It took a little day trip in Bangkok to see Koh Kret. I have heard about this island and was told it is really cool. It was kind of like a ghost town. Maybe that made it cooler. I will show you how to get there and we will look around the island.

Rainy , Burn Off ,Hot seasons ....Humidity at 85%+, horrific air quality Temps at 40C + - all reasons we sold our house in Bangkok and enjoy the seasons of SW Ontario...As time goes on ...these weather issues will only worsen. Good Luck , Greeny !

Cheers G for another walk off the beaten track. I find myself doing that quite a bit in Bangkok myself. Otherwise it’s all bars etc you know the rest. Would recommend the Thai airforce museum near the end of the Sukhumvit bts and it’s free! - even for farangs!!! As a new retiree myself I was amused by your comment at the end ‘I’m retired so I can do what the f**k I want’ LOL

Easy to get steps in doing Bangkok. The city is so huge. I don’t think you will find such great transport infrastructure anywhere else. Haven’t tried Pink yet. Never realized the seat colors match the line name until I saw these pink ones. Duh! You’ll have to find me something more worthwhile. lol

Go at the weekend. All those places are open at the weekend for Thai tourists. Weekdays it is just normal slow village life.

Maybe that's when I was there was a weekend as I rented one of their dodgy bikes and road around the island and there was alot of cafe and shops opened.

if you have a swipe credit card then I think you may be able to use it on some of the mrt lines. rabbit card works on bts. it would be nice if they integrated under just one card. the airport line is something else and the trains are less frequent. comparing to the usa the bangkok metro is pretty good. great ac and skyways, but it is still a work in progress. not to be compared to the tokyo metro, but not nearly as hectic. if you buy a place in bangkok consider your stop. you are crazy going out in the heat of the day. taking a motorbike without a helmet is also crazy. been in a car in thailand where a motorbike hit us. i cannot imagine the injury the rider would have sustained without him wearing a helmet. blood was all over as it was. live and learn or die and burn. thanks for the video.

good job navigating the multiple train lines in BKK. The only train other than BTS I've ever attempted to use has been the train out of the Suwannaphum airport, which is so convenient btw. I'm forever exiting the train ramps on the wrong side of the street. What is up with that? It's a coin toss I always loose. smh I can't imaging 100 degrees F in BKK. Holy shit. And that burn season is no joke. You definitely took one for the team with that vid.

The place was alot more busy when I visited back in 2022 but seems really dead now, there was also some cafe and restaurants there as well. You could also rent bikes there. But overall I found the place pretty dead.

Why do you present videos in this style? A few minutes looking at Google the island is apparent, a few minutes more you know the historical reason, a few minutes more you admire the thai government fighting the rich to prevent island development and keeping it quaint. You seem to enjoy videos, pretending or not, this style of head up your shorts regarding thai, then again maybe there are others like you thus a great video for them? Anyways, I settled in, for simplicity call myself Buddhist, and just go in a calm fashion finding thai wonderful and once they see your interest, respect, calmness (and in my specific case buddhist) thai become very quick to steer me away from hustles, scams, including monks not even following the 5 precepts, etc. My 2 baht for those interested in that path. I am happy and wish everyone find their happiness 🙏

The reason why we don't have that in Detroit is because the automobile is king here and the automotive companies made sure public transportation was substandard, so people are forced to buy their products. One of the first things I noticed on the public transportation was just how clean and graffiti free it was. People in Thailand don't destroy their property like they do here in the Matrix. I wish we had a different mindset here, it's just so sad and terrible in the Matrix.
