be outside of the game as well. OWL, for example, should not be a reason to review on the game itself since it's not directly involved inside of the game (except for the tokens I guess). The child predetory thing with the staff is definitely an issue, but that's the company directly, not about making the game. There is a lot wrong with what Blizard have done, but I wish it was handled a bit better than this.
Overwatch has so much potential. I love the game but it's fucking terrible. I've been playing since 2016. Almost half my life I've played Overwatch, it's literally a childhood game like minecraft for me. The obvious cash grab pisses me off among other things in overwatch 2 like no lfg and bringing back old content as branding at as new (like the on fire system--which is just worse than it was in the past) But aside from overwatches problems, one of my MAIN problems is that the devs dont know how to play the fucking game. I swear to god they playtest new patches against eachother and they can't be anything higher than (Overwatch 2) silver. They don't understand how the game works or how to balance in the slightest. It's trail and error for them and more often than not its error and they either take forever to fix something or come to a rudimentary solution that barely works. Every balance patch is them adding another layer of duck tape and calling it a job well done. It pisses me off. I laughed for minutes when they FINALLY changed genji back to having 30 shurikens. All the 10 or so heroes that they changed had developer notes but genji. They knew they were wrong and it took them months to admit is silently. So to sum it up, sure the higher up executives are fucking up the game with monetary problems, but the devs are shitty at the game, have an ego, and just dont understand how the game works.
It was really fun until season 3 after season 3 the competitive matchmaking just got really bad all at once and now they just keep adding stuff you can buy instead of fixing it.
It got bad. Because more people quit the game. So the positions that are not liked. Healer/Tank have lost more people. I played both positions. I abandoned the game in the middle of season 3. I was tired of being put into unbalanced games. All because I liked playing heals. And than stopped caring about everything. The moment the PVE PROPER died. Bar peoples reviews on how it's falling apart.
the story mode is so badly optimised, there are ememies clipping through walls and stuff. we should all boycott overwatch, you analogy about eating at the restaurant, its like them changing the menu and the food actually sucks worse then what was on the previous menu!
The mission I was playing by the water, I’ve had the lil dog robots clip through the objective you protect over 10 times. They then attack the objective from inside the wall.
yeah. like havent they had long enough to work on this pve story. so who are we to blame about the poor quality of story missions. It is honestly just archives! last time ill buy anything for this game tbh. i gave it a go, and cant justify paying for this story mission. when they used to give them to us for free in ow 1. Us "review bombing" OW2 is doing exactly what they did to us; pulling the rug straight from under us. Also, yeah, I believe in praising when needed, but also ground those praised with criticism. I've sunk my time and this is no where near a new game so why am I going to give a review of current events when there's been so much history. People deserve to hear my opinion on that history and how I've felt every year I played the game. Only reviewing current things is so disingenuous. I am going to be reviewing as a whole. I don't understand on how we are looked at so badly when I'm doing my part letting newcomers know what they are in for. Shit, at this point, I'm doing more than Blizzard.

Overwatch 2 doesn't deserve any hate they tried, they failed but they tried and the battlepass is so great, its so easy to earn skins and level up and the game is funner than ever! With riveting 5v5 gameplay you could never go wrong! Me if i was dumb as fucc overwatch 2 deserves its hate and more
yeah like the devs didn't already knew the state of the game, they may be not endorsing what is happening with the game but they already know, the bombing is directed at the stuck up higher ups.

My main issue with the hate is at its core the game is still very unique and IMO by a large margin the best and most engaging multiplayer pvp FPS you can currently play. Destiny would probably come right behind it but Destiny PvP is no where near as interesting. So for me its PvP, play overwatch and for PvE, play destiny. Its really that simple. To me this is no different then any other bandwagon twitter hate where its "cool" to hate something. It's REALLY easy to be critical about anything. It reminds me of how people are hating on Diablo without reconizing that the core main story and lvling from 0-50 is actually very fun. I mean are you going to tell me you can;t see the difference between your videos that have 100 views and your videos that have thousands? People like negativity its not an opinion.

There are a lot of misrepresentations in this video that spin certain things out of context. Much of the negative response was due to Chinese players angry at losing OW access then OW2 coming out. It’s obvious the vast majority did not play the game. The “consumer” being lied to only matters to existing players, new players have zero claim thus bombing OW on Steam was stupid. I will agree though from a “value” perspective, how hard can you complain about a free game ? The shitty PVE is a small part of it.
