To me, creativity is thinking "there's a better way to do this" , that there's a need in society that you can fulfill. Melissa saw the need for better date nights, better planners, podcasts about love, makeup for brown girls,etc. And seeks to fulfill those needs. That's creative. Not being creative would be to not notice a need or to notice and not want to do anything about it.

I Love Watching you guys! The support that KevOnStage shows MrskevOnStage is so wonderful. I completely understand both of you on creativity and do believe that both of you are very much so that. As I watch you I feel like I understand the Bible more. I don't mean to always bring it to a Spiritual level (when I comment) but I have always struggled with understanding the Bible and watching you two helps me understand a lot more things. In your recent show like "R & R" your conversation would make me reflect on some Bible "stuff". This was awesome and funny 😁. It's been so great to see you all grow from the backyard convos to this SOUL touching studio podcast. With that being said, I think Melissa compares herself to other people who she believes is more creative than her and that's why accepting that she is a creative is a hard pill to swallow. Sometimes we over sensationalize the gifts and talents of others that we make our gifts appear small and not important because it's an unfamiliar territory for us. I've done this myself. But when we have people around us to encourage us and show us that we are good at what we do and that we do deserve to have a Seat At the Table then it helps us to come out of out of our cocoon of insecurity so we may become what's already in us. So Melissa you are A Beautiful Butterfly amongst other beautiful butterflies in the garden of CREATIVITY. LOVE Y'ALL. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉

The stereotypical 'creative' is passionate and extroverted, bursting with brilliance while wearing ridiculous outfits. Many creative people have those qualities, but a true creative is constantly dealing with the unglamorous, unfun minutiae of bringing their vision into reality. Kevin has jokes, but he doesn't record himself coming up with and honing his material. He doesn't film doing his taxes or reviewing demographics data, but all of that is required to realize his creativity. You have to have a strong work ethic. Nobody just gets an idea and goes on stage.Creativity is like marriage. Melissa can definitely relate to how marriage looks from the outside compared to its reality. She has an idealized vision of creativity in her mind, but if she accepts the reality of it--rolling up her sleeves and power through the boring parts--she will see that she's BEEN creative. Don't buy the 'tortured genius' schtick Kanye puts out--trust that his behavior is calculated. Most creative types are much more normal than they act. They don't do half the drugs, sleep with half the people, or party as hard as the hype would have you believe.

My son is 16 and we've traveled all over the world and now he doesn't want to go anywhere. I asked him does he want to take a couple of friends on a trip for his 17th in March and he was like no and I said anywhere?????? I'm like ok cool! I'll save my coins lol Theses kids are so independent but its healthy and I'm here for it.

I don't understand why it's necessary to continue the debate if Melissa is creative. I think all Melissa is saying is that creativity is not her dominant strength. Ideation and creativity aren't necessarily the same thing. And to go from ideation to execution happens across all spheres including art and business. And I wouldn't confuse excitement and being a zone with being creative. It's being in the flow of the moment. Again that happens in all roles. From a personality standpoint, those that are more artistic are way more intuitive and abstract. Those of us that aren't artists can dabble in it from time to time but that's not how we experience and perceive the world on a regular basis. I'm with Melissa, no need to keep talking about it!!

Liss, I am also a creative. I make jewelry, crafts, etc. I think the difference is personality. I am very reserved, so I don’t burst with creativity. I think your example for creative is based on more impulse personality types. We aren’t like that naturally.

I think of a creative as someone who is an actor, singer, writer, athlete. ..someone who breathes, eats and sleeps their passion. I would say that I have creative moments, but I am not creative.

This is the definition of "Imposter Syndrome". You have the skill and do the work, but because you don't feel like the societal archetype- you don't feel as though you belong. Kevin even used your definition to illustrate that you are "a creative" by your own definition - to which you basically said - I'm creative sometimes, but I'm not "a creative". This means that you think creatives are like that 24/7 365. If that were the case there would be no such thing as writer's block, burnout, lack of inspiration, etc.

I think there’s a difference between being creative and being A creative. A person can be great at taking photographs, but that doesn’t make them a photographer. On the contrary, there are people who call themselves photographers but don’t take the best photos. I think a person calling themself a creative or not is completely subjective and relative to that person’s opinion.
