Wow, this made my heart hurt because I'm currently trying to keep my parents out of a nursing home and take care of their needs. I've worked in nursing homes and while much of the staff is kind and patient, it's not something unfortunately that you can always count on. But we all do our best and sometimes you just need help. I'm sorry if you have heartache about your husbands circumstance. I hope you are able to find peace in every day. I studied biology and chemistry in my undergrad. I remember reading at profile of Holmes in a magazine, early in her career, and I was extremely confused as to how more than one or maybe two tests could be run on such a small sample as Holmes claimed to be using. Most tests must be run completely separately, as you mentioned, since they require different environments/conditions, as well as different reagents, etc. It was all very weird that so many people were investing when it was very unclear how Holmes’ proposed invention was even viable. At the time, I assumed that investors must have gotten much more information before investing, but it seems that wasn’t true at all. Being a woman, I also am immune to Holmes’ charms.
