Congratulations to Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer for winning the Writer's Guild of Great Britain award!
The concept for the Awards was originally devised and produced by British TV legend, Michael Hurll to promote homegrown comedy talent. The original show was presented by Michael Parkinson and winners included VICTORIA WOOD as Best Live Stand-up, PAULINE QUIRKE as Best TV Comedy Newcomer, and DROP THE DEAD DONKEY as the Best New TV Comedy. Other winners included RUSS ABBOTT, CLIVE JAMES & ROWAN ATKINSON.

About time Vic and Bob were recognised for there writing, they should be up for a lifetime achievement award as well!

I think they were always more appreciated by fellow comedians, than the public at large. Wish they could've made their mark in the US, the same way Monty Python did...So they'd have the same lasting legacy and a greater breadth of work. I'd give my right bollock for another series or 2 of Shooting Stars. Massively influential; totally unique and criminally underappreciated, comedy gods! 👍
