This is the best 45ACP ever made. Plain and simple. Still is to this day. It was WAY ahead of it's time. It has the best and proper capacity. It's the most or tied for the most reliable firearm I have ever had. It's never failed once in countless rounds, suppressed, unsuppressed, never cleaned... It's just amazing

@@chltmdwp They really shouldn't jam, Most people leave the factory oils on or oil over them. Try stripping the oils and using good oil on it. Problem solved.

The recoil spring is engineered and designed for +p , so light loads or any ammo under 890fps probably doesn’t fully compres it properly .🤔

Justin FNX 45 is a very reliable handgun, it's just the ammo you are using, i think the best ammo is sig Sauer, I never had any problem, very accurate, but thanks for sharing your experience.

I had similar problems in cold weather with Frog lube cleaning and lube with my CZ P10c. I noticed it gummed up if it was cold and sat for a while. After two rounds it heats up enough to make the slide ride like glass. Thanks for being honest and showing not only the good but the bad. Keep up the good work brother!

i have always liked the fnx .45. with that said, my lgs has the cz p10f in .45 acp with 13 plus one capacity. i didnt even know that cz made the p10 series in anything but 9mm.

Yea I thought jus 9mm. I wish they would make the cz scorpion in other calibers. Was nvr a big fan of pcc’s besides the hk ump but I do love my scorpion. If u like 45 and want a lot of it the fnx45t is a great option. Ther very soft shooting 45’s. Handles the 230gr+p HST’s very well, I forget I’m shooting 45 sometimes.

Never seen the descending plates before. Pretty neat. I like the way the FNX 45 Tactical feels in my hand, hope I can find a rental counter with one soon.

I initially had failure to eject issues with my FNX 45. However, a friend recommended lucas extreme duty gun oil. It appears to perform better with temperatures. I did not have any more failure to eject after I switched despite what ammo I used.

I had some trouble with mine stove-piping when shooting 180gr rounds. Zero problems with 230gr. So, I installed the Recoil Reduction System and then I would use the weaker spring for the 180gr rounds, with no problem. Talked with the son of the guy that invented the 45 Super and he stated that the FN FNX, should be fine with that load! Haven't tried it yet, though. Cheers, Tony

I have one and love it. I truly don"t like DA/SA triggers, the DA is like all DAs, long firm pull. It can be carried cocked and locked and the SA trigger has a lot of slop, typical for a DA/SA, with a light trigger. The break is decent. Its livable. There is no comparison with a tuned 1911 trigger and i don't shoot as well as my tuned 1911, but it is livable. The 15 round capacity is hard to argue against. With the stainless steel slide with anti corrosion coating and thermopolymer frame, it is impervious to snow, rain, salt, and sweat. Perfect companion to my FN SCAR 17 on a load out. It is a perfect camping and hiking pistol, and with my Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen light mounted under on the rail, a fearsome home defense pistol loaded with 230 grain +P JHP. I would not hesitate to pack it with me to go camping for any 2 or 4 legged predator. It will lay waste to any 2 legged predators.

I have an FNX-45 and the earlier FNP-45 USG. Mags don't interchange, but otherwise they handle the same. The feed ramp is cut more into the chamber on the FNP, so no +P in it. The FNP mag is also less roomy front to back, so some non-ball ammo doesn't feed well. Those faults are corrected in the FNX. Like you said, not the greatest triggers, but still quite shootable. Ambi controls and a does it all safety system. Holds more than a Glock 21 yet the grip has smaller circumference.

It's likely the ammo. My Fnx 45 tactical does not like the reloaded pud loads they sell at my local range, but cycles Winchester white box just fine.

Maximus Joseppi it would be nice to see a metal frame fnx45t. It’s already a soft shooting 45 but I think a metal frame would b a nice touch. I love my fnx45t, I want another in black so I can swap the slides over. I do Wish ther was a little bit more of a aftermarket for them but maybe that’s a good thing lol

The FNX 45 is the one gun I would go to war with. The 9mm just doesn't cut it in battle. When my son came back from Irag, he told me that him and his buddy put about 15 round's of 9mm into an insurgent before he went down. He carries back here a custom built 1911 45acp built by a military arms company he knew in Iraq. But the FNX 45 with it's 15 round magazines are necessary today with large riots happening today. I'm a revolver guy, but the FNX 45 is for any really serious social work.

Richard Colligon yes the FNX45T is an outstanding pistol. If I had to do work with only FMJ rounds for whatever reason I’m going with 45acp. I carry 9mil but hav 40 and 45s. My FNX45T is my house gun/ sometimes off body carry. I hav 1911’s n I love them but something about 15+1 rounds of 45 is always a crowd favorite lol.

I haven't noticed my FNX-45 needing or preferring hotter ammo, but my Glock 41 definitely does. It'll cycle fine with weaker stuff, but the casings just limp their way out of the gun, like they're dribbling out. Load it up with some +P defensive ammo and it's bouncing the casings off the ceiling of the range. :)

About pistols having been designed primarily for Military use, and not very accurate. I think the Sig P226 was originally designed with the Military in mind. With that said, the most recent manufactured Sig P226 line the "Legion", is extremely accurate! Using either the Single Action trigger or Double Action, I've shot 2" five (5) shot groups at 25 yards off hand using Winchester white box 124gr. fmj rounds!

The FNX has an overpowered magazine spring when new. Could the excess upward pressure from the magazine be causing the issues due to increased drag?

I haven’t seen many reviews where the review continued even when there were issues. I watched a review of a .22 pistol where the reviewer started with Federal black box ammo. Happens to be a sponsor. After several failure to fire, AKA duds, he mumbled something about the magazine, and switched to CCI ammo. I bought a bunch of that Federal black box, and it’s the worst .22 ammo I own. Has about 20% duds. I just shot my FNX45 tactical yesterday. My reloads never fail in any other weapon, and I fire many different firearms in 45acp. My loads chrono at 925fps. I got identical stove pipes and failure to feed. I haven’t tried factory loads. Maybe the problem will go away with use. I like the tactical enough to have a FNX45 on order. It will be interesting to compare the two. I wonder if keeping the slide locked back for a few days would help break it in. Recoil spring? Don’t know right now, but I definitely like this pistol enough to work with it. If I have to buy factory ammo for it I will. Could also increase my load. Thanks for doing an honest review. Very refreshing.

Justin; I have the same FNX as you and I have the BBR 3.10 (both are double stack 45 ACP), in reality if I need to use either for self defense there won't be time for sighting. I practice shooting from the hip, that's the real use.

The trigger on mine is great as far as the nice crisp break and pull weight. It's pretty easy for me to make tight groups at the range. The thing that I think really sucks about it is the way it's shaped and where it breaks. It winds up at an angle where your finger tries to slide down the face of it while pulling it, and would probably slip off the end if there wasn't a trigger guard on the gun. It's really annoying and uncomfortable after a particularly long range session. If you rub your finger against it and the trigger guard enough times, then sooner or later it's going to start to hurt or even cause a blister. I don't usually put that many rounds through it at a time, but I have done so enough times to figure that much out. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an aftermarket trigger shoe for them.

Lock slide to rear for a week or two while in storage/safe. Mine had same problem first range visit and I was not happy then I read somewhere to lock slide to rear for awhile I did that and gun ran 💯 on the same ammo it choked on originally. Stiff recoil spring apparently.

Okay Justin try my recipe for 230 grain ball, 8.5 grains of HS-6. It works fine in my XD-45 service model. I'm sure you're familiar with the recoil springs in the XD how tight they are.

@@Multi2lit I have never had a problem with any 230gr FMJ ammo that was loaded to normal pressure... I have never had any problems with 230gr hollow points loaded to normal pressure or =P pressure....the ONLY problems I have is with reloaded "gamer" ammo designed to just meet the power factor and in those cases it will have failures to feed because there just isn't enough pressure to cycle the slide reliably. The FNX just isn't a gamer gun.. it's intended to be a fighting gun and it works exceedingly well at that.

I've been having lots of FTE and FTF malfunctions with mine using Winchester White Box. I think it's designed for +P so I'm gonna leave the slide locked back for a few weeks. I know it is designed for Combat and that recoil Spring is STOUT and I can't use subsonic ammo with my Osprey 45 can. This firearm is SIGNIFICANTLY harder to rack than any other pistol I've ever owned.

Use a Glock 17 gen 3 factory guide rod with factory spring. It should fix the feeding problem with lower power ammo.

Always cleaned before storing, and checked before new range work. Cleaned and lubed... just underpowered ammo for the springs I think.

It's a good thing to do. I had a round ignite after 2 to 3 seconds. .303 British. Had I swung the rifle around from downrange I would have sent a round in a direction I didn't want to. Also had I went to eject it it would have went off outside of the rifle or possibly still in the rifle but out of battery. Better safe than sorry.

No, it can happen with modern ammunition - although it is a rare occurrence. I will sometimes eject the round quickly if I think conditions are safe enough (nobody is going to wait 30 seconds on the clock at a match) but it should be super fast - and the ejected round should be "aimed" to a safe spot. Worst thing to do is slowly open the action and peek inside. That's why I didn't press check it - that would be an out of battery detonation right into your face.
