My name is Brian but everyone calls me Greeny. I retired in January of 2020 after working 30 years in Law Enforcement. I wanted to retire young enough to be able to do some of the things I always dreamed about! I knew I wanted to travel extensively and retire somewhere warm and exotic I sampled a ton of places in the Caribbean, Panama, Colombia, Turkey but set my sights on Thailand.
Good luck to him. Being a pilot isn’t something you can stop and pick up on a whim. You need to stay current on your training, certifications and health. And then the jobs are all based on seniority. I’d think a pilot who plans early retirement would want to live near an airport, own a plane to get some hours in or give private lessons part time. For a profession that takes so much time and money to get into, with little pay to start out - I think it would be really hard to leave it all for a foreign country. Particularly since you’re forced into retirement at 65 anyway.
I'm going to Thailand close to 20 years spent at least half my time there in that period And the problem is people go there they get pie-eyed these old white men who have these young girls hanging all over them the ego gets stroked and then they realize it's all bull crap The land of fake smiles is what people who've been there a long time call it Don't get me wrong I love the Thai people and I understand when you brought up in poverty that any chance you get to get some money you get it I just laugh at the farangs who think these young girls are there girlfriends It's hilarious I'm close to type people I don't mess with farang when I go there cuz who needs that I have that at home I wish they'd all go home

I brought two cats with me...I didn't have to go through any kind of pet broker...they only needed an up-to-date vaccination record...It cost exactly $300 and they came with me from Budapest to Helsinki to Bangkok...We made it safely to Budapest, my Principal met my plane...It was a LONG flight from Helsinki...When we arrived at my apartment, arranged by the school, the two kitties had to have a bath and I took my shower and the three of us went straight to sleep! And my Thailand adventure started...Was there for five years...I'm so sorry I ever left when I retired...I should have stayed! I brought three cats back to the States with me...Not a problem at all..
I’m currently on vacation in Japan. I’m in Tokyo and tomorrow I’m taking the Shinkansen to Kanazawa. On the subject of language I’m getting by just fine with maybe 10 phrases at most. As you know from your own travels in Japan their English can be patchy or even non existent. Next subject- In Hollywood they say it comes down to diet and I’m inclined to agree with them. I eat breakfast at the hotel and then one square meal usually a late lunch. Today it was sushi prepared fresh at the counter. Yesterday it was Ramen. Because I’m on vacation I also have a couple of beers. Back home I rarely drink. In Tokyo you do a lot of walking simply taking the subway so there’s your exercise.

Any0ne , after your 60-day visa on arrival, i assume will you be able to extend 30 days at Thai immigration ? & then do a border run & when you come back from the border run into Thailand will You get 60 more days? for a total of 150 days AKA 5 months? Je viens ici à jomtien depuis plusieurs années.je suis ici depuis 6 mois.je vais partir d’ici car ce n’est plus le belle endroit d’avant.plus de restaurant avec de la nourriture occidentale.de belle petite Shop thaï ont disparu,et tout ce changement se fait au détriment des habitants de jomtien.la plage à changer du côté est et les pêcheurs ont du être ré localiser. J’aurais beaucoup à dire mais je vais me contenter de ces quelques commentaires. T’en qu’à aller à un endroit qui devient très touristique,il y a beaucoup mieux ailleurs. Comme au vietname La Thaïlande pert de sont charme
