I'm not defending Islam, but animal doesn't really know what's good for them. Like human animal mostly prefers things they used to get. Water around world aren't exactly same, there is lot more things other than H20 in drinking water (In fact drinking Deionized/Pure water is not good for body and will kills your taste buds), in most water we drink there are minerals contained , each location has their own mineral contents, that mineral contents are the thing gives water its unique taste.

Animals know much better, what's good for them, than humans! The exception are usually pets. Why? Because there is a huge industry for animal food, which is cheating the pets by artificial taste or smell. The minerals in water (mineral water) are inorganic and cannot be used up by the body. Therefore they are stored somewhere causing Alzheimer, gout, rheumatism and Parkinson's disease. If you want organic minerals, stay with fruits and vegetables. (I don't say, become vegetarian!)
