My favorite part of the count of Monte Cristo is when the count hurls the baby at the dragon, but the baby has superpowers of friendship, so the dragon teams up with them to enact revenge on the count's enemies!

The funny thing about that "shipwreck scavenger salary isn't even minimum wage" remark is that it's actually double the current US federal minimum wage working 40 hours/week every week (15,080 at $7.25/hour). That's right, it's 2022, a full 15 years after the minimum wage was set to $7.25, and it hasn't changed at all at the federal level.

Count of Monte Cristo is the best adventure story. That's the only critique of it that can exist. It's basically everything. Every adventure you could want in one book. Like most movies and stories today are one part of it expanded into an entire story of its own. It's nuts.... And yeah, Arin's first spoiler was a spoiler.

I wish there was a "Life: Millennial Edition!" and you could start out going into debt then you could choose a wider assortment of jobs but most were still treasure hunter and sand castle builder. Or you could skip college and start two careers, and be like a treasure hunter AND a sand castle builder. Then when you get to the part where it's like, "Do you want to get married or invest in yourself?" You could instead have the options to get married or get roommates. And then for the having kids options it was just like, "Have more birds!" And each time you get the chance to upgrade your career it's like, "Here's a 3rd or 4th job!" You know, shit like that.

At retirement is says quick sell your house, while the other option said just to sell it. Selling it early lets you shop around with the prices to get the best price, while selling it at retirement just sells it at the first price you get. If you're in the lead in life experience points, like the hearts, books or piggy banks, then buying and selling houses while still on the board is far more beneficial

I like to think all Arin would do as a Marine biologists is say, "Is there life in the ocean? Turns out yes." Or something on the same level as that.

the thing with the house sales is that you only get to pick extra envelopes during the game. at the end, it's "Quick Sell" which forces you to take the first offer. That's why when you land on the house sale tiles, it says you'll get extra chances or whatever

As someone who just finished the 52 HOUR long audio version of Count of Monte Cristo, I relate to the book conversation on an emotional level.

I'm sure other people have already said it, but in case they haven't, when you sell a house at the end of the game you have to take the first offer but if you sell your house during the game you get 3 tries. EDIT: And the loans only cost 50k to pay off during the game, but deduct 100 points essentially doubling in penalty at the end if unpaid.
