I am of the Douglas Adams school of thought, when it comes to theories of everything: “There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”
@@eddys.3524 Okay, new headcannon: 42 is the number of times it has been discovered what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here, which is to say, the iteration number of our universe, neatly encapsulating just how bizarre and inexplicable It is - which seems to me like a pretty good answer to some "ultimate question about the universe and everything".
The burden of proof lies with the claimant and is not for anyone else to disprove. The inability, or unwillingness to disprove a claim does not render that claim valid, nor give it any credence whatsoever.
So, after one year, nobody has even mentioned a contestant. Maybe those dissing physicists live in unconnected airtight bubbles? I also don't know any even half way similar channel.
That's only because the Theory of everything is not found yet.... But I'll have it somewhere here, I think.... @cleaning out his closets and cursing a lot@
I am not so certain. When watching 'the biggest ideas' by Sean Carroll, I was reminded that einsteins equations of GR were solved to predict black holes. If it is the correct TOE, then emergent within should be life and consciousness along with all personality.
Your musical talent coupled with your educated perspective of the universe is quite refreshing. The world is better for having people like you in it 🙏🏻
Quite frankly I found Sabine was the only one on top of things in that messy Spacetime debate few weeks back. In particular her comment on not underestimating the value of being comprehensible and communicating effectively was really on point. Now this diss song 😆 I had a good laugh thx
It was a very interesting discussion, definitely worth the time. I can see why "beauty", which appears to mostly mean "simplicity" is so appealing. I also expect that when you have no idea what to do next, that most people will begin to investigate new novel things as a way to try and discover something new. Physics is "stuck" simply because all the easy low hanging fruit have been picked clean. There's really not much else to it from what I see..
@@jamiegagnon6390 I'm around 2m (6 foot 5?)... I would like to suggest we use height as the metric to determine "bigness"... but I'll settle for tallest fan
I even went to other singing videos to check whether she used credits at all in the others, she didn't. So to me it is plausible that only one Sabine exists.
Sabine's inbox: "Really loved your 'Theories of Everything' music video. Totally awesome!!! I've been working on a theory to unify black holes and dark matter to show Einstein was wrong about General Relativity. I was wondering if you could help me with the math ..."
I just discovered today the videos os Sabine singing. Wow, I have not many words left but wow. And this video in particular, this is some truly high class act in trolling back. Sabine- you are great, even more amazing that I thought when I first started to watch your science videos just a few months ago. This one and the Schrödinger cat video.
She chose to be a scientist, and she's a really good one, but she had the talent to make a lot of other things, but she chose the most difficult one... thank you for this, Sabine
Recently i've been fuelling my interest in physics and so eventually I arrived at your pages...then this clip suddenly appeared...I was like is this for real??? and even though I don't think you take yourself too seriously, I must say this is quite a catchy song! When you explain you came up with this in just a couple of weeks I'm actually really impressed because it's not so easy to create a good song out of the blue (I know because I used to produce myself) but to do everything (mastering, video ,etc)yourself as well to get it uploaded in this state, well... job well done! You made me smile :)
0:17 "If you don't wanna hear me sing, you better turn off now" Nearly a minute of explanation later: *sings* Sabine you are wonderful and RU-vid is better for having you here. :)
Excellent video. Great sense of humor, catchy tune and ridiculing (in a gentle, not excessively harsh way) intellectual false pretense - all in one. Sharp intellect and entertainment talent - Sabine has it all!
Hello Sabine. I just woke up few minutes ago and the first thing I did was watch and hear you singing. Even though I don't have any theory for everything, I now become officially your biggest fan too! Cheers!
I suspect if there was a theory of everything that unified physics, it would have been discovered within the last 50 years. But just because we notice connections between some aspects of the universe doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be connected.
OMG....This actually might be the most amazing thing I've ever seen online. HAHAH!! I follow your science videos and its clear you have an amazing sense of humour. Brilliantly subtle a lot of the time. To be honest I never really bothered to check your music because well why would I? I 'm not looking you up for that but I am thrilled to have clicked on this video. Just more evidence of how amazing you are. Love everything that you are doing!! great voice
The last thing i saw was "send them to me..." with a nod.. soooooo.... here comes everything! :-0 We are emergent fractals in an emergent universe and therefore deterministic science cant predict the future of life!!. Also dark matter is bunk!
Thank you, Dr. H! You have been a huge help me understand Physics. I've just now learned that you are a recording artist. I am a recording artist as well. Please let me know how I can share some of my music with you. You are an excellent professor as well as an excellent musician.
Brilliant, witty, creative woman. I think I'm in love. Must be love, because I've spent the entire night watching her physics videos... and now this. Just can't seem to get enough.
Thats one of your greatest videos! I love the lyrics and the sound. That was a song, thats the most necessart I ever heard. Now I listen to the song a third time and I am sitting in my lab laughing. The german word is: "Schenkelklopfend". YEAH! Thank you very much, I love it!
"🎹❤🌹Ive been a Pianist/Writer/Musician forever Lol. Love what you do your performing especially the subject matter. Keep being Creative. Thats truly a Gift. Look forward to more."
Sabine, you are a very eccentric person but in a rather splendid way. Your theories of everything are pure speculation, but then so are all the other "everything" theories. You shoot at the moon in the hope that one day.... one day.. one day. Maybe a life in the music industry might reward you with more positive results. Bless your courage. S. C.
@@JayVal90 I don't doubt she has lost her temper more than once about this. Nonetheless, she can sing such a lighthearted song about such a frustrating topic. I find that admirable!
Oh Sabine! You don't need excuses to sing. ❤ I love it! I only just discovered that you are a singer/songwriter. Watch out Bob Dylan! I only hope you haven't stopped recording new ones.
Ok, I read in a bio of you you were also a musician so I had to look up music videos involving you and this one came up first. Hey, I like your voice! This was a lot of fun, too. I love your attitude. You seriously know how to take life seriously, but not TOO seriously.
While I enjoy Anton's work, I say you can have fast or accurate: Anton does fast. So if you want an accurate commentary I suggest starting your own channel :-)
The key question to ask: what is it good for? If the answer is, "It lets me sound smart", it's probably not a theory of everything. At best, it might be a theory of nothing.
What are the roles of the apostrophe in your writing? And in particular, what rule are you following when you put it in "lets"? I'm not saying the rules you are applying are necessarily shit; I'm just curious to know what they are.
B. Xoit I can’t tell you whether it’s a formal rule / correct. But when people use let’s, it mean let us. Let’s go shopping = let us go shopping. I think the OP meant to say lets, not let’s.
"Trying to capture the Physicists' precise Mathematical description of the Quantum World with our crude words and mental images is like playing Chopin with a boxing glove on one hand and a catcher's mitt on the other." George Johnson
Making music is a joy and a bit of a release isn't it? I really enjoyed your song and hope your message hits the intended target. I have to say, I don't think I have ever heard a torch song done with such a mild demeanor. You might have found a new niche there. That look you gave with your head nodding at the end was priceless lol - that was a clear sign of a firm position. Well done!
"Eric..., an Einstein with a W not someone to forget...." You hit the nail right on the head with that one line. That's exactly what he wants to be, the next Einstein.
@@Galdring I guess every physicist has dreamt about being the next Einstein. Just like everyone has at some point dreamt about being rich or famous. Eric however basically thinks he is some sort of unrecognised, unfairly treated genius. The fact that the "scientific establishment" doesn't just drop everything immediately in order to learn from his mighty intellect is what makes him upset. He only wants recognition so he can satisfy his gigantic ego. It's ridicoulus...
@@EscSteve I'm not a physicist, so I can't speak on the merits of Geometric Unity. Considering how Eric's brother has been treated by academia, I can understand his fruatration, though. I guess it all comes down to whether you believe the stories, and whether your faith in the universities has already been tarnished by seeing the influence of critical theory (and the many academics and intellectuals who are revolting against it). The video is clever, but it is also quite misandrist. I think it's harmful to mock attempts at unifying theories, although I'm sure Hossenfelder has her reasons for her critique. I also think it's odd for Hossenfelder to mock Wolfram, who has contributed so much more to science than she has. Complaining about men wanting to be her friend is also odd. These men are often looking for female scientists of merit to speak on their shows, because they aren't that many, and it is terrible PR not to include them. The song's clever and quirky, but it's also hiding behind woke protection to spew chauvinism that would have been considered unacceptable if directed at anyone other than white men.
I love your mindset, Sabine... I'm studying physics, starting next year... Mostly for having observed your passion for physics - and style. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
😂 Sabine you're the best! But, for the rest of us who barely understand this stuff, please look into and give us your trusted opinion because otherwise it's all just a big jumble that only the super brains can talk about and hope to understand. I'm an engineer with a very high IQ, and for 40 years I've been interested in the fundamental nature of everything, but when the math got so complex and the theories so abstract I just figured well it's beyond my comprehension and I just walked away. Then you and a few others I now follow reignited my interest and belief that, just maybe, I too can understand, at least conceptually, this universe we call home. Thank you 😌
I can recommend Sean Carroll’s currently running Big Ideas series. A bit of math for sure, but you get a lot of understanding from the way he presents it. Also, he tries to keep it to the well established science, so no “theories of everything” in sight there.
I do not have a Theory of Everything but now, I do have a Theory of Hot, Light Matter. It explains why things get warmer and expand. My theory eliminates the need for dark matter and predicts that Everything will be just fine, even (especially) if the light is on.
A certain Buddhist Professor goes to a hot dog stand and the vendor asks her "Hey lady what can I make ya?". "Make me one with everything" replies the Professor.
Oh, so very well done, Sabine! I love the takedown of these (of course, all guys 😄🤪🙄) 'theoreticians' who seem to think you should fall to your knees in awe of their, um, brilliance. _~standing ovation~_
This video needs to be preserved like the handwritten letters that 19th century physicists sent each other were. A catchy tune with beautiful graphics is a bonus. Feynman would have approved, IMO. 😀
@@radiowallofsound It is not even that. She asked him point blank: "Can you show me how to calculate situations where blackholes are in a state of super position?" Which is the kind of problem that quantum gravity theory is supposed to solve. He dodged the question. That is the kind of thing she was alluding for.
@@Alkis05 that's very interesting, do you remember where she asked him that? I remember them both being on a livestream on pbs spacetime, very interesting indeed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CJx3gLkebIA.html
@@radiowallofsound Yes, it was in the livestream. 1:10:20 She said that the question as why there are 3 generations of particles or the chirality of particles are not real problems. The actual question was: "Can you calculate the gravitational field of an electron in a state of superposition?"
