That’s why she used the word “maiden” then he went through a string models. Imagine what that did to her self esteem. Guys treating her like an inexperienced girl, a kid to them😭 even that 18 yr old made her feel that way. She didn’t deserve to go through all this. Plus the slut shaming from the media and the cancel culture from Kanye. The world has treated her so cruelly. And all she’s ever wanted is to feel that she belongs somewhere. I hate that it didn’t work out with Joe. Poor girl.

The 300 takeout coffees/ later also appears to be a tie in to Clean (10 months sober) - 1 takeout coffee a day x 30 days a month x 10 months. Like she still wanted to hear Harry say what she needs, "months and months of back and forth" (Clean), "but no" (Is It Over Now?) it still didn't work out, so when she was drowning that's when she thought she was finally clean from their on-off relationship, but she isn't really sure still if it's over.

What I love about Taylor is that she tells us exactly how she felt. She has the right to do that. All of us have in our lives times we just went crazy for love. We thought about revenge, about hurt, about self destruction, about blaming others for our hurt, about self estime issues,..... I can go and go. That sometimes helps us to process our feelings. CW: disordered eating I interpret the “only rumors ‘bout my hips and thighs” to be about her ED-her weight was different when they dated and afterward was when it sounds like the ED started/became more severe (based on what she said in Miss Americana); her saying she just let the “she’s too thin!” headlines and rumors about her go unanswered as a way of almost (from her perspective) protecting him from speculation about the end of the relationship. Since he started dating a lot of models and she befriended a lot of them around this time too, I would think it’s reasonable to infer all of those things at once worsened her ED. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but I don’t think Harry (who I know nothing about!) is angry and my gut says she let him hear them. This is the story from her perspective of events from a decade ago. He was very young, she’d had a couple really rough heartbreaks which probably stunted her emotional development in some ways, and it sounds like they had a connection that meant something to them both and maybe they’re both taking accountability and telling their side of what happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also-like other commenters, I picked up on the “300 takeout coffees later” connection to “clean”… but I think that lyric and “in a world of boys he’s a gentleman” tie back to “begin again” and sitting with someone IN a coffee shop and him pulling her seat out for her, etc. (I know that’s not for sure for sure about him, but I noticed those parallels, and if that IS the case, then it’s even more understandable why she fell fast and hard for him because of the contrast and the intensity of the relationship she had with JG). This song is #1 at the moment for a very, very good reason. imo, and others it would seem, this is the best Vault track on 1989 (TV). I would say by a country mile as well. I would almost go as far as to say it's the best track on the whole of 1989 (TV) when taken with Out Of The Woods. However back then she could never have got away with including both it and OOTW on the original. Also sometimes what she writes she might not want to actually make it to record, but just vent her feelings.

I think your assessment is spot on and your inner Swiftie coming out for the Out of the Woods reference really got me because mine did too! I can remember thinking when I first heard this that it may not be so much about not communicating the end as there not being enough closure, so like this seemed like the aftermath for me. The attempt to move on by both parties, when they are still thinking about that past relationship. Was it over when she laid on your couch or when he opened my blouse - they may have both been trying to move on and still been hung up on each other, which made it so much more of a betrayal that he's out there sharing his new found maiden to the world, right? I have some respect for her in regards to addressing the jumping off of tall somethings. I felt it to my core from past experiences. That wondering if I should even be here, does he even care if I go. I have even more respect for you addressing it because people need to hear that. Stay. This will pass. It's gonna be okay. I honestly feel bad for Harry. He grew up in an abuse environment even tho it wasn't from his family. Just knowing what was happening to 1 direction at the time it really sad. Also them being long distance, the accident, and in public eye just way too much was happening too soon for them to succeed. If I remember in Britain turning 18 is like turning 21. I'm not surprised that he made bad decisions and was somewhat spineless. I wonder when Harry turned 22 did he ask himself if he would date an 18 yet old and what the answer was.

The first time I knew Taylor was making s.u.1.C.1d.E intrusive thoughts references was on the Anti-hero song, where she sings "one day I'll watch as you leaving and life will lose all its meaning FOR THE LAST TIME" I heard that line and I was like: OMG, Taylor, are you okay? Then, with Is It Over Now? I realized she might really have thought of jum off of very tall somethings because of the this is me trying verse you just said or the hoax verse "stood on the cliffside screaming: give me a reason" which I think the end of that line could perfectly be: give me a reason not to jump right now. So, I guess with all of the damange in her life she could perfectly have this kind of thoughts, just like everyone else. At the end of the day, she's as human as we are

I love the expressions, this was ALL of us. I agree with the fantasy of jumping of of tall "somethings" to get a dramatic reaction. Also, they were on-again-off-again for a while, so that's where the grey area and nebulous lines come from. Like, weren't we trying again? Then who is this girl (reference: "I heard you've been out and about with some other girl?" Style)

YES!!! I am only a few minutes into your review and I am on the same wave length as you 😊 the beginning is similar to either Sweet Nothings or Labyrinth. Can't remember right now, but I think it's Sweet Nothings. And YES, I absolutely agree that Little Freak is about Taylor. I also think Two Ghosts from his debut solo album is about her. Luckily the age gap wasn't terribly for the few months that they dated, despite him being so young. But yeah, I'd say he has always had a really healthy attitude towards women, even before these two dated, so context here is important.

The difference in maturity between a woman of 22-23 and a boy of 18-19 is HUGE! At least in my home country in Scandinavia 🤔 No woman should use words like "lying traitor" about a teenage boy who is just trying to figure out life in the spotlight. If this song is really a bit about HAYLOR, I wish people would just take it as a cool pop song, not as a reason for hating on Harry. They seem quite friendly meeting at award shows. They could just avoid each other, but they talk and smile, so .... 😏 Anyway, when I was 21 and knew a gorgeous Parisian, I met him by chance in the city 6 months after our amicable break up, I had to smile seeing his new gf was practically my clone. My one issue with this Harry obsession is he was 18/19 in the largest boy band in the world on permanent tour for 5 years and she expected commitment and to say I love you. She was 4 years older… what did she expect. 🤷🏻‍♀️. She had already gone thru her Mayer & Gyllenhaal relationships…. Had she learned nothing. I love her but she really is so much of a hopeless romantic that she always jumps in with her whole body instantly, starts wearing their style/clothes… I had hoped after such a long relationship with Joe, who really was the more mature one in that relationship, she would stop that pattern… but she did it with Matty and now Travis. Sigh. Oh well. But I hate people hating on Harry who was just a deer in the headlights at this point…

I think we need to go back and count the number of times you inadvertently used a lyric while speaking- you did it on purpose a few, but forgot after that, lol You know, as time goes on, I am beginning to think that Blondie is going to have a hard time with anyone past the 7 year mark, if she can even get there. She really doesn't have many stable relationships in her life of any kind, beyond her core family that have lasted longer, and we can only go so far in saying it is the other people, because she is the common denominator in all of the relationships. She has her work crew, which has remained fairly consistent, but she pays them well, even off of tour, and I love Blondie, I am just thinking she may be putting some unrealistic expectations onto people, that no one will be able to live up to over time, and it gives her an out, or they do get tired of it and leave, at least emotionally. I don't know. I don't know how she will ever know who she can trust, and who is after her money and access, that would make you a touch paranoid, as would the things people have done to her. Also, being her age, now, with the resources she does have, gives her the power to walk if she has the slightest displeasure. She will never be part of a starting out couple who need each other to make it, and build a life together. I have always thought Evermore was autobiographical, and parts of Folklore, and Midnights, of course. SHe seems to have always wanted just to have something which, quite honestly, her fame and status has put out of reach for her- which is normalcy. Listen to interviews with Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Gaga, Look at Madonna, Christina, Britney, although she tries, bless her, Cher- they have short-term relationships, that's it. Pink is the one-of, but she talks about the fighting, breaking up, and how hard it is, and how much she puts up with. I don't see Taylor being willing to do that. I also think that she has probably flirted with the idea of suicide more than once, not that she would, but the pressure on her has got to be so immense. I don't know if she has anyone to talk to, other than her mother....... Anyway- as strong as she is, we all have our breaking point. She is to the point, almost of over-saturation, which concerns me for her, and I wish she would concentrate on finishing this tour, and not Travis, and all the other things she is doing- from March on, her schedule is crazy......---SDK

The song refers to two different people. 300 coffees later refers to days.. 300 days =10 months, 10 months sober 'clean'. She was with someone else. Harry was a pr relationship and obviouslya part of her song references their pictures/story... but he was not the person whom she truly dated
