A person's body chemistry can change a fragrance so much. I tried to wear one of my mother's perfumes once when I visited and forgot to pack fragrance. It smelled heavenly on her but after one swiff on me I was in the bathroom with alcohol wipes trying to wash the scent off my skin. It was so bad on me I couldn't wear it for one day.
A person's body chemistry can change from day to day as well, and particularly women, depending on where they are in their cycle. I couldn't wear really any fragrance when I was about to start my period. It smelled horrible until it was finished. (Jan Griffiths).
Would love a full perfume collection video. I’m personally a lover of BR540 as a gorgeous representation of saffron. Most of what I smell on the streets are dupes and the dupes can’t replicate the saffron. I also love Santal 33 but I wear it for myself because sandalwood is calming and relaxing to me. To each their own 😉
My sister had that perfume her fiancé paid like 500 dollars for it, I smelled it and it was so generic I said that smells like something you could get at Victoria Secret. It was sooooo overpriced and overrated. For that kind of money you could have bought some really nice niche fragrances
@@Lulubelle_312 all noses are unique and it can take time to appreciate or distinguish materials and notes that compose a fragrance. As a collector and lover of saffron, I appreciate the warm, aromatic composition of saffron in the fragrance but I can see how superficially, the top, sweet notes can be the only note that stands out for many and what has been replicated in many fragrances.
Follow up video of best fragrances - yes 🙌 And could you please show how you wear it. I see women spraying it all over their clothes and I’m wondering is this what you do?
@@frenchdesk8891 yes I think it was the top note that ruined it for me, so many beautiful fragrances out there I love to watch fragrance videos I get a lot of inspiration from them and have also bought a ton of fragrance from watching these videos, that’s actually how I became to love and really appreciate fragrance.
Fragrance is so subjective and personal. Yes body chemistry varies. But also our perceptions person to person are diverse based on our past experiences. I have tried to love Chanel No. 5 - I own a special edition bottle and some limited edition releases. On a good day, I can stand it. On most other days, I smell urine/cat pee and I get a nauseating headache. Maybe the dry down can be more tolerable for me, but I have tried many times and I can’t lie to myself. Baccarat was a favourite “if you know, you know” fragrance. TikTok overexposed it so we are smelling it everywhere. (TikTok ruined a lot of luxury, but I digress). I still love baccarat, though. I just wish it didn’t have a tendency to create anosmia after a few days.
Personally I'd like to see a dedicated faves video separate from the full collection, some of those full collection videos can be super long and hard to carve out time for but I would love to see more perfume content from you! The "if a woman wears x she's y" kind of funny format is awesome too, we know you do a great descriptive roast! Doesn't have to be all roasts either but just "what your perfume says about you"!
Chanel no 5 is one of my all time favorites❤Been through so many bottles of it….but I understand it’s not for everyone….but I can never be without a bottle of it my collection😊 I will say though it is not for all weathers….its a specifically a winter perfume for me😊
I still have a bottle of old formula Chanel No. 5 that I wear rarely. It was my mom's. It seems to get stronger on me as the day goes on. One little spritz will do it for the entire day. (Jan Griffiths).
I still wear Giorgio Beverly Hills from 1981...and I still get compliments on it...been hunted down in the grocery store by someone because of my perfume. And I wear my husband's Bulgari cologne.
I agree. First tried it in my 20's, it was not for me. Again in my 30's thinking that I've matured..and still a no. I recently tried it yet again , now I'm 46 and it will always be a no for me. Idk what it is but it has a funk/stink to it like toilet or something. lol But I do like the Mademoiselle.
Fragrance is so subjective. It completely depends on the person. I agree about Chanel No5. It smells like formaldehyde. But I will love Angel forever and I don't care.
I wore angel 20 years ago and still have a fondness for it. I wore flowerbomb when I was pregnant 13 years ago and now it’s offensive. Especially on a hot tube carriage 😢
I’m currently trying to finish my flower bomb and I will not be buying another one. Lol I too want to see it through. Lol Prada candy is a summer scent for me. My boyfriend loves it and I’ve always loved it. So that one will stay with me. I recently discovered Gucci Guilty Intense and that’s my new winter scent. Thanks for your video! Would love to see a full fragrance video!
Many fragrances become so wedded to a specific person in my mind that I can't stand smelling them on anyone else. My mom wore Youth Dew for over 40 years, my dear friend college roommate in the 1970's wore Shalimar, my beloved substitute grandmother / next door neighbor in the 1960's wore White Shoulders - and I can't bear to smell those scents on anyone else. They are pretty much out of fashion now so I seldom encounter them.
Interesting thing about angel (and j adore ) - perfume lovers are heartbroken over how they were reformulated a couple of years into their huge success. They tend to be simplified and cheapened down once they’re well known, angel was a beast of a complex naughty gourmande perfume in the 90s. It falls a bit flat now 😢 similar with j adore it’s Lost the majority of its character around 2010 or so
THANKS FOR SAYING IT!!! The 2st time I smelled Chanel No 5 my brain had short-circuited. It smelled SO BAD TO ME 😂 I wore the Gucci Rush as my first perfume at 16. It was cute in 2006. Finished the bottle.
Sure some of these (BR 540) have become very popular but that doesn't make me like it any less. I live in a city where I rarely smell it on others and I still adore it. It is truly a masterpiece so I wear what I like and tune out the noise.
You need to do a follow up omg!! I totally agreed with everything you said today except for le labo I’ve never smelt or heard of this one lol but that Chanel 5 I purchased it as one of my first good perfume and omg it’s sick horrible like I don’t know who would like this even my grandma said it was terrible and my grandma had amazing taste!! Cheers and love from western canada 🇨🇦
Yes, I first discovered this perfume in 2018 and it was SO unique I had to have it. Then all of a sudden 2020 I smell it everywhere, I live in LA and its EVERYWHERE!
Omg I can't believe you mentioned Gucci Rush!!!!! It's been discontinued for years and it's one of my two signature scents. I got my first box when I was 17 and I just turned 40. I was really not expecting you to come for ME lol!!!
As a man I actually wear Angel and mix it with Tom Ford vanilla oud or jimmy choo Satin Oud. It mixes well with other fragrances of you like layering. ❤
I love this video. I absolutely hate Chanel No. 5 and Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue. I don't like to wear fragrances that everyone else is wearing. I actually remember when Angel first came out in the 90s and got it at Saks at launch. A month later, EVERYONE had it. I also got Flowerbomb when it first came out and it is SO over. I would love to hear your favorites. I love Louis Vuitton Attapres-Reves. I loved Tom Ford Velvet Orchid but am over it.
This list was hitting everything and as a Le Labo girlie I was waiting for that Santal 33 and she came through YES, absolutely agree all around on this list, no lies were told today
I don’t have any of the perfumes you mentioned but I used to love Chanel #5 the eau de toilette version. Much lighter than than the perfume and not so “old” smelling if you will. My taste in perfume is so particular and my nose is so sensitive that it takes me forever to find something I truly like that won’t make me nauseous or give me a headache. I’m a big fan of Guerlain L’art & La Matiere Collection in particular Cuir Beluga, this is my signature perfume and one spray is all it takes. On occasion I will use my Tom Ford Lost Cherry ( usually don’t like sweet perfumes) but imo this one is intoxicating to me, can’t get enough for some reason 🤷♀️It’s amazing how subjective perfume is and I love to see other peoples preferences 😊
Don't know the smell of all of them, but definitely agree with chanel no5. Anything very sweet I also hate (never tried the prada one, just because of the name), which is basically most paco rabanne and JPG (although one of my favourite perfumes is JPG is Madame! I'm on the last bottle, they don't make it anymore). Flowerbomb I'm OK with, but I get that it's too wide spread.
Chanel #5 always smelled like cat urine… lol I think when they made this it must have been a joke.. these women will even buy cat urine if it’s bottled.
This made me laugh. I love Chanel 5 but I love the original coco even more. Now that one hundred percent gives rich old lady at the Ritz vibes and I’m here for that. I used to adore Angel. That was THE fragrance when I was in my youth but I don’t like it now. But Angel is probably the most unique scent ever created so kudos for that.
I have allergies and had not worm parfume for a while. But Prada Candy was the only one in the department store that I could tolerate. I had been wearing Victoria’s Secret fragrance for years too. Now I like clean scents, Good Girl, Maison Louis Marie 13 and Valentino Coral.
Chanel No 5 is an awful fragrance. I’ve never been a fan of Chanel scents other than Chanel Chance. Baccarat Rouge smells like a dental surgery or burned sugar to me.
Absolutely agree with you on the ones I have (baccarat, flower bomb). Angel has always given me a headache and chanel 5 was gross from the first time I was unfortunate enough to smell it. Would love a video on your favorite perfumes! .
I have been buying small bottles because I know I wo t finish. I learned this years ago w a beautiful Creed fragrance. Chanel use to have #22 and it smelled lovely. It was discontinued.
Worst fragrance ever for me: LVEB, along with all its horrendous flankers. I tried it, wanting to love it but…. To my nose it smells like underage girls throwing up sweet cocktails into a dirty cat box. After hours of scrubbing my wrists, I could still smell sweet, cat pee. When someone wearing it passes me, I have to flee. I feel about LVEB the way you feel about No5. The others on your list, I agree with you wholeheartedly, esp Gucci Rush. 🤮
Which sol de Janeiro smells like the popular one? I love the soul de Janeiro 62 body mist and lotuon but the actual perfume smells completely different and its gross!! Omg the Chanel No 5 is TERRIBLE!! So glad someone else finally said it. I sprayed it once in store and it must have gotten on me, I got home and my kids both said I smelt like a gross old lady. I couldn’t get it off!! 😂
I am very new to fragrances, baccarat is my dream! I never had the chance to smell le labo, chanel n 5 sadly gives me headache ( love mademoiselle), I dislike and all the others I would love to have in my collection, no offense at all, Perdue is very subjective, our olfactory sense is the most spiritual of them all! That is why we hardly smell in our dreams because takes a higher level of spiritual growth and refinement, best wishes always!
Chanel #5 is awful. I'm not sure who is even is wearing that mess. it's so played out! Prada candy is just childish. Share with us your personal fragrances for sure. I despise light blue! It's smells like household cleaner 😅
I actually think Chanel’s other perfumes smell pretty nice so it’s weird how no 5 just smells so awful. I rarely wear perfume because scents just get old to me. At first I like the smell then over time the scent doesn’t smell as good. The only one I have is a travel size of Chloe nomad
