Theme from a Summer place came from a 1959 film "A summer Place" music written by Max Steiner.
The Instrumental was made famous by Percy Faith who's version spent an at-the-time record of nine consecutive weeks at number 1 singles chart in early 1960. It remains the longest-running number-one instrumental in the history of the chart.
This version is based on Bruce Welch's Shadows version from Shadowmania 2012 Featuring Bruce Welch on Rhythm, Daniel Martin on lead guitar, Cliff Hall on keyboards, Alan Jones and Bob Watkins on Drums.
An equally great version featuring Phil Kelly on lead ( Bruce's main Lead guitarist) was one of the tracks from the 2008 Shadowmania.

My Dad grew up in the 60s, and this was one of his favorite songs. He passed away last month, and this was one of the songs (Percy Faith version) we played for him. Despite being sedated, he responded to it. I think he would've liked this version. Well done!

Fabulous....!!...Hank Marvin and the Shadows playing Apache got me started on guitar back around 1960.....now aged 73..having done many many gigs down the years...I've got way way too much guitar gear..guitars..amps..echoes..pedals.........That rascal Hank Marvin has got a lot to answer for.....!!!!!!

Thank you for reviving this theme so beautifully. I am 61 yo and have loved this piece since I was 5 yo or so. It has a magical spirit to it and never fails to bring my spirits up when I am feeling depressed. You have done a wonderful job playing this masterpiece. have a very happy and healthy Christmas.

It makes me so happy to see this because I associate this song with my grandma who passed on July 3, 2017. This was her favorite song and every now and then I’ll just come back to listen to it because it reminds me of her. Amazing job!

Hi, Phil ! This is arguably one of (if not THE) most beautiful melodies of all-time, and for all my rock tendencies, this tune remains a guilty pleasure. Never really considered it for myself, as I wasn't sure I could do it justice, but you my friend, have aced it ! The perfect tone, nice slides and use of double stops, and you seem very relaxed playing it. Gotta say BTU, and like "Shine", it's added to my faves. Cheers, mate ! Dan.

I heard your version on my phone as an alarm to wake up. OMG, I played it over and over and over!! It's sooooo beautiful!!! I had never heard it played on guitar. It's my favorite song of all time. Hi Phil hope you are having a great Christmas with the family. I am crying as I write this message and listen to the summer place theme,(sorry to get emotional), We had a baby girl whom we adopted out back in 1968 for personal reasons. In 2009 we located her after 43 years living in Newcastle Sydney. We flew down there to meet her at the airport, it was a lovely summers day. The theme from a summer place you play is just the best, I listen to you play it most days as it reminds me so much of that day we reunited with our daughter. Thanks so much Phil Kev
