Morning coffee with David is back. We had and up and down week for Braylee. More really good days and meltdowns. We decided it was time to talk to her doctor about medications to hopefully help with school and sleep. It has been very rough for her having so many ups and downs. #autism #weefam

Ohhhh accents... 😂Stacie had me cracking up with the "beverage one" lol. I think it's pretty obvious with all of my "y'all's" that I'm southern 🤠. Regarding the various therapies... I WILL say... our boy has really improved in a lot of areas. It's like ya don't see the day to day change, but when ya look back at months previous, it's significant! 👍 If ya notice, I leave lots of comments... I've been told by other RU-vidrs that it helps y'all with RU-vid's algorithm. So, that's why I ALWAYS think of something to say 😁. Oh, so jealous of the knowing y'all will be getting snow... I'm just thankful if it's cold during holiday season.... and what y'all call cold vs. us... Lol... Big difference!

Was Braylee singing her abc's...darn that was cute. that "How's your day" accent....Barney...that was the accent of Barney the dinosaur ;-) wait, are we just going to gloss over the dramatic change in hairstyle at the 10:14 mark....did you suddenly get a haircut...just brush it...have you been wearing a wig previously...it went from College student to office worker in like a frame lol Hope things go well with the meds.

lol I was wondering if anyone would point out my haircut and shave. That means I did a good Barney imitation right?! Crushed it.

We do music therapy twice a day for 30 min with my daughter ( almost 4 still waiting to be diagnosed) she does better after but getting the two sessions in twice a day is hard sometimes.

It definitely can be a challenge!! We had struggled with getting them all in too. We haven’t been doing her listening much lately since she has been in ABA full time, but when we see severe disregulation or behaviors we always go back. It’s wonderful!

I live in northern bc canada and dont have much for ABA therapy here . She has a OT but only once every weeks. She has a awsome preschool she attends twice a week for 3h but between that music therapy keeps us sane .

Thank you for sharing your experience with theraputic listening , are you still continuing with it ? How often do you do it & have you see any disruptive behaviors while seeing the gains? Im actively considering starting it for my son .

We have not been using it recently. Mostly because of time issues for us and busy schedules. Last time we tried was a few months ago and she was not wanting to wear the headphones. So we gave it a break. We would do it twice a day every day for 30min each time and it had to be at least 3 hours apart. We were also advised no screens or other auditory background stuff during listening sessions. However, when we did use it actively, she did really well on it.

Both of my boys take clonidine for sleep, we have used it for a couple years and it has made a huge difference, we went from 2-3 hours of sleep a night to 6-7 hours .

That is one of the medications that we are starting. Was it a quick change or did it take some time to see improvement?
@yardgnome02-r2h

It was instant, the first night he took it, within about 30 min he was completely out and slept the whole night. The first day was scary how fast it worked, now a couple years later it does not work that quickly but still helps. Fixing his sleep also helped in many other areas, before we started medicating he would walk around with bags under his eyes in a daze his behavior was out of control, it didn't fix everything but it made things significantly better. When my youngest started having issues it was an easy decision for us to request clonidine for him.

My son took Clonidine too and it helped with sleep and worked instantly as well. It actually helped with his moods the next day as well. My son doesnt have autism but he has bipolar, adhd and anxiety. My daughter has autism though but we thankfully dont have any sleeping problems with her. Youre daughter is so cute and I also found you guys from the fathering autism from their younow live videos! My son actually grew out of the clondine so i really hope it helps her! I hate having my son on so many meds but you have to do what helps them. He is also on zoloft and it has helped alot!!

Brandi Baker I am happy you found us! Medications were definitely a tough decision for us. But it comes down to Braylee's quality of life. We will do whatever we can to provide the best possible life for her. That is great that the Meds are working for your kids!
