My stepdad had a serious medical emergency at Disney and the cast members and paramedics were just wonderful. My mom went with my stepdad to the emergency room and I was left alone to take care of my 3 younger sisters. The staff were sure to provide my sisters and I with everything we needed and made sure we were okay (it was pretty traumatic and we saw him in serious medical distress- we thought he was going to die.) They comforted my youngest sister who saw it all happen, one cast member even ran to the nearest gift shop to get her a toy and water bottles as she was crying. It was so sweet. The next day, cast members left tons of Disney merch in our room as a surprise for my younger sisters. Backpacks full of toys, snacks, water, colouring books, etc. It was SUCH an amazing gesture and helped to brighten up my sisters trip. They also provided my mom with taxi vouchers for free taxi rides to and from the hospital to visit my stepdad. I was so impressed with the Disney cast members! They made a really crappy situation a little bit better for our family and I’m so thankful.

I teared up watching this video, especially the last section. I was in Orlando for a veterinary conference and stayed a few extra days to visit Disney World, and I was on my way from the ferry to the entrance to Magic Kingdom when I returned a call from my mom and found out my dad had passed away. A cast member spotted me crying and took me to a private area, got me water and kleenex, and when I was ready made sure I had the airline numbers and my phone was charged so I could reschedule my flight home. They gave me a code I could use to claim the remaining three days on my parks ticket, any time in the next year. I just wish I had noted the name of the cast member who helped me, so I could thank her publicly! Anyone who experiences a loss like that with kids along, never underestimate the power of a big stuffed animal to hug! I'm a grown woman and a professional, but I wound up hugging a stuffed cat I got at the conference for most of the flight home. I still have it, and have been known to hug it when I miss my dad. I promised myself I would **not** let that experience ruin Disney for me! WDW was the last trip we took together as a family, all of us together, and I didn't want to let the bad outweigh the good. That summer, my sister and I went to the Wizarding World together, and I arranged to stay an extra three days to use the rest of my ticket. I got a little teary entering the Magic Kingdom, but it was a wonderful visit, and I accidentally wound up being there for opening day of Pandora, one more thing to make the trip extra-special! If you're going to have bad things happen, there are definitely much worse places than Disney World! They'll take good care of you.

That happened to my wife and I in 2019. We got a call while standing in line for rise of the Resistance that my mother-in-law passed away. We weren't terribly surprised, she was in hospice with pancreatic cancer. I stayed in line and enjoyed the ride, but it took another two years before my wife was able to get a boarding pass. Bummer.

I will never forget my first trip to Disney. The trip was booked through Eastern Airlines (that's how long ago it was). The week before the trip my Dad called Eastern to check on everything and it was all cancelled. He flipped. He ended up calling Disney and they saved us. It was amazing. They fixed everything, apologized about it the whole time even though it was Eastern's fault, and literally saved our whole vacation. My dad wrote a letter to Eastern and told them they lost their wings that day (that was their ad at the time "We earn our wings every day").

As a former Cast Member, I had to deal with a lost parent at Fantasmic in the summer of '07. I will say this, finding a child with lost parents is frightening for both the Cast Member and the family. It is even worse when it is a big show like Fantasmic and the show is letting out. Things sis work out for the best because I remembered my training. Get down to the child's level to talk to them, ask them where they last saw their parent, ask if they had a stroller, and DO NOT leave the child alone with ANYONE until you confirm that is their parent or guardian. I've posted this story in a few other videos on this channel, but I'll just say we found Daddy and her brother at stroller parking. I then had to go find mommy. Helping a scared kid find their parents is a great feeling, and I am just glad I found her first and not someone else.

I can’t express this enough: please please PLEASE drink water! Stay hydrated, get out of the heat, and rest during those hot days at the parks. Fainting in a line queue is not fun (trust me I know haha). But if you do, know that the paramedics and cast members are angels when it comes to that sort of thing. They gave me a wheelchair for free and some power aide. I felt very well taken care of!

SO true. I tried to prep for my vacation to Universal by making sure to stop by a water fountain and take a few big gulps of water. Then I did it again after lunchtime. You'd be surprised how easily you can sweat off a pound or two just walking around and standing in line... Now if Wizarding Britain existed, Hermione would just wave her wand and say "aguamenti!" and it would spray a small fountain of water. :D

Growing up here and with years of going the worst experience was way back when space mountain was an E ticket and my safety belt came undone. My uncle is a big guy i was seated right in front of him so he literally just held me close to him. There were guys at the end who made a big fuss and gave us a ton of E tickets but I was dizzy and ill for the rest of the day and my mom (who was waiting for us) had to tell my uncle to stop re-enacting me going up into the air and him pulling me down because she and I didn’t see the humor in it like he did.

I had something similar happen to me at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City in about 1984, when I was about 11. There was a roller coaster called The Scream, I believe. It was a simple coaster, but had 3 loops, if I’m remembering correctly. When I pulled down my restraint over my head, it didn’t click or lock. We yelled at the attendant, but he didn’t notice. Talk about my mom and I freaking out. With each loop my restraint swung upside down. My mom did her best to hold me while she was restrained, and I held her as tight as I could. Luckily, the g force helped hold me in place. When it was over I almost passed out from anxiety. My parents had it out with the attendants. We got a lame apology. The park was lucky my parents accepted it. From that day forward, my parents never insisted I ride the coasters if I didn’t want to. Crazy thing is, I believe about a year later a woman died there on a standup coaster.

@veronicajude 3 года назад
@@danip3270 you were so lucky!!! Thank god I didn’t have to go upside down, I think I would have probably thrown up and passed out simultaneously! It was about ten years before I could try space mountain again and I still check the straps and constraints like crazy every single time I go on a ride.

@UmmYeahOk
@UmmYeahOk 3 года назад
@@veronicajude don’t ever ride Space Mountain at Euro Disney. There are loops and inversions. I only rode it because my mom swore I loved it when we went to Anaheim when I was 3. There is no way they would ever let a three year old ride this! And there is not a lap belt. There is a full on harness that goes over you. When they lowered it, I was really freaking out because that’s the type of harness they use for serious hard core coasters. When the ride was over, I had trouble getting out. I was disoriented. I found one of my earrings in my hair. I felt like a boxer had punched me several times in the head and I managed to locate a bench a few feet from the ride cars. I sat there for like ten minutes trying to feel better, worried that a cast member might try to help me, seeing that I was crying. I’m glad they left me alone because I did not speak French. But I was also worried that I might have to go to the ER or something. DLRP is pretty good about making things accessible for English speakers, but the fear is still there.

We went this past August and had an amazing 10 day trip...on the 7th day, we were at MK and none of our bands would work 😔 after almost 2 hours on the phone with the contemporary front desk, they figured out that the card connected to the room (which apparently was paying for dining reservations) was different than the card connected for quick service. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The sweet man at the contemporary worked very hard to get it all sorted out and figure out what was happening. He kept insisting I had to be handing someone a card at the quick service restaurants and I was getting very upset and explained I have not pulled out a credit card the entire trip so far. After finally figuring out it was a computer glitch that had not deleted the card I originally used to book the room, he profusely apologized, quickly deleted that info, moved everything to the correct card that I had originally linked to the bands, and gave us $150 credit for the 2+ hours we spent on the phone in MK trying to resolve the issue. Disney employees really do care that people enjoy their full vacation. ❤️

On a Disney Cruise: My dad and I were getting off the boat for our excursion and he realized he was missing his key to the world card (like a magic band). Our excursion was going to leave soon and I was a minor so I couldn’t get off the boat. Well he dumped out his bag and the crew members told him to run to the front desk. He did and they printed him a new one in 3 minutes!!! He was able to come back and they let him skip the line so we could get off the ship. It was so nerve wracking in moment but looking back the cast members handled it so well!!

Then the resort cast members was just amazing getting back to the room as i was at the back of the resort too. The checked every step of the way if i need medical help or what meds they could get me. They even called to checked in in the morning with us to see if i was ok. Also we found out when we went in to leave a compliment for the resort cast member that pushed me all the way to my room and commandeering a wheel chair for me that it goes in to there files and helps with promotions and i think pay raises. After years of his generosity towards me and others, I brought my friend (Club 33 member) to WDW as a bucket list item. He couldn't walk very well so we rented a scooter. The cast members at Animal Kingdom refused to grant him DAK pass so he had to move that thing through some very crowded lines. In Flight of Passage he probably caused more injuries to others by accidentally running into them, and was often unable to make the 7-point turn needed to "walk" around right bends in the line. How hard would it have been to just say "come back at this time"? Its not like he was unwilling to wait his turn. All I can think about were those poor people he kept running into. I spent a lot of time apologizing to others. The next day we went to Hollywood Studios and just before we got on Tower of Terror he collapsed. He was rushed to an ICU in Ocoee, FL where we learned he was bleeding internally. After several days in the ICU he made it home and is still with us but the severity of his condition wasn't known. He almost finished his bucket list on Tower of Terror. I'm still upset that they couldn't grant him a DAK pass at AK. It's not like he was faking an illness just to get to the front. He was happy to wait. ...all those people he ran into. Geez. Weekend at Bernie's, only he was still half there.

We had a water pipe break while on a DCL cruise. Our son sent 2 days drying out our home and Disney refunded 2 days of our trip then provided transportation for our son to fly to Orlando to drive us home. While on a DCL CRUISE , my husband went into heart failure and Disney kicked right in. The medical staff was wonderful and the doctors did everything just like his doctors at home would. When we arrived back at port , the ambulance was there to take him to Port Canaveral Hospital and a Disney representative drove me and our bags to the hospital. Disney delivered meals to me 3 times a day and 3 days later when he was released , Disney sent a driver to take us to our parking lot to get our car. The driver loaded up at the hospital and transferred everything to the car and waited until we drove out of the lot before leaving. It’s only 1.5 hours home so , I wasn’t concerned about that but was surprised when Guest Services called everyday for a week checking up on him. DCL AND THE CREW WERE OUTSTANDING.

I remember last January it was my first trip alone with my big sister (I was 19 she was 22) and she twisted her ankle 1-2 weeks before our trip, so we rented a wheelchair at our drugstore back home, the pass for people in wheelchair really helped us and we really appreciated it. Our hardest day was at Epcot when we decided to have breakfast in Paris and since we are French Canadians we could speak French with the staff so it was fun, but when it was time to use a meal of our dining plan they said that we didn't have any meals left, when we were only at the half of our trip and we knew it was a mistake or a glitch. They said that they couldn't help us???At first I panicked because I had passed so much time preparing our trip and I was crying in a corner like a baby(I was really stressed haha) So I tried to get in contact with the hotel and after 1h30min the problem was resolved and we could finally eat our not that good breakfast:( After that, during the day, we decided that we could try to find a place at the French restaurant for the evening, but it was full (as we were expecting) but suddenly we found a place at 8pm! Yay! We left our wheelchair near the entrance like everyone did. Our Waiter was nice and we could speak French with him, but oh wow it was all rushed as if we were late or something! I hadn't even finished my appetizer that my meal was on the table??? We were rushed to finish our meal I guess because the park was closing at 9pm but then why was there a reservation offer at this hour??? Anyway, we get out of the restaurant to find out that our wheelchair had disappeared :D The park was closed and my sister could not walk very well, and after giving a description of our chair at the gift store because the guest service was closed at this entrance, they gave us a wheelchair so we could get at the guest service at the other end of the park. When we got there the park was almost empty and it was really late, but the staff tried their best to help us. When we were bout to get back at our hotel they told us that they had found our wheelchair!yay! The staff member gave us a free ice-cream coupon and we went to our hotel. I know I shouldn't be too hard on that day, but I worked so hard for this trip and this left me feeling helpless for something that could have gone right. If you red this to the end I just want to specify that I loved my trip in general and that I remember all the good things that happened, but this day left a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm a server who has worked in the food industry for a decade, and I come from a family who have all worked in restaurants. I haaaaaaaaate when a server rushes you during your meal. That pisses me off so much. It doesn't matter if you're going to be closing soon; that doesn't change the amount of money that the guest is spending; they still deserve a proper experience (and the park closes at 9:00PM and you got there at 8:00PM? So you were there an hour before close? They can piss off). You have every right to be mad about that, especially when you consider how expensive it is to eat in a restaurant, particularly a Disney restaurant.

I've pretty much had all of these things happen to those in my party and myself, the biggest one that keeps happening though: panic attacks. Caused by various different reasons from new parks to back home issues, but each time was different. Especially for those who experience them often and kind of know how to hide them. One time, my friend and I searched Disneyland for an hour trying to find our other friend who had a panic attack in the corner of a store, cast members found her, and she was taken to first aid. We knew her history with these, so on a whim decided to check first aid and luckily she was there and was feeling better. So it also helps to know who you are traveling with in case you are adults who get separated.

I really appreciate this video I think it’s so important to have these things in mind when traveling Disney was amazing to me when I got sick I had an allergic reaction & couldn’t breathe in the middle of the night at the resort. The manager at the Beach club came up to the room and carried me down to the ambulance! Disney paid for my medicine and ambulance ride to and from the hospital. They also gave us a refund for that night on our reservation at the hotel. This is something I will never forget and why I value disney customer service so much!
@mrmagicmph
@mrmagicmph 3 года назад
@Mak I completely understand, & it's "funny" that you were at the Beach Club, that's where my story occurred. I was staying at the Beach Club with my fiancé in one room, and my parents and brother in another room (connecting). Around 1-2AM, my mom pounds on the connecting door saying that we have to go to the hospital RIGHT NOW for my dad. He'd had colon cancer and was recovering very well, but all of a sudden (several months after that is) he was suddenly very ill. Now, my dad was a physician and I was a paramedic. Of course, that means especially to him, NO AMBULANCE! I called down to the front desk and told them what was going on and that we needed our car brought around RIGHT NOW (we'd used valet parking) and that I needed directions to the hospital. The CM on duty at the front desk could not have been better. At that hour of the night, there weren't a lot of CMs on duty. She sent the only other CM that was around to go get the car while she grabbed a wheelchair and RAN with it up to our room. We took dad to the ER and they kept him there for much of the night before sending him back to the hotel. He was completely unable to continue touring the parks, but, we didn't have to leave (good thing too, we ended up having to actually extend our stay simply because of a major blizzard hitting the NY area when we were due to return, had to stay about 2-3 extra days and came back to enough snow in our driveway to be above my belt line!). Dad insisted that we continue to tour the parks (was probably the 12th or so trip I'd been on to the park by that time). However, the Mousekeepers couldn't have been more wonderful. Every day, they sent up Chicken Soup from Beaches 'N Cream which helped A LOT in getting him through it all. All in all, there's no GOOD place to have a major medical emergency, but, if you have to do it and you're away from home, there's nowhere I'd trust to help me more than WDW, especially the Beach Club.

My mom is a nurse and is basically a walking pharmacy whenever we go to Disney because anything and everything can happen a Disney. For example I had a allergic reaction at one of the England restaurant and my mom gave me Benadryl. BTW walking around Epcot doped up on Benadryl was not a fun experience. They called the parent number on the back and we got the babies back within minutes. I have also gotten into the habit of writing the phone number on the inside of their shoes to identify them. I called on regular basis to adjust my vacation. I always had them read off to confirm everything each time. It was a 10 day campground reservation with the dining plan for each day. It turns out that the last day didn't include the dining plan somehow, the left overs from the day prior expired & for everywhere we went & asked for meal plan & snack no one said that we didn't have the plan. That day we were at Hollywood Studios & spent hours on the phone at guest services while they blamed me for the mistake. I took a deep breath& ended the call & told us all we weren't going to let this ruin our last day. The next day after Disney I called guest services... They made it all right by reimbursing all we paid out of pocket & more!

Years ago my cousin and I stayed at the Carribbean Beach. When we checked in, they did not have a 2 bedded room for us as we had made reservations for. I thought this was especially strange since according to the "official guide" all the rooms at this hotel had 2 beds. They finally found one for us, after a long wait. It turned out to have a malfunctioning toilet and a broken radio. The next day we went to the park, and expected those problems to be fixed by the time we returned. When we came back to the hotel, we could not get into our room. This was before cell phones, so we had to find a place to call the front desk, and let them know. They told us to wait outside our room, and someone would come to let us in. We stood around, waiting, exhausted from our day at the Magic Kingdom, and someone finally came to let us in. They said we should not go to the park the next day until the locksmith came and fixed the lock, and gave us new keys. So we spent half the next day hanging out in our room before the locksmith arrived to fix the lock.(And the toilet and radio had not been repaired.) Finally, he came, and we got to go to the park. When we came back that night, we could not get into our room, again. We knew where we could call the front desk this time, so there we went, to report this problem. They told us to wait again outside our room. At length someone came to let us in. The following day we again had to waste several hours hanging out in our room, waiting for the locksmith to return. After he gave us new keys, he promised that the problem was fixed and would not happen again. So, keys in hand, we were able to go to the park. This time, when we returned, we found our room door open! We were shocked, but nothing seemed to have been stolen. We called the front desk to complain, and of course, they apologized. The next day there was a bouquet of flowers in our room when we returned from the park, and one night of the hotel bill was subtracted from our total due. The toilet and radio were now fixed. We were glad, but still felt cheated out of the blissful vacation we had been expecting.

My dad was poorly while we were in Orlando a few years ago. He's dreadful with medical things so my mum went with him to the hospital on the first night and visited him quite regularly. The hotel staff were obviously very helpful getting him the medical attention he needed but they also looked after me while I was alone. They could easily have seen me as just another young woman in a big hotel and leave me to it but they saw someone who was alone and worried in a different country and took care of me. One night the waitress even sat down and joined me for a chat while I had dinner and then checked on me at breakfast the next day when my mum was back. Once my dad was better and out of hospital they continued to check we were all ok and even kept offering my dad soup. Not that you want soup in the Florida weather! But they were all lovely! My dad's fully recovered but still scared of medical things. Bless him! One day we'll go back to the parks and make up for the missed adventures.

I was going to let my wife go on ahead and I'd drive home (2 hour round trip), get my passport, and take a later flight. I decided to just ask TSA what we could do. They accepted two forms of ID, one with a picture. Then I was given the most detailed interview and thorough search (REALLY! Do I know you!) I've ever had. It took time, but I got through TSA. Then I had to repeat the process in LA on the way back to Utah. If you've lost or forgotten your ID, all is not lost. Ask and TSA may be able to help.

But Disney helped us on the phone over months and at Guest Relations since they were using our personal tickets instead of the one day band tickets!

House fire while at WDW - one time I feared this exact thing might’ve happened to my cousin. I was driving near his house and saw a massive smoke coming from his neighborhood, so I ended up driving to his house fearing the worst, wondering what I should do, call 911, my mom, them? Turns out it was behind their neighborhood, and I can only assume everything was fine, but for a few minutes there... ...yikes! I have also been known to leave the space heater on during the morning of our WDW flight!

I’ve had an ear infection for at least three of my trips to Disney world and i’ve gone to urgent care each time. It was not fun and I got it from swimming underwater at the pools and water parks haha.

I'm sorry to hear that, this used to happen to me to all the time, every vacation I'd have to find a doctor to get a prescription for antibiotics. Then, when it happened in Dubai, and I couldn't get a drs appt for a couple days, I had an auyurvedic treatment when they poured hot oil in my ears. Never had another ear infection since, and that was 12 years ago!

I love how the video for these "tips" posts are just a lot of unrelated B-roll.
