I just got my acceptance letter from Michigan today. So excited! Wanted to go back to this video that showed me the spirit of U-M when I was first applying.
Congrats! That’s not an easy task. Do big things! Although I wasn’t able to get in, I still love and respect this school, this state, and the community of SE Michigan. GO BLUE!!!
This concert was the Junior year of my Son, who was lucky enough to be selected as a Tenor for all 4 years to Club of his undergrad career. This I can honestly say was THE BEST experience my Son had while at Michigan. He was elected small groups manager and coordinated "Record Sings" at home football games. This is where clubbers would go from Tail Gate to Tail Gate singing M Songs of yester year and of course Varsity and the Victors! He toured the U.S. North South East and West with Club on Spring Sing Tours. The November Fall Hill Concerts were all Amazing. His Senior Year 2011 the MMGC received special authorization from the Department of Treasury, to travel to Cuba on a Music Enrichment Waiver. This was before the U.S. had normalized relations with Cuba. This MMGC experience was an Education in itself, over and above his studies in Pure Mathematics and Honors Economics Dual Major. For Today Congratulations, For Tomorrow Good Luck and Forever GO BLUE! Graduation April 30th 2011!!!
I was at this show!! I had given a donation to the glee club (it wasn't much, just enough to get a singer a tux) and got a wonderful letter from the glee club thanking me. We made a point to get tickets and be in Ann Arbor for this performance. We sat at the rear of the main floor and the sound was just rich and overwhelming. Being a hardcore Michigan fan this gave me major goosebumps, and Hill is a wonderful venue. GO BLUE!!!
This was my lifelong dream- I did not do enough to be accepted. Going to UM is a great honor, and a sign of a strong individual. Do great things- GO BLUE!
Could someone post the lyrics for the third verse, please? I've found two versions which seem different (to my memory), and I didn't recognize what the gentleman was singing from the stage. Many thanks! (P.S. My brother sang in this concert, and my father used to sing this-first verse and chorus-to me when I was little. Goosebumps for sure!) 1980-School of Education
UM bachelor's and master's degree graduate Russell Christopher, was in the Men's Glee Club as a soloist, went on to join the Metropolitan Opera in 1963 and performed there for many years. He died in 2014. How wonderful that he could return for this reunion!
@@madeleinebaier5347 I know, right? I first heard this song when I was a junior in high school on a radio program, and fell in love with it!! I wanted to go to U of M, but, quite frankly, didn't pay attention to my school work and grades, so I wasn't accepted!! I still am a fan U of M, and, because Dad had graduated from Michigan State, and Maman had attended U of M, we were definitely a house devided!!
