I don't understand the hate of the dial control... Its so easy to use and have a better response than any touch screens i've used. Not to mention the constant leaning over to reach the screen is annoying and unsafe.
We find it annoying as hell on our cx5. It's definitely not safer, very slow to use and more likely to loose focus on the road with this than a touchscreen.
@@htdkaos There is a learning curve. After that I think it's way safer. I can basically do everything from muscle memory without having to look at the screen now. If I do have to look the screen is high up and keeps the road in sight.
You should have done this test with one person. What is the height of Lexus driver? Is the back row of Lexus more spacious than the Mazda? And let's not forget that Mazda has 3.3l 6 cylinder engine so the fuel efficiency is not that bad compared to Lexus.
Been driving a CX60 PHEV for over a week now, urban driving as well as a trip from Brisbane to Bundaberg and back. The suspension is indeed firm, but it handles really well around corners for a two tonne car. It's a subjective thing. All the reviews about the "uncomfortable" suspension actually made me ordered the current models in case Mazda yields and softens up the suspension to compromise performance with ride.
KONI adaptive dampers are for you, then! I've had the same model since August '23, surprised by the harsh ride. A couple of forums pointed me to the KONI solution, has totally transformed the ride. These's a vid or two by Koni out here, in Luxembourg the dealer ordered them and fitted them for 1.5 KEUR, about AUD 2.5K, made all the difference, improved things beyond measure without sacrificing the driving experience.
Both are great cars. Enjoying the CX-60 GT - 900kms so far, had to take it over the Lexus as it has a 3.3L Turbo Petrol and it’s the same size as the RX which is a higher price point - the Mazda was more impressive to me than the smaller NX models.
You’re lucky to even get the CX60, it’s unavailable in North America. This CX60 is the perfect size for an individual or family too and looks a lot better than the CX90, which is bloated. You also get the punchy inline 6 cylinder.
@@mervinprone interestingly enough, I have the CX 50 that’s available here in America. The Lexus NX and the CX 50 were my top two that I was interested in when I was looking for a new I didn’t realize that the CX 50 had more cargo space than the NX though.😁
@@eleanormassaro5195 you made the right choice. The NX is a fancy RAV4, I honestly don’t know who would choose it over a RAV4 or even an RX which isn’t much more. The CX50 looks great
@@mervinprone I am very happy with the CX50! It seemed like a no brainer with the trim that I got the Mazda in, that I would have to pretty much option up to a Luxury package NX which would have cost about ten or eleven thousand more!
New owner of Lexus 350H AWD F Sports with EP2 - very very happy. This car oozes luxury & refinement. Wife is constantly looking for excuses to drive it. The Mazda is a nice car but has a way to go to catch or pass the Lexus.
We test drove the CX60 3.3L petrol, but bought the Lexus 350H instead. Less than 5L/100km around town plus Lexus quality and quietness won. The Mazda start/stop is not great
Good video. I was looking on these two cars when i changed from the RAW4 -22 last year, i choose the Lexus 350H -23. I can agree that the ride experience in the 350 is far better than the CX-60 and i have 700km to the place i work so i needed a really good cabin a relaxed drive environment and fuel economy (fuel is ok 5.0-7.0 in wintertime, now it will be nice to see it in summertime). But i can totally agree, the CX looks really nice on both the inside and outside, the Lexus is still a little to much Toyota on some spots, not bad but not as fresh as the CX. Still, i really like my 350H and think i did the right choice
CX60 like 90 is a brand new platform and Mazds have just addressed some first year issues with series of TSBs. Drivetrain smoothness and start up with electric assist and transmission at start are super smooth now with one of the TSBs reprogram 😉 Lexus will always be softer , plushier and more isolated as it is what Toyota wants to offer as their versions of premium . Mazda is trying to adjust it's approach now and will tweak and settle it in the coming years and updates . To me Mazda is a bargain and is far more advanced approach than NX that seems overpriced considering old tech and more generic cabin where busy and edgy wants to fool us for being modern and rich ....sorry piano Black is not ok on vehicle this expensive. If there was a Toyota badge on NX and it was priced 30% less it would make it so much more genuine and logical
Looks like Mazda messed it up. This car needs adaptive suspension and driveline modifications before I would consider a trade up from my CX5. At this point it would be trading down in the driving experience.
The Mazda driveline is vastly superior and genuine longitudinally mounted inline 6 rear wheel drive bias. It would have been good if you thrashed them through corners and get the accelerator hard for your audience
@@paulvictor9368me too, hybrid 2wd,have finally given up on European cars( slow learner). The Audi Q5 for instance is a lot more expensive, isn’t hybrid, and has the most unreliable gearbox ever made,DSG. My personal experience, three cars over fifteen years with mechatronics problems( all from the VWfamily)current Audi Q2 at Audi waiting 4-6 weeks for one part, a sensor, under 30,000 kms on the speedo. My wife’s car,she wanted it cos it’s pretty. We trusted( duh!) the salespeople who insisted faults had been ironed out and DSG were vastly improved. Dealing with Audi Australia is a nightmare, even after asking for a supervisor you are just transferred to another offshore lady. They’re relying on you giving up on quoting Australian Consumer Law,they have no idea what you’re talking about. While I’m on a roll, I’m gonna try again and somehow talk to someone who’s actually in Oz. Good luck if you buy a car from the VW family.
Can't believe the Lexus rides better on run flats. Had a Mercedes C Class with run flats and no spare - of course - swore never again, as the ride was far too harsh. Now drive an NX 350, four years old, conventional tyres, and a spare. Ride is much better. Now Lexus comes out with run flats, and no spare ( you don't need one apparently ) Not acceptable for Australian long distances ...
Pre-ordered a NX350H FSport AWD EP2 originally last year, due to the long wait time i was leaning towards Mazda, but I wonder if they have a long wait time as well.
No wait time depending on colour and stock. Dealers have cars on the lot. Cars released in last six months don't have a big order book to catch up on eg. Amarok or CX60. I'd even suggest trying your luck at making offers lower than the price advertised on website.
I'm a CX-30 owner so maybe I'm a fanboy but all of Mazda's current designs seem better sorted out and proportioned. Less IS more. As well made as the Lexus is it still looks exactly like any other in a sea of FWD based anonymous looking crossovers. Not a fan of their slashing/slicing design lines put there for seemingly no cohesive reason. As far as those gigantic oversized front grills? Sorry about your penis!
My boss was looking at both of these vehicles and chose the Mazda purely based on the design. Personally, if it were my money, I would have chosen the Lexus as the Mazda cannot compete on luxury, refinement, reliability and customer service. Mazdas purchasing experience is also very poor. If you walk into a Mazda dealership, you are initially spoken to like you are buying a Mazda 2. When you tell them your looking at a CX60, they rapidly change their tune.... pretty fake and poor if you ask me. Additionally, at delivery, Mazda was pretty much handing over the keys and sending you on your way, luxury brands walk you through everything, make you a coffee, set your phone up etc. Mazda can't just make a luxury car and call themselves a luxury car manufacturer.... what about the rest of the experience you expect at that price? You walk into any Lexus dealership you are treated with a level of respect and care that is even unrivalled by other luxury brands.
I could not care less about a coffee or how friendly a salesman is to me. I only care about the product I buy, as I will spend much more time behind the wheel of my car than the couple of minutes I will stay at the cardealer. Buying experience is nothing more than useless marketing in order to increase prices.
The Mazda is all show and not much substance. Those rock hard seats and weirdly flimsy back seats when you pull down the centre arm rest… the entire bench flexes. What’s up with that? And for a brand that’s pushing towards premium, you can’t even give us a fully extending sun visor for those hot days when the sun peeks through the gaps of the side windows. That’s only a couple of my gripes with the CX-60. Do better Mazda.
Yep! I think the only thing pretty about the NX is the rear... and maybe to some extent in some bourgie way, the interior, but side and front I find hideous!
I've done a test drive on the same Lexus. Bought the Mazda because its way faster and the handling its more for performance driving. Pefectly fine for normal driving too but thats just me. After 3000kms of driving and iStop being always off my fuel average is 10.2 which includes me thrashing it. I think the petrol inline 6 is very quiet and refined on the inside. Downsides are not an s mode for the shifter and the first second gears are very short. Annoys me that I need to go in menu to enable manual shift logic before a good section of road and vice versa when you want full auto again. They also need to ffs allow driver to set defaults on safety features and iStop but same goes for most manufacturers. It's a great touring car for me.
I got my cx60 2024 model (3.3L e-skyactiv G version) last week here in Dubai UAE. So far I’m extremely happy with the car. The transmission is so smooth, absolutely nothing abnormal noted so far. The car is very comfortable and the engine noise is just amazing! Face recognition and safety e features (lane assistance and dynamic cruze control) are some of the high technology features in this car in my view. I’m wondering the issues listed here doesn’t apply to my model (ps: mine is the mild hybrid version).
I got my CX 60 last week in Dubai as well. The 2024 models in Dubai come with the upgraded suspension and better tuned transmission. I believe the car in this video has the old suspension which has not received any good reviews anywhere
have you test driven the nx350h if so what do you think about the ride quality in comparison, also what do you think about the efficiency of the daily drive in the cx-60?
I have had the CX60 3.3l mild hybrid for 2 months now covering about 3000km. I agree the suspension and transmission needs more refinement and the fuel consumption was not as what I've expected from a mild hybrid car. In addition the software in the infotainment screen is buggy as the face recognition does not work 100% of the time. The other minor thing is also the side mirrors still fold from time to time upon locking even though I've disabled that function in my driver profile.
I steered away from the CX-60 due to persistent transmission issues along with jiggles related to the 12v battery. The suspension issues are still waiting for a fix also. That said, both the interior and exterior are wonderful, I just hope they soon fix the other issues.
currently driving an old cx-3, been thinking to get the nx as my next car, but the LBX is coming, and relatively affordable. looking forward when it comes to Australia.
excelente, thanks for sharing that. It’s an amazing car and pleasant driving experience. I haven’t see any in the streets in dubai yet, which color did you get (mine is machine grey and brown Napa leather interior). Enjoy!
For now, I would choose the Lexus although I do think Mazda will get better over time. Right now it seems like they’re trying too hard. I expect Toyota/Lexus will remain on top given they sell the most cars throughout the world and will have enough bank to keep themselves ahead.
Correct me if Im wrong but you have to spec up to the GT grade with techology pack or the azami grade to get some of those safety features on the mazda
I bought a CX-60 top specification 3.3l engine about a month ago and a CX-5 black edition 2.0 AWD. I have to say so far the CX-60 is very disappointing, it rattles and shakes, the boot lid is loose and continually thumps on the smallest bump. The driver personalisation feature rarely works, even when it tells me my name it is in guest mode and the seat and steering wheel are in the wrong positions, I have to go into the system and change to my name to get the car seat how I want it. The wife's CX-5 has a much better build quality and feels sturdy, the CX-60 seems flimsy inside and cheaply made. I sold a cheap Chinese Haval H6 top to buy this car and now I'm regretting it. The lane change warning is really annoying, I've turned it off 3 times and it just comes back on randomly, when driving in snow and ice it's really scary to have the car fight back when you are changing lanes. I'm really beginning to resent this car. Only thing I can say is the engine is powerful but let down by the really poor gear lever, the trend in modern cars is for these crappy gear levers, the CX-5 lever is what people want. Not that shitty lever. One last thing is my windows steam up randomly when leaving the car parked. Means I cannot drive for 5 minutes whilst the windows clear. I would not recommend anyone to buy the CX-60 over the CX-5, the CX-5 is a much better car for the money.
Have you tried to have these issues warranty-resolved? All sound like warranty issues; no manufacturer would have their boot lid doing that - simply unsafe... so maybe yours was the bad egg to be fixed...?
Why would anyone buy either of these cars when they cost $15 / 100 km more in fuel than Australia's best selling mid size SUV costing many thousands less at $65.4k + $2k for an installed home charger? Yes, the Model Y beats these loosers all round.
What a load of BS, my sister has a model Y, it’s ok if you’re into cookie cutter motoring pretending your saving the planet (which you’re not), its not brilliant … my NX is in another league, it makes the model Y look / feel like an old shopping trolley, sorry 😉
