the lyrics are a good bit of the message, but I feel like the music video says that he's blind to all the good he already has around him.

"We're often blind to whats around us..." That sums up the video right then and there. Excellently done.

The fun thing about the video is that he's basically drowning in what he's wishing for but he can't see it. They actually have a lot of deep songs but they can have fun too sometimes ;) If you want one that's about mental health, try "Puppe" or "Angst".

"Zeit" (Time) is in my opinion one of the most impressive songs by Rammstein, also because of its message. However, the birth scene is not suitable for everyone. Rammstein is one of the most controversial and intelligent bands of our time. Very often there are hidden messages in their lyrics and what at first sounds very banal or superficial is, at second glance, profound social criticism or addresses other serious topics such as mental health. A good example is the song "Ich tu dir weh", where it sounds for a long time as if another person is being tortured, until the lyric line "ich seh im Spiegel dein Gesicht" (i see your face in the mirror) makes it clear that it's about self-mutilation.

It would be great to see a mental helath reaction to Ohne Dich (Without You) by Rammstein. Really hope that's in the pipeline since it's one of my favorite tunes by them!

The song "Zeit" is probably the most fitting, tackling the struggles of how time affects our lives, with a beautifull music video to accompany it!

In German there is an old saying/phrase translated into English it´s kinda "He can´t see the forest because there are too many trees interfering his view" And that song is exactly about that notion.. The metaphorical "blind" protagonist wants a girl with big boobs so much that it became his obsessive solely criteria for his wished female partner who he can´t find nowhere although every single female in his enviroment has that overwhelming bust.

Mutter should be next, preferably the live version from Paris. That one will be MUCH easier to find the mental health aspect.

Definitely check out their song "Deutschland". So much (painful) history. And the lyrics will make it an interesting video for you to go through.

At 6:10 you get a view of the Edelweiss flower IIRC. That's a protected species of flower. Due to its delicate fragrance and structure it was given as a sign of love and devotion to your crush. That he steps on it, unseeing, crushing it underfoot, is another symbol of his blindness to the beauty that surrounds him. He even misses the symbol that he could have picked and given it as his opening to the heart of one of the many women surrounding him. As he crushed it he steps to a cliff's edge, trying to stare blindly into the distance, hoping to find his desire far off, ignoring everything close by.

The Zeit album has a lot of songs that are a commentary on the zeitgeist like Zick Zack and Angst. To me, this song is a commentary on shallowness in relations.

The amount of songs they did that talk about really fucked up stuff like straight up rape hidden behind various layers of methaphor is staggering. Stuff like "Feuer und Wasser" (Following a swimming woman to overpower her) or "Liese" (A boy telling a girl if she doesnt sleep with him he will murder her with a sickle) or even "Puppe" ( A boy has a sister who provides for them with prostitutions and witnesses a client murder his sister). but their riffs are soo good and Tills voice is fantastic....

I laughed very hard when you finally realized he was actually (in the video) blind. Also, there's a lot of suggestive imagery at the beginning that is easy to overlook if the joke angle of the song hasn't set in yet. Churning butter in the opening scene for example, even before the cow milking. Great job in finding something here for your uses. Like a skilled fighter, only out of weapons, when the room is empty.

I have spent the past 7 years trying to find someone that wants to be an equal partner and mutually supportive. I am not giving up by any means but I am still single. I have met two fantastic women in my life time, but they were from Europe and we were not able to find a way to make it work. (I met them both as foreign exchange students, it was not just an online thing) They seemed to want to be respected and supported and offered the same in return. I have not seen that mentality from local women. * Again.... not giving up, just my experience.

If you take a look at all the things he does NOT expect from a partner, you will notice, that nothing is left to actually make them a partner in life. In contrast the ladies in the video are all working very hard and you get the feeling, that this settlement would not survive without them. In my opinion the question the song asks is: "Do you really believe, that men are only attracted to cup size?" There are quite a lot of visualized puns (churning the butter, pounding the meat,...) in the video as well and some easter eggs for fans, but those don't matter quite as much in this context. One exception: The flower he steps on toward the end is an "Edelweiß" which played a role in lets say "mating rituals" as a token of affection and is a side reference to their song "Rosenrot".

In the 80's when I just started having a little alcohol here n there, a friend introduced me to "ST. PAULI GIRL" beer 🍺, these women are dressed reminiscent of what I remember St. Pauli Girl's outfits 😊

Sure, that he's blind to what's all around him is one thing. But I also hear a great message. Instead of searching for someone who is perfect in every detail, he only want one thing. That is modesty in his requirements. The search for perfection, both in yourself and others, can ruin so much. Of course, his "needs" are very superficial. I'd rather have someone with emotional or intellectual traits matching mine. But at least he knows his priorities. It's worse to not even knowing or admitting what you really want.

What a song and video.. I was laughing at the cartoon video of all the characters doing the same step repeatedly. This could relate to everything. One coukd be living a good life, and yet one strives to achieve more. That is what many are preaching. Right?

I think your take on this has merit. I would, however, like to point out 80% of what you listed as traits male or female are evolutionary markers 6'8" big strong guy= protection, bust size, fertility, the end of the day most people are preprogrammed to recognize certain traits as desirable. However, then we can get into nature vs. nurture, which is another animal entirely. I'm also of a firm belief that nature vs. nurture also shaped the attraction to the evolutionary markers before we even knew why.

I would love to see a reaction to I Have a Right by Sonata Arctica, it talks about how a child has the right to grow up in a good environment.
