As a new player, I see a lot of other players rave about the 30R saying they don't know why it's not more popular. A player gave an answer in a forum I was reading yesterday: it doesn't have missions to justify getting it early on. You can get by and do plenty with other calibers and styles of guns. Like the .300 win mag which seems to be the best all around heavy hitter for medium to large game with missions, and you get to use the scope that you start with which saves you over 5k for a few missions until you can save up for a way better scope. Or you can do what I did and get the scope first for those longshot missions on whitetail with the old .243
@@jangleleg117 Yeah, I must say that the .30R is my favourite weapon in the game (also for me it is perfect to run on Redfeather Falls since every animal is ethical to shoot), but indeed it should not be bought when starting the game, the reduced species list makes it not as useful as like the 9.3x74R. I picked the .300 for that reason in this list the free scope is a nice bonus advantage in the start.
@@S1343THC I will have to check out a full review of the over unders when I go to Redfeather Falls. I was totally planning on the .300 all week but I really liked the Anschutz .308, I love the cartridge in real life, and there are a few .308/Anschutz missions I have for it already. I felt the .300 would spoil me way too much and I want to focus on good shot placement and such for now and still work towards the .300 and lots of guns. I was thinking .30-06 for my next rifle. I love the look of the '06 and 45-70 lever guns and owned a 30-30 and .357 lever guns years ago but I may just go ahead and grab a big game rifle now that I have the .308 for deer, goats, boar and such. I'd only use it on a moose if I had to, I wouldn't consider the .308 a big game cartridge at all in real life but it's a fantastic man stopper in the military so deer is no problem. But the first animal I shot with the Anschutz was a male brown bear on Val-Des-Bois. I instantly slumped him with a lung and heart shot from over 100 meters with iron sights lol. I was extremely impressed with the round and rifle immediately, and right after that, instantly dropped a huge red deer that got me 2nd in a competition. I believe that one was a heart shot. First red deer ever too.
@@S1343THC I'm definitely grabbing a 30 R O/U soon. I was looking at it in the store today and just realized it can use my Anschutz scope which is the only one I've bought so far lol
Nice vid. I just started really playing this game. First gun I got was the reverse draw crossbow with a rangefinder. It's pretty cool. I'm probably gonna get the anschutz 1780 next, just preference. Might go .300 because of the 4x32 scope tho.
bruhhhh dropping any big game with a rifle is a game changer but at the same time I need tents and calls to utilize it right, and atp just go reverse draw crossbow freak mode fully
I've barely bough anything yet, but I'm saving up for a 16GA/9.3x74R Drilling Combination Gun. I assume it's a good idea in order to carry a single gun that can hunt everything, since my carrying capacity is quite limited. Maybe I'll add a reverse-draw X-bow later so I have a heavy, loud, long distance option, and a light, silent, close-distance option against all species. Would that work?
@@Rodrigo_Vega Yeah, sounds good. The weapon is a bit heavier than normal weapons, but you should be fine. Afterwards when you level up and gain more inventory space, you should be set.
@@S1343THC Maybe I should do the math and figure out if the lighter weight of the crossbow compared to the starting shotgun, makes up for the heavier weight of the combination gun compared to the starting rifle so that I can carry them both together? I'm just assuming I'll be able to do it xD
1.12 GA kill Bison Banteng and Water Buffalo but will be disqualification 2.Snakebute I agree and can kill a lot of animals without spook 3.7mm Magnum I use but Single Shot. Good rifle but Reload every Shot XD 4.300 Good Rifle but not so fast 5. 9.3x74r Have After 120M Bullet drop (I use Drilling but Worth) The most I use 30R Break Action because quick shots and no Bullet Drop
I mean fair enough, but for me as a beginner? I got the Kar98K and eventually moved up to having a .340 also. Both guns are amazing to shoot and you can get the hang of it pretty quickly. The Mauser is a tad irritating with a limited zoom scope and single post 'German' reticule and has a lot of drop at long range but for most stuff it's a good all rounder. The .340 of course has amazing range with little drop for big game. Sure none of the ammo is free, but they're worth it. For birds, I went straight for the .22.
Sure, everyone has a different style of playing the game and if you prefer a little challenge then yeah go for the K98k (or some other classic weapons) as for the .340, it is a great weapon I agree but the limited species it can shoot consists of large game. Lack of space is also a problem when starting the game (I don't remember the score limits when you unlock more space, also I know .300 takes up quite a lot of space but I'd say it's a great all arounder aswell with a free scope), as for the .22 if were talking pistol then no problem with that, but if we're talking about the rifle, I'd just pick the .17HMR instead. Hopefully this was understandable and have a great day!
@@S1343THC And The weapons @rhysmodica2892 mentioned only have very few to no missions that require them. To each their own, for sure, we can play however we want to and get whatever weapons we want for whatever reason but if we want to progress through the missions it's a good idea to focus on getting the weapons a lot of missions require.
I got the k98 to start. I was regretting it for a bit, the Stutzen can mount a 10 times. But you know what its actually an amazing gun really powerful, ive done the whitetail and elk missions in just over a week. Enough money to buy the .300 now. I also have a heavy recurve which is nice.

Nice video 7mm magnum = .300 but 7mm weighs less And no place for .17 HMR? Why? And you dont need 9.3 if you allready have universal rifle as 7mm or .300 You need .340 So my starterpack 7mm bullpup Snakebite .17HMR 12ga Pump .340
Thanks for your comment! I put .300 higher because for the simple reason that you have a scope for free immediatly (an advantage from a beginner's perspective) You have a point there with the 17 so I agree on that, I simply forgot the weapon existed when I made this :D (there will be an improved/larger version of this list in the future) 9.3 because the sheer size of the ethical list, even though 340 is far more powerful (Again we have to think from the perspective of a beginner) hope this comment was somewhat understandable but yeah there will be the improved version at some point. Have a good day!
9x3 is life saver... I wish we can kill redfox with this but sadly jsut coyote and wolf... anyway still so good for every bear, deer, goat, hog and boar also big guys... 9.3×74 is life saver
Sorry for the late response. Easiest way to get money as a beginner would be the mission packs especially the whitetail one. I know that there are some weapon specific missions in that pack but you should be able to find some helping players in the official discord or just hopping into some mp games and asking them. There's bound to be some players out there willing to help, it takes some patience though. Hope this helps and have a nice day.
