Theory of Sonic: Origin of Solaris 

Alright so, here's the thing about Solaris: The Japanese version of 06 and the Prima guide are more explicit about what he is. Basically he existed before space-time itself and exists outside of it, and he placed various forms of himself across space-time.

Sonic 06 deserves better care before it was released, to me you just created the true lore of the story, I love when it comes to mythology civilization

Wait you forgot some points! 1: Mephiles used the chaos emeralds to actually fuse with iblis, he could’ve just fused with him without the emeralds but he didn’t. This implies that Solaris has to be connected with the chaos emeralds. Maybe he was spawned/created from it? Another piece of evidence is that Solaris uses similar abilities to other chaos energy users. Making an unbreakable shield similar to the super shields from sonic heroes, or making beams of light similar to Sonic creating a beam of yellow energy in chronicles. He also has invulnerability and immortality, and he can control fire, fate and time easily(he could dominate all three and possibly even death itself) using chaos energy. 2: There are mentions of many gods in the sonic multiverse in sonic riders. Maybe they were the ones who put those green orb tech to prevent Solaris’ destruction? There’s no one but them who could’ve done that. 3: Solaris can take up many forms or bodies, maybe the three legged eagle was the earliest body of Solaris? And then he changed into this giant golem and in phase 2, a headless eagle symbol.

In regards to the "Black Energy" that Solaris is being injected with the game provides the answer for what it is with Shadow's Chaos Spear being what creates the Scepter of Darkness. It's Pure Unbridled Chaos Energy. Chaos is power enriched by the heart. Solaris' anger at being abused and experimented on for selfish (albeit sympathetic) reasons corrupted his heart and gave birth to Mephiles the same way it corrupted Chaos at seeing his Chao friends trampled over.

I got to say this is a very original and interesting theory that really makes use of all of 06 assets. But one thing I would like to mention is that Solaris can actually appear in many forms we saw not only its 2 peaces Iblis and Mephiles create bodies for them self despite there pure form being a living shadow and a living flame but as you mentioned your self the Solaris we fight in the game is actually just a body of light it created for it self. So it could be possible that the Griffon was actually Solaris in a body it created for it self to interact with humanity. Also does the Scepter of Darkness makes sense to exist because when you pay close attention to the cut-scene in which Solaris is split apart into mephiles and Iblis that the machine that did this actually did separate the darkness from the flame meaning the Scepter was properly build as part of the Solaris project to seal Mephiles and with it the mind of Solaris away to gain access to its raw power to bend time to the will of the Duke. Which is properly also why Mephiles and latter Solaris are so evil when Solaris never was in the past he is pissed that some random mortals tried to strip him of his mind and turn him into a mindless servant to them. In away is this even how there create the time paradox at the end of the game after the 3 super hedgehogs destroyed Solaris mind(consciousness did Sonic and Elise use its own power to travel to the past and change time.

The four legged eagle seems like a Griffon, the king of all beast, it's earthly and grounded because it's half lion making it the king of land beast and earth and the Eagle is divine and heavenly due to its ability to fly it's the king of the skies and birds. The two are polar opposites yet when merge they are the king of kings a near god to all beast air or land. Much like Mephiles is like ruler to the dark and Ibilis to ruler of fire. When you have a fire it creates light but where there is light there is darkness. Solaris for the most part a bad guy but the Griffons are seen as protectors from evil, the eagle symbolism is deep too but I think I rambled on long enough.

You know, comes to think about it, Solaris himself is interesting because he's a god with an unknown origin. Plus many people(who like Sonic 06) believe that the reason Solaris became evil because he was corrupted when being split into two beings(Mephiles and Iblis) after the horrific diaster which led to the failure of the Solaris experiment. Combined with 10 years of imprisonment made them bitter and insane. As a result, gave the splintered deity the desire to end the world of mortals for trying to harness his powers for time travel.

Wait a minute Solaris was born outside of time though and the true Solaris existed in a Timeless And Spaceless Void.

Solaris is the most powerful being in Fictional history and the most unknown the only ones that can beat him are three Hedgehogs in their Super forms

Is it possible that the eagle is sealed inside the chaos emeralds since the power of the chaos emeralds was enough to beat Solaris even though he excited in every time present past in future. I mean the eagle could've had so much power that it was split into 7 and sealed into gems. The chaos do grant the user with ultimate power when all put together.
