It's impossible to post something violent on RU-vid nowadays in order to not traumatize young viewers. You ask me, how do you make a video about the most brutal war in american history? With the numerous restrictions from the platform. And when I say numerous, I mean I have to censor most of the images. This is the world we are living in, folks. If you want to see the full version, follow the link in the description to my Patreon. You can watch the Gettysburg video for free. As for Antietam, it would cost less than your daily cup of coffee to watch this video. But that money will motivate me to keep improving the quality of my videos. Thank you for your understanding

Yeah they always put a graphic description on things as it would be too shocking for young people to see, but have more graphic images in video games they play or movies or TV series that are watched like the Walking dead and others that have heads cut off ,blood gushing from stumps, zombies ripping out chunks of flesh from their human victims,

I remember years ago a farmer in Sharpsburg found two soldiers buried in a patch of woods near where the Irish Brigade fought. The skeletons were wearing Miraculous Medals so they had a Catholic funeral Mass in the old Latin and given a full military funeral.

I have a first hand account of what you are stating. That farmer was Mr Miller of the Roulette farm, Bloody Lane. My father was a personal friend of Mr Miller. We, my father, 3 brothers and myself had the distinct pleasure of metal detecting the farm in the early 70's. Mr Miller told my father that each time he plows, disks or hares an area of the farm, it sounds hollow and very different. I was standing right there when he told my dad. I was about 11 years old. Mr Miller said he thought there were graves at that location. We discussed the scenario. We made a moral and ethical decision not to dig or disturb that area at all. Years passed and a person from Ohio came to the farm, he detected also. Mr Miller must have mentioned it to him. He went to the spot and dug those men up. It was 3 men, thought to be of the Irish brigade. After he took what he wanted, Gold crucifix, buttons bullets etc, he notified the park service. They came in and did a archeological dig. Apparently they did research on the bones that were there. One soldier was 37, I believe, one was struck by 7 projectiles. The others were young, I don't know those details so I won't speak on it. The Ohio guy was looking for fame I guess, the park service and him couldn't come to a agreement about putting an exhibit in the museum with his claim to fame. I know for a fact, when that guy dug them up he took bones from the grave site and gave them to Mr Miller in a gallon zip lock bag. I saw them years later when I visited Mr Miller before he passed. The farm was in a Federal easement and is part of the national park now.

@mrfugazi6713 I spent many great days in the early 1970's in the cornfields and hay fields of Antietam. Sunken Lane, Burnside Bridge, Monocacy and South Mountain! We had 2 detectors, well one at first, it was switched off between my Dad and oldest brother. I would help dig and just tag along. Then my Dad bought a Fisher and it was a great machine, simple easy to run. So I got to do some detecting while they were eating lunch or taking a breather. I can tell you when you are in the corn on a hot summer day, that corn being 10 ft. tall became like you were in a hallway in the rows of corn. You could only see down the row and about 3 rows over between the corn stalks, so not much. There were times and we all experiencd it a feeling of someone being near a sort of presence. The wind would blow and you swear someone just went t by you. It didn't happen all the time but mostly at the Sunken Lane. We all talked about those feelings riding home or at the dinner table. It wasn't a bad feeling for me, so many lost their lives there. I respect all the men both sides for such bravery. It's hard to imagine, many days being there I thought about what sacrifice was given not just there but during the whole war and every war. .

Unfortunately, D.H. Hill is a lesser spoken of Confederate general due to his political differences with many leaders of the Confederacy including Gen. Lee and Pres. @@jacobriggs7483 Malvern Hill was one example where D.H. Hill's mind differed from Lee's. D.H. Hill can be quoted saying "if Gen. McClellan is there in force, we had better let him alone". This was referring to the extremely strong position which the Union troops held. Nevertheless, Lee ordered the attack which ultimately led to massive Confederate losses, many of which were D.H. Hill's men.

@dantehill4748 Lee was always on the offensive. It served him well in the early years, before the union really got its shit together. After that it wasn't such a good idea. He was totally right. Should have let it be. It was murder.. plain n simple. He took advice from Jackson. Never dig in. Never hold ground. Always advance and push the enemy. Doing this, a small force shall overcome a large force every time.. that only works if the force doesn't consist of over 100,000.....

The pictures of Federal soldiers on burial detail after the battle are fascinating to me. You see veterans with very deeply tanned faces, lean and sinewy with an overall worn look. I could hear them and their very dark sense of humor making jokes over dead Confederates with the ages old 'better him than me' sentiment. They were also the ones strong enough to survive bad food and water, deadly camps, mortifying combat, and march 25 miles day.

My Great Grandfather, a Private in the Illinois Infantry, was seriously wounded at Corinth MS in May 1862. His medical disharge stated that "With partial loss of right hand, no longer able to fire a musket...disability 25%" He returned home to Illinois to recover. By mid 1863 he recovered sufficiently to re-enlist in the Illinois Cavalry as a Scout. He then saw the War until its' end. He married after the War, had 9 boys, my Grandfather who was the youngest. I disagree with the idea that Civil War tactics were unwise. Quite a few generals were highly intelligent and competent, so why would they keep doing that? Because accuracy was not the issue, rather, the rate of fire was too slow. Imagine spreading your men out in order to reduce your casualties, and then being attacked by a concentrated force of the enemy. No way the soldiers could fire fast enough to repel the attack. The same principle holds true for the attackers. The only way increase the rate of fire was to concentrate the guns in a compact mass. Tough on the soldiers for sure, but the idea was to win, not to reduce casualties. Fast loading repeating rifles were the only solution. The M16 uses much smaller bullets with much less knockdown power than the mini ball, but is a much more effective rifle because of the high rate of fire.

This is probably the stupidest documentary about war wounds that I have ever seen. If I make a documentation about something specific, then I also show what the documentation is about. I film animals, then I show them. If I film stones, then you can see them too. If I make a documentary about stars, then it will be a little more difficult because I need a telescope. But I show the stars that I was able to capture with the camera. But what I see here in this crap are pixelated images that show nothing of what this is actually supposed to be about. For example at 5:10. Here you see a man who has two black spots on one body, front and back. But the speaker grandly tells us what these wounds look like. When I'm told what something looks like, I damn well want to see what they're talking about. In short, this documentary is constructed in absolutely shitty fashion and misses its actual point. And then it is written as an excuse: With the numerous restrictions on the platform......Bla Bla Bla .... Why make such a documentary at all if you expect numerous restrictions in advance. Waste of time, and for that there is a thumbs down and NO subscription.🤬🤬

Why censor paintings and pictures? Above all paintings of injuries. Totally unnecessary, when it comes to 152 year old pictures. just watch today's news, to see fresh injuries and casualties !!

Yeah, I'm kinda done with this. I don't know rather to blame RU-vid's over reaching censorship policies or the content creators for erring way too far on the side of caution, but lets reflect here. This is a video titled "The Worst Wounds From The Battle of Antietam". It's a historical documentary.. and every visual representation of the injuries are blurred or blacked out, making the entire video useless to its original intent. To the creators - grow some balls or stop posting videos like this. It just makes you look ridiculous. Cowards.

Great video. Can I suggest that we stop calling teenagers men? It washes over the horrors of war.

Maynard's grave says 1848-1919....do the math yourself. Whip out your calculator. Not sure why narrator said he was 63. Someone doesnt do math or check facts very well.

Poor documentary with little information except for some lurid title. Many paintings und clips are falsely placed on top.

Making an educational video but not showing what the video is about. At the same time you can watch nearly live close combat in Ukraine. Weird.

What’s the point of labelling your video, the worst wounds and then covering every image up??
