What are your thoughts about 'Dancing for the Devil' on Netflix? (Side Note: I wish I would have talked more about the NDAs, frequent change of mind about how to handle loved ones, money, etc)

It was sad to see the mom getting excited for Christmas, to see her daughter, and having to be reminded that they were only allowed to see her if they acted like nothing was actually wrong. That was a mindbend. Mom was pretty much in a cult of her own mind...

You nailed it! When people look to others for their relationship with God, they will always be disappointed. Men fail. God never fails. People need to get in the Bible daily, pray daily, and have a direct relationship with Jesus Christ! That’s the key that so many people are missing.❤

Religion Professor here...entrance into a cult always begins when someone has a trusted friend that belongs to the cult. Entrance into the cult is relationship driven at first. It's only after the relationship has given Entrance into the cult does the individual start to believe the doctrine of the cult leader...

Good to see a black woman discuss this- I’m a current grad student for clinical mental health, and definitely a occultist myself. Particularly I’ve been noticing a rise of narcissist in the tarot reading community on here on RU-vid, using this saaaaame white supremacy template to begin the process of forming a cult, but in the spiritual realm of course preying on vulnerable individuals seeking psychic treatment. I got right on out and of course the domination, control, intimidation rose so quickly. I’m so glad my discernment is stronger.

In the documentary they are upset that the police say they need more women to come forward. I was a detective for years, so to clarify it wasn’t the number of women it was the fact that none of the women’s stories met the criminal elements of sexual assault as described by law. Law enforcement wanted more details to try and reach the legal threshold. You can’t arrest someone for lying to you to have sex. So the law sees it as morally wrong but not criminally. So civilly they can sue but a District Attorney will be reluctant to pick up the criminal case.

I teach my students that if they are approached in their lives, especially by strangers, it’s usually because somebody wants either their money or their body. Cult leaders want it all plus they cut you off from your family and friends. So better be careful y‘all younger and older folks out there. Xx❤ Spread the message and stay safe ❤️

Sad that these cults prey on ppl when they’re most vulnerable. Sign of a cult to me, begins with ideology. The people tend to look alike, talk act alike, and do everything the same. They start with love and family atmosphere, Sprinkle God in there and then the damage slowly starts. It’s very sad and I hope Miranda wakes up and leaves.

Really enjoyed your insights. Praying for all of those who are struggling. My parents were in a cult when they were young. I heard their stories and know how it can effect people's lives. The documentary was devastating, and I pray there is an end to this evil control.

I wanted to add that a true church of God will reflect only God's character. This includes not focusing on the temporary things of this world, but the character of God which includes the Fruits of the Spirit which leads to Godly love. Cult "Ministries" who promote the selfish desires of the leadership (money, power, fame) are not of God. Cult "Ministries" who play on the worldly desires of the nieve, immature children and those tempting passions, are not of God. Cult "Ministries" who resort to grooming the flock to persuade them to complete devotion to them and isolating them from loved ones, are not of God. This Shekinah Church and is leader (I do not want to call Shin a "pastor" because he is not working for God ) is demonic and pagan.

Thank you so much for reviewing this docuseries and offering your perspective. As a Christian I found myself becoming angry at how he twisted and manipulated scripture. He focused on scripture that spoke about judgement, obedience and humility. The context was misleading and he never dealt with sound biblical doctrine. I was also annoyed by Robert’s misrepresentation of God’s character. He painted God’s love as a picture of performance with conditional acceptance. He seemed to also draw from various Christian sectors; the Catholic belief that the mother Mary was the intermediary for man and Christ. He depicted himself as the supreme representative of Christ. He took the charisma of the black church and infused a universal appeal with diverse music. Bless their hearts they were too vulnerable and brainwashed to even catch his hypocrisies. First he tells them to cut off family and friends to “save them from hell” and later he encourages them to HAVE courage to stay connected to them. He preyed on their vulnerability and trauma. And as you said there was so much longing. In every story like this be it cult or gang we hear people longing for community and desire to belong. UGH so much to say but thank you again for this review. I do believe that the time will come for complete justice to be served. 🙏🏽 That charismatic witchcraft! 🎯🎯

The documentary is crazy. I actually follow a couple of those dancers for years. Now looking at them , it makes me sad. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes and camera

TY for sharing your thoughts about the seeming frequent intersection of Christianity and cults. The documentary was shocking to me because i often "liked" RU-vid Shorts made by the dancers in the Netflix series. I literally had no indication that there waa something dark going on with the dancers. They all appeared to be joyful people trying to make themselves known on YT. I refuse to watch anymore of these dance videos after learning about the cult. I wrote a complaint to YT customer service asking that these videos be removed from the platform. I've posted messages asking other viewers to NOT click "likes" on the videos because the action generates money for Robert Shin. I am now blocked from viewing a couple of YT dancer channels because of my activity. I don't care about the blocked access though because what's happening with the dancers is simply WRONG. And it needs to be stopped on YT.👍

I was sad for the sisters family and young adults being taken advantage of😢🎉 I loved the dances in between.. I saw a dance for the love❤of others

I recommend the parents to pray the rosary every day... their daughter will come back... It's a spiritual battle they can't win without God's power.

My opinion, all forms of religion are a cult. Cult; a system veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. Only difference between cult and culture/religion is extremity. I couldn't wrap my head around them even sitting through his sermons, I didn't catch any relativity, cringe. And yes with all the cases like you said these are adults who choose to stay by choice, desperation or coercion. I also noticed with every religion there are SA issues/cases, congregations and temples full of creeps. I personal don't trust to join any type of group or following, I trust my own connection with our Creator.

These poor families! I feel as if I am watching the sciencetology documentary all over again. I had no idea and I stopped following both Miranda and Vic as I cannot support anyone or anything that pushes you to cut off all ties to your family

#1- I’m a follower of Christ. #2- I’m a dancer. #3- I followed every single one of these talented “influencers” before I too binge-watched the doc. I unfollowed all of them because I felt that was in an indirect way supporting what they’re a part of…. A cult making a mockery of my faith. With that said, there was enough evidence of Robert proclaiming his faith by twisting the truth of the gospel is a sick and deranged way that just couldn’t have been made up or dubbed. This whole “there are two sides to every story” bit that Miranda is responding with is nonsense. Based on the footage, there are too many first-hand victims speaking out,and allegations like theirs unfortunately are very valid. When you have the Holy Spirit in you, you just know when the red flags are telling you that Satan is involved, and you recognize when your faith is being misrepresented and manipulated. I 100% fear for all of them, and I’m angry that that’s their experience of Christianity- because what they’re a part of is indeed a cult and has ZERO to do with my Savior’s true love for mankind.

Watched the dance video's! I have not seen the documentary. I noticed immediately, what I have seen before. Souls without substance. "Empty Shell Syndrom" Form without Substance! Sad! In Matthew 25:14-30 and Luke 19:11-27, Jesus tells the parable of the talents, where the master, representing God, commends his servants for making a profit with his money and condemns the servant who did nothing with his talent. If God gives us a gift, he calls us to steward it wisely, to use, and increase it. There will be thousands of false profits for every true Profit.

I think perhaps Miranda not growing up in a church , she doesn’t have a reference for what a Christian Church is supposed to look like. Maybe it would help if her parents found a church to join and when Miranda visits ask her to go to church with them and see what it is supposed to be like. Church doors are supposed to be open to everyone and tithes are “recommended “ to be 10%, not required and not 30%. And how are you supposed to bring people to Christ if you cut off everyone from your life? And a Pastor should not be using the pulpit to speak on clout and business seeking.

🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️ The reason why "Christian" cults can easily separate their victims from their family is because they use the word of God inappropriately and out of context to manipulate, convict and confuse their victims! For example... In the book of Luke Jesus says he who does not hate his father and his mother and their own self will not be able to be His disciple.... it is very easy for a cult leader to use this scripture as gospel to instruct the victim to cut off all ties with their family. However, if you really read and study the word of God cover to Cover you will understand that this scripture is NOT intending for someone to literally hate their family, themselves and to cut off all ties but rather it is instructing the believer in Christ who has now dedicated their life to Christ to not put ANYONE ELSE above Christ Period... when you give your life to Christ he should be first and foremost in your life And in order to be a DISCIPLE of Christ you must be willing to give up everything for Jesus (including worldly possessions, money fame) And in order to be a disciple of Christ you must be willing to give up everything for Jesus Periodttt. So based on that we can deduce right then and there that this cult leaders advice to these young kids to be absorbed and focused on/with the the idea of Fame, money, possessions is NOT biblical in the same regard it is not biblical to instruct someone to cut off all ties with their family... Especially a family that is showing the individual love! Why would you reject love which is literally The Modus operandi of the Christian faith!!!! I digress... Back to the scripture being taken out of context and what it really means: For example if our parents choose not to follow the Lord and we are faced with loyalty to family VS loyalty to Jesus we must choose Jesus But that does not mean to throw your family away and to cut off all ties in fact as a believer in Christ one should do the complete OPPOSITE and try to bring your family member to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ....in fact we ought to love our family members because we want them to follow God ! furthermore the Bible instructs us as children to honor our mother and fathers. So while in the book of mark Jesus states that we ought to hate our father and mother this MUST be seen in CONTEXT ...the Point is not that we are to be heartless and cruel and cut them off but we must love God more than our family and even ourselves. Telling young kids/adults to hate their families...cut off their families is actually NOT biblical it goes against the bible as well as the fifth commandment to love and HONOR (RESPECT) your mother and father...Cutting off your family is doing just the complete OPPOSITE. May God deliver these individuals from this horrible situation
