There are some ISSUES... | Living with the Mazda CX-60

I drove over 1000km in the new Mazda CX-60 to see what it was like to live with. My test car cost over $80,000! That's a lot of money. So I wanted to see if the CX-60 was worth buying, or do it's small flaws really make it too painful to live with?

My 3.3L Inline 6 Diesel is 12 months old with 12k miles. Its currently having a brand new engine fitted due to severe overheating problems. The rear suspension is also being replaced due to a very bouncy ride. Great looking car but with some serious flaws unfortunately.

A lot of the issues with driver recignition or auto brake have been solved in a recall out mid June. Suspension can also be upgraded.

@@mauromilocco8847 Suspension upgrades? It should not have a bouncy ride period. Inexcusable in this price range. My CX-3 doesn’t have an annoying bouncy ride. And it was half the price of a a CX-60.

We too got our CX-60 PHEV late November 23. No real problem. Other than tinny sounding doors. I mentioned it during the recall and it had been sorted when I collected the car. As for the suspension being bouncy, we didn't have that but it was groaning a lot. Mazda promptly replaced all the shocks etc within 48 hrs of me asking if it was normal. So I can't complain. The issues with the safety functions on the car are a standard complaint of most modern cars from BMW, FORD, AUDI, MERCS, Honda, JAG even Peugeot and Hyundai. So I guess it's down to us not liking being told what to do by big brother forcing it upon us. The CX-60 is a great motor for what it is and what it does it does well.
@RodneyW

Do you know what they did to fix the tinny sounding doors?
@pabloinspain
@pabloinspain Месяц назад
@RodneyW Hi. The dealer said Mazda had issued sound deadening material to fit in each of the doors. Apparently if you complain about the tinny noise to your dealer they will fit FOC under Mazdas warranty support or something. Mine was fitted during one of the service recalls. I hope that's of help. 😉

@@pabloinspain Thanks. Sounds logical. Probably should have been fitted from the outset!

@pabloinspain issues with German cars...I'm continuing aware of, and seeing on the roads, stopped. BMW, VW the worsts. Peugeot, that I wanted to buy one, a lot of complaints in car service stations, so I guived up on having one. Mazda has 6 years warranty, and 10 for the batteries in phev models. Are there so many more with those? German ones? French, English, Americans??

5:39 "floor mounted accelerator". Gold. Were you just making sure we were paying attention?
@User-cb4jm
@User-cb4jm 3 месяца назад
No it’s not a joke. Google Mazda accelerator and an article called “organ type accelerator” comes up and explains why they use a floor mounted accelerator vs the floating kind used in cheaper cars.
@vincentmothapa2421
@vincentmothapa2421 2 месяца назад
Lol I think he meant that the accelerator is mounted on the floor as opposed to being mounted on to of the foot area, just like in bmws

The driver personalisation system is good. The little camera recognises who sits in car and adjust seat, steering and mirrors automatically assuming they have a profile stored. Other brands like Honda require you to use keys 1 and 2. The personalsation profile also remembers your audio preferences.

It's great when it works, but needs some fine tuning as I've found it to work some of the time, not all of the time.

Make sure to not wear sunnies, or have them on head, beannie, hats etc. Obviously the technology can't determine who driver is then and runs the guest account. Works great in my dark garage with 3 drivers in family.

I found it very rarely works, why not just match it to the key, I'm fed up of having to menu dive and tell it I'm driving. It's turned off now, completely useless.
@aygeeninty771
@aygeeninty771 2 месяца назад
@craigyjp Interesting. If I was to start mine without actually sitting in car it goes into guest account and just leaves seat as per last setting. Also when starting car it shows the driver profiles to easily select. It's on screen for like 15 seconds. I suggest deleting then recreating your profile in daylight. Perhaps your image file is not good.

@@aygeeninty771 Yes, I've had multiple attempts at creating profiles based on my dealership asking me to do the same and then telling me it was fixed with a software update, I created a new profile and it failed after two goes.

The biggest problem with the new Mazda CX-60 is actually the poor quality of the suspension, which is too rigid and completely spoils the ride comfort and also the driving safety. Fortunately, Koni has released special shock absorbers for this model. I fitted them on my CX-60 3.3 Turbodiesel and the comfort is a bit improved. However, I find it shameful that I had to spend 2000 CHF to drive my car in conditions of sufficient comfort and safety!

They’ve also fixed it from factory. But I’ve yet to test this updated model. That review is coming soon.

Unfortunately it's not a great car, I got a late 2023 petrol 3.3 top line and it's probably the worst car I've ever owned. Lumpy gear changes at low revs, poor bouncing suspension, boot floor will jump up on small bumps. Boot latch rattles like a bastard, it has tape on it currently to quieten it down. Lane assist is intrusive and dam right dangerous at times. Cannot be permanently disabled. The crash detection system kicks in even when you have clearly and safely passed a car. Dam annoying. The speed recognition is broken on certain speeds such as 90 and 130kmh. Driver recognition is a joke, very rarely works, turned it off now as I'm fed up of getting in and it leaves me 10cm away from the pedals. Phone charge pad constantly disconnects and reconnects to my phone, a bit useless really. Random rattles etc still to be pinned down.

Its a brand new platform.. took mazda several generations for cx5 to be as quiet n softens the ride.. go look new ford ranger when they launch, many owners plague with problems, even the aussie youtuber have had problem with differentials on his new ford rangers.
@craigyjp
@craigyjp 2 месяца назад
@@TheGillederais it's not a brand new platform, it's been around since 2022. Mine was Dec 2023, almost 2 years after launch, yet it's still full of problems. I've probably owned about 30 cars in my lifetime of driving and this is by far the worst experience I've had. I understand teething troubles, I've owned new models before but never as bad as this car. It is just cheap and flimsy pretending to be luxury.
